  • Pick mine up Tuesday, already planning to call in sick...

  • @PainLifeIs Got mine last Friday and have been fighting the urge to call in and hit the range again with it ever since. Great choice you will enjoy it!

  • just picked up mine, :)

  • Wow when shooting at the gong you can see the bullet lol

  • Bang, GONG!, Bang GONG!!!,Bang, GONG!!!!!!, Bang GONG!!!!!!!!,Bang, GONG!!!!, Bang GONG!!!!!!! My two most favorite sounds! hickok just turned them into a sweet sweet song!

  • thanks hickok45 for rubbing it into the people's republic of commiefornia that we cannot have hi-cap mags, lol just got a glock 29 sf, planning on my attempt to get a concealed weapons license heard its near impossible to get here in commiefornia

  • How's the trigger feel?

  • You can get any pistol in California that isn't on the "list", as long as a dealer transfers the pistol to you as a single shot. Then you can convert it back to original configuration, and shoot away. I had my local FFL in Woodland, CA "single shot me" an XDM in 9mm. Where there's a lawyer, there's a way!

  • @ironcurtainofcali hahaha wow that sounds like a plan here in the people's republic of commiefornia

  • Speakin of gettin old, do you ever worry about them arthritis diseases?

  • Nice too see such a nice new .45 ACP... nice gun. Good magazine capacity, nice groupings, high quality. I like 10mm auto and the 5.7 a lot but this sure is kick ass .45 ACP.

  • Idk about the XDms but the original XDs you could easily modify a beretta mag to fit nicely into one. Just figured you'd like to know Hickok. Awesome vid as always.

  • HS Produkt Croatian made :p i'm Croatian

  • i like everything about this gun besides the grip, When i shot it my hand would not grip as well so my grouping was not that great but then i bought the prp grip tape and my grouping and my grip is alot better now

  • @TonatihuL

Hmmm thought that was supposed to be one better things about the gun.

  • Thanks to the GANG BANGERS, California gun law$ SUCK :(

  • it is croatian gun HS PRODUCT not SPRINGFIELD

  • Damn! That dude was shooting at pretty small targets my uncle has the same age than him and can barely grab a gun xD

  • @ Frostmas1515 put your hands on both of them if you can, see what feels better to you, but if you like the Glock, I would choose the gen4. I have a new XDm 45 & love it but it boils down to feel, both firearms are made extremely well and can last a lifetime.

  • try shoot the chiken?

  • I have watched a lot of your videos and they have all helped me a lot. I was wondering what you you would recomend. I have decided on either a glock 21 .45 or a springfield xdm .45 acp....I was wondering what your reccomendation would be??

  • @frostmas1515 I would recommend the XD personally but between them it really comes to preference. A Glock just isn't comfortable to hold to me for some reason and I find the XD to be as reliable and more accurate than the Glock but again, that's for me. You could have a different opinion. I've only had a compact and full sized 9mm but am very interested in a XD .45 some day.

  • Im sure you have found by now, the larger backstrap helps raise the sights at least for me anyways but i also find it more comfwith it that the reg stock skinny one

  • why is it illegal in California

  • @fearlessmdog23 You can find ones for California, it just has to be on the DOJ list and have a 10 round mag.

  • Honestly, I would never want to be a falling plate in Hickok's back yard or a perp on the wrong end of that muzzle.

  • The Glock is okay but it's not Excalibur. The proliferation of the weapon is just as much due to excellent marketing (propaganda) as it is function. If you want to get an idea of what I mean think of the Clairol marketing campaign that stated "Blondes have more fun". It convinced the world that blonde women were the most desirable. I have shot many Glocks and they work but I prefer other pistols to them. I would say try a weapon before buying it and purchase based on your own opinion.

  • How is the trigger pull different from the Glock? Also, I was thinking of getting the black slide but heard the finish on it will get scratched up so I may go for the bitone version instead. Have you had any issues with the with the black finish? I actually prefer the look of an all black gun to the bitone. Have you ever had any finish issues on any of the Glocks you own?

  • BTW, where can I find the tray you use for the ammo..? Thank you

  • OK thank you I hope to have a range like yours someday !

