@BigGhommie The router is working great now. I think it had to do with the 10 year old DSL Modem not being compatible with the Netgear as it is working just fine with my cable modem.
Mines working great, its prob best netgear M/R ive ever bought.mines connected to mac and it was easy to setup.signal distance is ok with maybe 100ft coverage.just wish my ISP was faster.
I had 2 WNDR3700v1 and they were bridged together on 5Ghz. It would lose connection a couple times an hour. Which a eventually got worst(couple times a minute.).
I now have 2 WNDR4500s in the same configuration. Haven't had ANY drops, which makes me so happy.
@threepac3 Ever since I've converted to Comcast Business and am hooking up to their modem I haven't had any issues with the WNDR3700v2. It is unfortunate that the software on it isn't up to the standard of say Tomato.
Mine works well, but i'm still dissapointed. It's not as fast as it is touted to be, but much faster then the average 2.4GHz 802.11n. I have so far only reached 16MBs/128Mbs 5.2Ghz. But gigabit maxed out at 54MBs/432MBs, because of HDD. USB Server sucks, maxed out at 700KBs, thats right kilobytes. Range is also disspointing, backyard 1 wall 10m, nothing. But my old Billion 5200N did more then 100 M across the road.
@Neojhun I've been pleased with it so far and it even got better once I changed ISPs and got it setup as my main router now. Speeds have been excellent and distance is pretty good from one end of my house to the other. It is located in my basement and even then I can get about 40% of a G signal outside. I haven't tried N yet.
A friend of mine has this router and he has two laptops (other devices as well) connected to it. The old laptop would connect just fine on the 2.4ghz just fine. But his new laptop would drop all the time on the 2.4ghz connection. The New machine had an intel wireless N card in it.
He bought a new wireless card that supports both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. When the new card was used, the 2.4ghz connection still dropped all the time but the 5ghz connection stayed connected.
@Snowmation The might be possible. I don't have any dual band devices yet, probably will be awhile before I do. I did get the router to support it figuring someday I would have some.
It works now, I brought the D-Link 625 wireless router upstairs and hooked up my DSL modem and the Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR3700) to the D-Link 625 wireless router together and configured the Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR3700).
It seemed all it needed was to be hooked up to a DSL modem.
In this new configuration of routers I did not need to use the 4 port Ethernet Powerline devices.
@QuantumStates I've read on Netgear's Forums that it is a known issue with DNS and some solutions were offered. Unfortunately none worked, so I decided to just keep my Linksys as my main router, and the Netgear as an access point.
@tanksandplanes Cool, I have the the wndr3700 as well and it has been pretty decent so far...no real issues. it's connecting straight to an SMC cable modem and connectivity is quite stable and fast. maybe you should request a RMA of your current unit.
@QuantumStates I thought about returning it, but I probably won't. It's working just great as an Access Point and having 2 WiFi's in different locations in a house is very helpful.
I have a question, I have a D-Link DWA 625 N Router downstairs and 2 Netgear Powerline 4 Port Ethernet routers 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs.
A few days ago I went to our local Tiger Direct store to pickup a new wireless router a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR3700).
I thought cents the N600 (WNDR3700) was a Netgear product I could hook it up to the 4 port Netgear Powerline. And get internet access from the DWA 625 D-Link Router.
@meerkatmandude It should work. I have my Netgear plugged into a Netgear 8-port which is then plugged into a Linksys Router, which is then connected to my modem.
In the Netgear did you, under Basic Settings, have Internet connection require a login? No
Internet IP Address: Get Dynamically from ISP
DNS Address: Get Automatically from ISP
Then under LAN Setup give your Netgear a IP Address that is within the number range used by your network?
@dwg116 During my most recent attempt I had QOS off. The 3700 shows up on the computers just fine. It's just after several hours the connection is lost and I have to power cycle the modem to get it back to working.
@AndresBarrios1990 Yes it is odd. My Linksys I could just enter username/password and the connection would stick rock solid for days. The Netgear (and 2 Buffalos) would connect and a few minutes later disconnect, and the only way was to reboot the DSL modem. I have done a little looking in Netgear's forums and others have had similar issues and a few suggestions. Unfortunately, the Netgear is in use, so I'll just wait until it's free when I can try tweaking it.
this router sucks. Ive spent5 hours trying to connect on xbox live.
Ive changed ports, mtu, QoS, Upnp, and opening/closing my NAT

Ur pretty calm for having a faulty product. Pretty common for Netgear.

@zxten Mine is also working great now that I've gone to a new ISP. I do wish the interface was the quality of Tomato, but it does the job ok.

Maybe an intel card issue.

farshad040 10 months ago
@farshad040 It depends on your ISP connection. Mine is around 4 MB down and 500 K up.

try messing with the Qos settings. I have the v1 mndr3700 and mine did the same until i changed that.
Also make sure your devices show up under connected devices to the network and then see if it stays.
