  • I remember when the Culver City Bus used to use Gilligs. My first ride in one was back in 1984.

  • think again the tmn&o buses wit the manual trannys were powered by L10 and they are mci. the last stick shift oreder was 98 and they are still runing them but the 93 mci for TMN&O are cummins L10

  • Because the Cummins ISX 11.9L engine will replace the ISM, CAT is on it's way out the bus and truck market, and the DD15 is going to replace the Series 60, and this is all going to take place in 2010

  • But in 2010 the MCI Coaches are going to be Cummins ISX powered since the Cummins ISM, CAT C13, and Series 60 engines won't be available for buses next year. The ISX is their only option

  • I wish that buses today had this sound. But all buses today seem to be only powered with Cummins engines

  • It's nice to hear a Phantom going down the street. Thanks for posting.

  • West Lafayette, Indiana on the Purdue University campus

  • yeah what happened to rochester ny's phantoms? Those things were cool with the comfy seats.

  • My suburban city of Michigan used to have the 1992 Gillig Phantoms with the 6v92ta engine and the HT-748, including the 1993 GP models with the Series 50 engine and either the Allision B400R, or Voith-D863.

  • Oops! CORRECTION: The 1993's Gillig Phantoms'(9370-9393 [9377 was scrapped due to an accident.]) transmissions are the ZF-ECOMAT-HP-590 auto. Sorry for the wrong transmission.

  • Does anyone knows what happened to Las Vegas CAT's 1990 Gillig Phantoms.

  • They were sold off along with some of the 1992 New Flyer D40s due to lack of knowledgeable repairmen.

  • CAT is so unprofessional

  • @newyorkfan16 i know its three years later but yea CAT/RTC here in vegas scrapped all of their 300 series gilligs in the summer of 05 the fact is, two stroke mechanics are retireing at 55 yrs old so owning them was gettin difficult. and when they started them on biodiesel that was not properly formulated, the engines were building up gel and deposits on the ttops of pistons.

  • This has the exact drivetrain as thier 1991 New Flyer D60HF's.

  • Of course... the 6V92TA and HT740.