  • It's amazing how quick he unholsters that gun and immediately acquires his targets.

  • its just what california deserves for exceeding from the union lol

  • It is Croatia not Croetia ...Obviously you have no clue about the XDM45 !!!

Buy one and then make intelligent comments Moron...

  • Oops I posted before I saw the made in Croetia thing maybe the S&W M&P 45 is a better american option.

  • I have know idea why the army is so stuck on the berreta m9 in 9mm while there are so many pistols like this xdm. Most of which are produced by American companies or in the american factories owned by foriegn companies!

  • @smartguy104 capacity for one, and i believe they have to have external safeties and other things

  • @trvmcintosh Unlike the glock the Xdm has the grip safety and a manual safety just like a good old 1911. And it carries 13+1 cap of 45acp. There are also 15 round mags for the xd and xdm with grip extensions. The fnp45 is a example of a pistol that holds 15+1 of 45acp with a flush mags. Xd'sThough the m9 is a great pistol if I had to carry a 9mm I would rather have a glock 17 with its 17+1 cap. But I'd rather not carry a 9mm.

  • thanks for making this vid hickok45 ive been wanting one of these guns for a while guy at the gun store talked me out of a glock 21 and turned me on to this much nicer trigger action

  • I am sorry, but as many little things they dress the gun up. It's still a Glock rip-off

  • @jcbirdrunner XDm has better ergonomics, capacity, accuracy, etc... and in that case you could say that glock ripped off browning as it uses the same locked breach short recoil operated action .also to those of you who think glock was the first polymer pistol it was actually the H&K VP70. so glock ripped of H&K to

  • @peytonthegunnut XDM was a follower and everyone knows it. Look at all of the leading pistols out there and they are all are using the Glock design as the baseline. Striker fired, polymer gripped, dehorned, multiple safeties etc. How many of these do you have to see to realize that Mr Gaston Glock took the Browning design to the next level and everyone else is just pretenting to innovate. The elegance of design is simplicity - after 30 years they're still chasing.

  • @peytonthegunnut Ergonomics, capacity, and accuracy is your opinion. I could find just as many that say the Glock is better in all of these areas. People who buy the XDM usually like the quote unquote modern look. And as far as reliability, I'll take a Glock every time.

  • @theboredman1 I don't know if my reply sent, my phone is going kind of crazy right now, but I should have been more clear, I'm just a nasty civilian right now (heard a Marine say that before haha). I'm in the delayed entry program right now. Leave for San Diego on July 11th. I'll be a combat engineer maybe. That's what the paper I signed said my job might be

  • @vcMalice Yeah, for concealed carry. I was just wondering. I hope I don't get stationed in California then, I want a lot of bullets in my clip. I'm enlisted in the Marine Corps. Well, I still have three years left until I can get my own pistol. I'm only 18

  • @AKT93S What is your outfit?

  • Can this gun handle P+ ammo..?

  • @granputon01 Yes, it can handle +P rounds but, like most guns, the manufacturer says a steady diet of +P may shorten the service life of the weapon. However, this is true for any make or model.

  • Is there a limit on the amount of magazines you can have on you?

  • @AKT93S for ccw? I don't think there are any rules against it. There ARE some rules in some states that only allow you to carry up to a certain number of rounds in a magazine (i.e. California only lets you have a max of 10).

  • I'm glad I don't live in Commiefornia, New York, and the other states like that there a bunch of Communists who lusts for power for restricting ppl of high-cap mags to tell them it'll slow down crime if they ban them, wrong criminals will always get guns and with high-cap mags in black markets they always do no matter what it's all about control and manipulation to have more power over the law abiding citizens

    "Nuff said!"

  • I like the videos where he shoots the guns.

  • super 'brko iz druge galagsije' jebemu misa ja sam cak cuo melodiju dok su zrna udarala po metama :-) bravo brkoooo al bolje ti je da sta KARNES NEKO MLADO some

  • "known to the State of California to cause cancer

  • @BAYAREA4150 "in lab rats"

  • anyone else notice in the video you can see the .45 round flying to the metal plate? LOL

  • i'm like you with the glocks except i'm a berreta guy it's the handgun i know the best and shoot the best

  • Did anyone else scream, "WTF?!?!?!" at 3:05?

