Starzship the Pilot. Pardon the delay. I was trapper by a falling mountain of paperwork. I have been working to complete my class for: the Federation Leadership Action Committee for the Containment of semi-Intelligent Du-mas(Alien slang for Humans) or Program Flaccid. Frio, FSO
Your Earth is a space hotel. Orbiting around in solar system and claiming to have read the mind of God in this vast universe is like Columbus stepping out of his home in Italy and claiming that he has discovered America.
This is so cool. I've thought for a while that an orbital hotel would be a great setting for a TV show. I even worked up some characters and named my resort "Constellation." But I never took it to this level.
If I were a very, very rich man (which I'm not -sigh-), I'd offer to buy the rights to this. I could become even richer.
The original movie script got optioned, but as enthusiastic as the DOD was, the production office we were dealing with was just too old school. I then took it upon myself to make the condensed animated version you see here.
The graphic novel is alive and well though, and you can read it in the pages of the Citizen-LA, or on the alien-irwin web page.
''Loused Up in Space'' - this is a plausible scenario, as governments run out of dough and the private sector takes over...So happy to be one of the original fans of the original IrwinAlien! keep me subscribed - to INFINITY -
Most of what you see is actual physical modeling. The faces of the characters were airbrushed with lowlight and workup colors, to mimick a cgi effect. The mouths and eyes were cg'd however, as well as many other things not apparent in the show.
This is excellent. Thanks for sharing it with me. I'm going to make it the Space Video of the Day on October 22 on my blog, robot_guy dot blogspot dot com.
You may have noticed elements of this in the "exciting scenes" at the end. The alien theme is played up much more in the graphic novel, though.
The sound design and effects were courtesy of my good friend Matt Temple, who did the sound design for Mell Gibson on "Passion of the Christ". I'll pass it along.
Oh, I didn't see much of that show. I love how they used to make music. Something sort of dropped out after the eighties, it seems. I guess models and music just tend to be digital these days.
GREAT!!!

check out this web site image and see if the gray haired character doesn't look familiar...

Which? Does he look like Ted Turner?
irwinalien 4 years ago
I googled his web "images" and there he is a spitting image of the gray haired marionette you had. I knew him from the army.
if you can search his images he looks more like the oasis manager than ted. and no cigar.

your video "spacescape" is terrific. a lot of hard work in it. how big are your sets? the hand gun makes me think most are full size.
great characters and dialog. and I loved the music, recognizing outer limits to lost in space. fantastic job!!
vydeoynkhorne 4 years ago
The sets are close to life size. The marionettes were built to about 1/3 scale, much larger than traditionally. I wasn't sure how they would film...
irwinalien 4 years ago
Very nicely done Especially the music and sound effects are a Blast !
I would prefer something else on the line of the story though somethin more Alien-wise.

I gotta agree that there's something to "low-budget charm and limited stagecraft." Seriously, that rocked.

Nice music. I thought I heard a lot of Lost in Space in there, and maybe some Star Wars and Star Trek. What was the rest, do you know?

Some of it was from the original Outer Limits series.

Yeah, that music was some of the best ever.

Peace.
I will be watching.

nice idea for the graffiti on the helmet that makes it look like a phsycho-naut(horrid pun,but really,a cool idea)
Deranthon 4 years ago
...actually it's a terror-naut--an even worse pun.
irwinalien 4 years ago
Wow, I saw that. story is quite unusual. I think you could get backing if it went live action, though on this the animation is cool.
The graphic novel is more realistic, though.
badairandspace 4 years ago
Yeah, we could really use some financing.

On the other hand, there is something to be said about low-budget charm and limited stagecraft.

Wow! Amazing!
I'd love to see the rest of the story.
I have many questions, but I guess all will become clear in due course!
