  • One of the greatest quotes in the history of the Republic was when Ike said "I will go to Korea"

  • OBAMA - McCAIN - I STILL LIKE IKE!!

  • "Military Victor from Political Defeat," great line, Ike.

  • @RichardElden Yes, the Suez Crisis was his biggest mistake. He even admitted that.

  • Dwight D. Eisenhower (R) 33,936,252 449 55.1% 39 states won Adlai Stevenson (D) 27,314,992 89 44.4% 9 states won- A landslide

  • Eisenhower was the last effective president.

  • hhhh

  • Your one word comment without any explanation cannot be taken seriously; please explain yourself! As presidents go, Eisenhower was certainly among the ten to twelve best ever; are you referring to something that happened before he became president?

  • So true. This could have been about Iraq too.

  • Eisenhower isn't usually remembered for this, but he had an uncanny quality of telling it like it is and is perhaps one of, if not our most, straightforward and honest presidents. Truly a great American and easily one of the greatest presidents of all time!

  • I completely agree! Liberal/Socialist/Commmunist "historians" have always downplayed Ike and elevated Truman, but I've always felt it should be the other way around; Truman was a disaster and left office with a 23% approval rating!

  • @billyguns2 Eisenhower and Truman were both great presidents. They did good and bad things in office. Truman helped rebuild both Europe and Japan after WWII. He recognized Israel and created NATO,the OAS and the UN, helped desegregate the military, (at least) tried to stop communist forces in Greece,Turkey,Korea,Berlin(with the Airlift),etc. He also he wasn't afraid to remind General MacArthur that civilians are in control of the military no matter what.

  • Eisenhower was the man, It sucks we dont have war heroes/generals as presidents anymore..those were real men, now we live in the age of elitist and whos more qualified in terms of college degrees

  • Damn man, I could not agree more. He was the man, really was.

  • @parkerlane13 I couldn't agree with you more! Ike for president!

  • INVASTIGATION SOLVED!!! ..WATCH THIS CLIP !!!!!

    watch?v=vuBo4E77ZXo&feature=re lated

  • Eisenhower was fucking badass.

  • thank you he is my cusan and you know i shure am proud of him

  • This is actually something Obama should have used in his speeches. Then his speeches might have had some burger in it instead of empty tofu words like hope and change.

  • Ike, one of three Republican presidents I liked. One was Lincoln, another was Ike, and then there was Nixon (for stopping America's involvement in Vietnam). There was a good Whig president, there was Washington (who was no party). Two democrats were worth their salt, Kennedy and Clinton. However the rest of the US Presidents shot us straight to hell. RIP Ike, you were the greatest Republican president ever.

  • Don't forget FDR, arguably the best president in U.S. history!

Nixon was a crook. He was the ONLY president in U.S. history to resign in disgrace, and if he hadn't, he would have been impeached.

Whig presidents?? None lasted a full term.

W.H. Harrison - lasted one month.

John Tyler - annexed Texas and was later a Confederate.

Zachary Taylor - lasted 16 months in office before dying.

Millard Fillmore - one of the all-time worst presidents - his presidency led to the death of the Whig Party.

  • Worst President...how could forgot George W Bush!?!

  • I agree 100% with you, marcostar, but I was only listing the Whig presidents!

  • I think Calvin Coolidge was also a superb Republican president.

  • @billyguns2 So do I. I love Coolidge, Eisenhower and Reagan. Older presidents I like are Jefferson, Cleveland, McKinley and Polk.

  • Ike was a true leader. One of our great presidents. We could use a man like Eisenhower again.

  • Eisenhower talks really fast.

  • George W Bush should be forced to hear these words. Eisenhower was a giant compared to the pygmy now currently serving as President, in fact I think he really did try to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." We should have listened to his warning about the military-industrial complex. I think the historians' rankings of U.S. Presidents is mostly incorrect; they give top honors to blood spillers and egomaniacs.

  • HE is acturally a realitive of my mom side of the family. (Don't comment not for you)

  • @billyguns2 Well he did have the CIA overthrow two countries, threaten to drop the bomb on China and North Korea if they did not come to the peace table in Korea, send military supplies to South Vietnam and planes to spy on the Soviets. All of which i actually like. At the same time he was reserved in sending troops. He refused to send troops to help the French in indochina, ended the korean war and refused to send troops into the Suez after egypt invaded Sinai and took it over. Ike was great!

  • a real conservative

  • @colonicvillus He truly is!!

  • someone tell that to Bush.