  • @DiscoDude82 Nope. Living in NY, we have gone the way of CA. It is illegal here too with the "High" capacity mags.

  • @Speedogg138 You mean, "EVIL" magazines.

  • @DiscoDude82 Whatever bullshit name the liberal fucks want to put on it. At least we can get this gun here and it doesn't have to be on some bullshit "list" like CA. :/

  • I just got this. It's fun as hell to shoot!

  • wow, subscribed!

  • i though the same thing when i saw the case too hahahhahahaha. i wonder if they make a cup holder that fits the rail on the case. im tempted to take the empty case to california on my vacation. i wonder if they will throw a fit over the sticker on the side hahahah

  • There are too many guns not on the approved list in California. And the approved list makes no sense anyway. Well, really it's just California gun laws that make no sense.

  • @UltraHumaKnight You cant have ther xdm in cali?

  • @rempli Well you can have one but you can't buy one in state. If you can follow that logic you'll make a great politician.

  • @UltraHumaKnight Man that is sad, here in canada of all places i can get one delivered to my front door.

  • I'm about to purchase a XDM but can't decide on 45 or 9mm. I like the 45's power but the xdm 9mm holding 19 rounds seems great too. Any thoughts?

  • @JGD1985 if all you are doing is target shooting, 9mm is probably better just because of lower recoil and added capacity. but for law enforcement purposes the .45 it definitely a better round for killing people. personally i think the .40 is the best, it has large capacity, and is very easy to control while firing in quick succession, and a hollow point .40 cal duty round does some major damage to human tissues.

  • @crazy0ace1 A 9mm, .40, and .45 hollow point all do massive damage. People think bigger hole = bigger damage. That is so untrue it is crazy. It is all about hydrostatic shock.

  • @Speedogg138 Hydrostatic shock is caused by foot pounds (ft/lbs) energy. the more ft/lbs energy that is exerted from the bullet to the target the more powerful the shock waves will be. a 9mm gives produces about 450ft/lbs energy but has a tendency to over penetrate and not expend all its energy on the intended target. a .40cal puts out the same ft/lbs energy but hardly ever over penetrates = balance of power/recoil. a .45acp gives off about 600ft/lbs so yes bigger hole = more damage in this case

  • @crazy0ace1 Not quite. It has to do with the energy, the quality of the bullet (how well it will expand) and the density of the target. I'd take 15 9mm bullets any day of the week over 8 .45s.

  • @Speedogg138 you pretty much just restated what i said. energy of bullets is measured in foot pounds per square inch (psi) or jewels if your on the metric system. the better expansion a bullet has the more energy transfered. 9mm in my experience (and ive seen lots of people shot by all 3) has a tendency to pass right through a human target without expanding. a .40 has the same potential energy as a 9mm but has much less probability to over penetrate. my xdm holds 16 too. its mostly preference

  • @crazy0ace1 It's actually joules, but the thing I am trying to make people understand is that the "9mm is weak and .45 is a one shot stopper" think is 100% complete BS.

  • @Speedogg138 oh granted, trust me ive worked many cases where the person was killed by a 9mm. ive seen people die from one shot from a 22 long rifle and live from 7 shots from a .45 personally i trust my life to the .40cal just because you get lots off bullets before you need to reload and the likelyhood of me getting into a shooting, and accidentally shooting somebody behind my intended target because of over penetration isnt highly likely. but like i said, its preference and what you want

  • @Speedogg138 Shot placement is more important than caliber, but if you can make a well-placed shot with a 45 then it should be a done deal.

  • @JGD1985 ...if you make a well-placed shot with a 9mm it will be a done deal, and with a 9mm you get more shots to do just that...

  • @Speedogg138 True, that's why I use both calibers. :-D

  • WERE CAN I GET SOME OF THOSE ANIMAL TARGETS AT????

  • "I will probably use the magazine loader when I get old".....Hmmmm I see you uning them allot now in your videos are you getting old already Hickok? lol

  • I bought a Springfield Xdm .40 in 3.8 compact just a little bigger then a glock 21. Bout 400 rounds later I don't regret buying the firearm, its been very reliable not a single jam

  • Love your videos Hickok45. My Dad has the XDm .40 cal and I absulotely love shooting it. I've really considered buying an XDm 45 for myself.. hell of a gun for the price.

  • Very nice job, I think you covered everything quite well and the XDM is a great gun, a lot of fun to shoot.

  • I can actually see the bullet hitting the gong. Amazing.

  • will a 9mm kill you in the chest from 50 meters?

  • @oscar7610 Without a doubt.

  • I hate california! This place sucks and as soon as I get the chance I'm leaving

  • At 08:23 you did shoot an H for Hickok on the Gong :)

  • Which is better all purpose gun glock 45 or XDm? I have a highpoint .45 and its just lack any real accuracy and want something better for homeland defense. Plus my wife will be using it.

  • @SuRihtanil Neither one is really better than the other. Both of them are great choices, but which one is better than the other is based on personal preference. One thing you should do is handle them in a gunshop to get a feel for them and see which one you like more and why, and if there's a rental range in the area you should try them both out. One thing I can tell you is Glocks are consider very "de-horned", and are very light. I can send you a private message going in depth if you want.

  • @Weaponcollecter16 I am going to check them out at a local pawn shop. The pawn shop has both I am leaning towards the glock just because the name, but I hear the XDm .45 is a really really good hand gun.

  • @SuRihtanil That's good that a local shop has them both. I would't lean towards either one just because of the name. What I do (and suggest) is that you compare the advantages and disadvantages each firearm has, and you see which one feels the best in your hand. I like both Springfield and Glock. I only like the compact and sub compact Glocks, because of the hump they have on their frame, and I also prefer those two sizes in a handgun. They're also very very "de-horned"

  • @SuRihtanil What I like about Springfield is that the XDm has a multiple backstrap system, a good feel, and it's more appealing to the eye. One thing I find a big possitive other than the multiple backstrap system, is it has a three dot sight system. I know Glock's use those too, but I rarely if ever see a Glock that has that sight system. Also one thing I love about Springfield is that they were the first armory founded in the United States (just something I personally like).

  • @Weaponcollecter16 The in Gen. 4 Glocks have adjustable backstraps. The 3-dot nightsights are also optional and in use by many LEO's and departments.

The actual Springfield Armory that was established in 1777 closed in 1968.

Springfield Armory Inc. (XD pistols, 1911's, ect.) has NO ASSOCIATION with the authentic Springfield Armory. The only thing the original Springfield Armory and Springfield Armory Inc. have in common are their names.

  • @RidgeRunner88 After I posted my comment I had that, oh wait a minute moment, and remembered that about the Springfield armory, thanks for correcting me on that. I was not aware about the adjustable back strap system for the gen 4 Glocks, and I wasn't sure about the 3 dot system either, thanks for the information on that. I know now that my next handgun will be a Glock 26 gen 4. I usually prefer something other than Glock, but that might change once I get a gen 4 with the 3 dot sight system.

  • @Weaponcollecter16 Yup, the adjustable backstraps is a big plus to the new Gen. 4's as well as the more aggressive factory stippling.

I'm a huge polymer pistol fan and it's good to see the manufacturers always improving.

  • @SuRihtanil lol faggot

  • @retardedusers Oh look, its another 12 year old whose mom paid for him a internet connection! Welcome to youtube, and the internet. However, you might want to refrain from acting how you do in junior high around here. This area is for adults, the kido playground is around the corner. So run along and play before she she's you're being a silly little child and mommy's stops paying for the internet. She may also stop buying you those oreo cookies, and the snack cakes you love so much.

  • @SuRihtanil lol faggot

  • @retardedusers Nice... I actually feel sad for you, but atleast now I know not to reply anymore. You're just a little to weird, and its just not worth the effort.

  • @SuRihtanil u mad bro? You're obviously mad because you stopped replying because you couldn't disprove me. lol faggot

  • @retardedusers Please do not use that kind of inappropriate language, and try to demean other fellow youtube users. It's not sincere to do and you are representing yourself poorly.

  • I'd love it if Springfield would make something like a series 80 (1991 model) Colt. They have all sorts of outstanding firearms like the M1A, M1 Garand, and 1911 A1, but they don't have an original style 1911 like Colt does. Springfield is one of the best firearm companies in America, aside from Colt and some of the various rifle companies.

  • Oh My God, you can actually see the bullets drop onto the target (when zoomed into onto the Circle Steel Target) amasing.........

  • looks like a glock

  • Lose the mustache.

  • is the Xdm easily field stipped like the glocks

  • the collar on the 13 round is for the compact version to have an extended grip and magazine, to make it able to be a concealed carry weapon and have option of the higher capacity magazine.

  • Great review as always Mr. Hickok. Very thorough in your analysis and it is greatly appreciated. I was debating the purchase of the XDm but you've cleared that up for me. By the way I'm from N.Y. and we're NOT that far behind California in regard to our rights as gun owners. We have an arrogant runt for a Mayor here. He knows what's best for everyone. Again, thank you.

  • I'm glad I don't live in California there nothing but Communist cronies who love to surpress their own law abiding gun owners, I bet they make a lot of dealings with criminals if the criminals vote for them without either jail time or death row then they'll probably release them and they'll kill even more innocent ppl.

  • The XD is available here in california, but the magazines has to be in 10 rounds (Which is for all firearms). Commifornia is willing to go easy on criminals, but hardcore against law abiding gun owners

  • the shots on the 80 yard gong you can see the bullet in flight! gotta love those big slow projectiles in flight lol! I have a few custom built race type 1911's and with ease are my fav pistols, my carry pistol is a Kimber compact 1911.

  • I wanted the gun, now i will have it:) Love your vids sir.

  • "...the left coast..." hahaha

  • "Lets take a couple more shots at whatever looks like it needs shooting". lol Thank you sir these videos are great and have really helped me narrow down my choices on what gun I purchase.

  • On those first shots at the big gong you can see how much you gotta lob a 230gr .45 to get there! That makes elevation estimating tough. So bravo you are pretty nasty with that thing!

  • Thumbs up if you googled rob leatham.

  • Well done

  • i love the xdm45 and i think your review was great

  • Nice vid.. Do you know which other mags will work with the XDm 9mm. Where im from XDm mags are not readily available. I know i would probably have to modify and put the mag. catch cut out on the front but interms of dimention, do you know which one works. (XDM 9mm)

  • Nice shooting

  • @Glockcrazy19 Yes XD and XDM are made and were designed in Croatia by HS Produkt company. Springfield is just an importer. In Europe XD is known as HS2000. Kimber, Khar, Colt are some of the ones made in USA. New Springfield 1911's have made in Brazil stamped on.

  • I went back and looked through 12 pages of comments and can't believe I didn't find anyone asking how far all those targets were at...I would love to know those distances as it helps to understand how well it was hitting. Distance can be very difficult to judge in a video.....the gong way up the hill looks like it is about 45 yards to me....Hickok45 please throw in a comment with the distances. Thanks

  • @Mrwintr , It's because I've talked about the distance in so many videos that most people know that the big gong is at about 80 yards. The closest animals are at about 50, so the animals between are approximately 60 or 70, etc.

  • @hickok45 Nice! Thanks for the info on distance.

  • @hickok45 This info might be worth posting on your main page.

  • how much is tht gun to buy

  • Please someone out there in XDM land tell me I made a great decision on buying a Springfield XDM 45 with a stainless steel slide. I also bought a Glock 22 Gen 4 and Im very confident that it will last me forever...but I know XDM is relatively new, so Im just unsure about it. By the way, Im very new to the gun world and have never fired either one of my guns yet.

  • @damon323 It's the same basic pistol as the XD, which is a fine pistol. XD stands for eXtreme Duty. Look at the XD torture test video right here on youtube. You didn't go wrong at all.

  • you are an amazing shot!

  • you can hella see the bullet fly

  • I have one of these in 9mm, great reliable guns!

  • @hickok45

I don't recall bullet drop at that distance to the gong with my .45xdm, but you can clearly see what appears to be the bullet either making a drop, or diagonal descent.

Were you just shooting low & at a downward angle?, or was it actually starting its drop?

  • Not only does the case have picatinny full rail mounts, not sure if you noticed... the V-shaped ammo holster also has rail mounts on it too :)

  • Thanks for the great demo. Got my XDm 45 a few weeks ago, and am amazed at the accuracy and comfortable feel. Kit is loaded! Thought recoil would be a problem, but is almost unnoticeable. It has been a long time since I could blow the centers out of a target. Definitely shoots better than me. Does well with reloads. Makes shooting less expensive, and great fun. Made the mistake of letting my wife shoot it for a while. Now she wants one too! Never thought she would fall for a 45 ACP!

  • Great video, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this gun! I want a G21, but the only way I'm going to be able to afford to shoot .45 is to reload it and for reloaders the G21 comes from the factory with the extra cost of having to buy an aftermarket barrel. The XDM .45 looks like a nice alternative!

  • Great video Mr. Hickok45 but would like to see more Guns made here in the USA.... Thanks for posting your reviews though... God Bless...

  • @cacklin1, Sorry, that's not at all a consideration when I'm considering guns I like or that others want to see shot on the channel. I like quality firearms and appreciate the craftsmen for their work, wherever they might live. :-)

  • @cacklin1 yup im assuming you know that the xds are made overseas. im almost positive the springfield 1911s are made in brazil too..about the only polymer semi auto i can think thats made in america is the M&P series..and kel tecs too..maybe some of the rugers?

  • @Glockcrazy19 Thanks for your help Glockcrazy19 for the information.. Just wanted to see more like the M & P made by Smith and Wesson and other weapons like Bill Wilson Combat Rifles, Shotguns and Handguns. on YouTube. God Bless..

  • @cacklin1 yea..its sad really. in the 60's ( im not that old) 9 out of 10 items in the american home were made right here in the USA. now its probably the other way around. take the time to look at everything you own..you will see what i mean.

  • @Glockcrazy19 So true, we need more American made products and stop depending on other Countries to send us products....

  • @cacklin1 he has a bunch of smith and wessons those are beautifully made in the USA and i think rugers are to but i prefer smith wheel guns :)

  • @cacklin1 i agree with you but hell i guess everyone has their own opinion

  • i just bought the bi-tone version and i'm glad i did! i love this gun. i'm use to the 1911 trigger and the XDM's trigger has a little too much creep for me, but we're comparing it to a 1911. it really isn't fair i suppose. 1911's have the best trigger IMO. however this gun is accurate and reliable! love your vids my friend.

  • This guy kicks ass, he know's what he's talking about!

  • Nice review I own this gun in 9mm and 45acp.cant believe how accurate this gun is.,and that is some damn good shooting I got to get a shot like that and a backyard to match!

  • Just bought today can't wait to let it eat some rounds

  • nice review xdm sounds real good im intrested in it just the floating barrel none the less its still a good fire arm agan nice vid

  • Yesterday I Talld My Dad When I Grow Up..

    I Wanna Be Hickok45

  • hickok would destroy nutnfancy. hey mr hickok when u clean ur guns are u suppose to go from the back of the barrel to the front of the muzzle with the brush or can u go back and forth with the brush or does it really matter? thanks and good shootin...again

  • hickok45, was it difficalt to grip the grip saftey on the XDM 45?

  • hey do you know homer simpson....

  • @mrfilmont, Homer's my hero!! Homer makes even me feel smart. :-)

  • that's because california gun laws suck : /

  • Man, you are a godlike shot. Wow.

  • @s14sr You've watched too many nutnfancy videos, wait or maybe you are nutn in incognito??

  • @TommysToe2 Who's nutnfancy?

  • will the xd 9mm mags work in the xdm 9mm also? You can alos see the bullets hitting the steel at around 8:29 and before.

  • will the xd 9mm mags work in the xdm 9mm also?

  • @triggerhappynavyseal No they will not the mags are different between the XD models and the XDM models. Main reason the XDM is not on the CA list of approval because Springfield currently does not make a 10 round mag for the XDm

  • Does the grip safety actuate the firing pin lock or is that done by trigger pull?

  • California is the only state on the westcoast that doesn't allow high cap mags. Oregon and Washington it's legal 2 own high cap mags.

  • @mrmilleniumproof

    Kiss ass.

  • You think you could do something on the Winchester M1887 Lever-action shotgun?

    <
