  • she's so lame

  • Not nearly as bad as I would imagine.

  • Super sexy

  • Am I the only one who came here to listen to music, not to judge? :3

  • mumford and sons version is better, but it was an O.K attempt

  • i like the mumford version better but this one still gave me goosebumps

  • Honestly the fact that she did this cover is her paying a compliment to Mumford & Sons. Showing that their worth her attention. While you may not like her, you have to see that someone as big and as popular as her paying homage to someone isn't an easy thing to do.

  • am i the only one who feels this is awkwardly close?

  • God damn. Really? Fucking up my favorite Mumford & Sons song.... Maybe I'm biased... but really? Really? Ugh. No, sorry, it just doesn't have the power that the original does, so it may as well not exist. Pretending I didn't find out this exists and... Moving on...

  • I love it, almost as much as the original. It's different.

  • Of course it's not the original, but I thought she did a good job.

  • I liked it.. Not many people have a voice as powerful as Marcus' but that doesn't make them not talented just because it's not as good as the people who actually wrote the song (the case with most covers)

  • You know what? She might be a great singer, don't know her and totally don't wanna judge her, but this song isn't as good as the original. Just the fact that her voice you can hear it every five seconds cause it's covered by instruments.

And most important, I don't see Love spreading out of her while she sings, like Mumford and Sons do.

Again, not judging her, just trying to be objective on this performance.

    Love to you all.

  • Ugh Ugh Ugh....this is just wrong.

No one should ever attempt to sing this except for Marcus Mumford. EVER.

  • but sadly she sounds good here, but nothing compares to mumford

  • i hate her

  • Dead VOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she must PUT more energy and life to her voice!! Taylor is absolutley a great singer but this performance is so LOOOW! only mumfords that can bring this music and lyrics alive!

  • Simply Amazing.

  • Look, I hate Taylor's music... But she puts a lot of emotion behind this... She has a strong soul, but her I can only hope that her songwriting catches up one day.

  • I didn't like Taylor Swift until I heard her sing this song. Way more depth in choice by doing this cover.

  • @1282tricialynn Go listen to her song she does with the civil wars. its in the same nature as this song.

  • I don't know why people are hating. Taylor will never be Mumford and Sons, but this isn't a bad cover. I appreciate that she has good taste, in any case.

  • She didn't do bad. Calm down.

  • I actually like when it starts at 1:42. (:

  • Stop hating! at least it shows that she also appreciates real music by singing those kind of songs, she sends a good message! It's not like she was singing and supporting useless songs talking about sex, money and other bullshit.

  • taylor swift please just stop no

  • Chill out. She obviously wasn't trying to be better than Mumford and Sons. It's good I guess, never comparing to the original, but not bad.

  • Why? This is not another "she wears short skirts I wear T-shirts" song for you to sing Taylor. This is a "tell me now where was my fault in loving you with my whole heart" song that has pain and passion that rocks a person from their core. Nice try I guess...

  • @roflcopter5497 Oh man, can't you just appreciate the sadness instead of the pain? No hate sir!

  • @skiwiz17 I'm a girl haha not a sir. And yea I mean I don't hate it, it's a decent cover... I just don't like Taylor Swift. She put some nice emotion it in though so I'll give her that.

  • no

  • wow it isnt as good as the original obviously but some of you guys really need to relax.

  • Stick with your own music don't rape other's

  • no american can sing mumford epicness.

  • @sweetmeex3 im american, and i agree with you fully haha

  • @battlefield2013 THANKYOU.

  • @sweetmeex3 not only no american... but certainly not taylor fucking swift >.< what a joke...

  • @laur1813laur i know right :|

  • @sweetmeex3 you fucking joke! im American an i love Mumford an suns an you being disrespectful for no reason is what gives England a laughable reputation! i came here from Mumford and suns video's dont even like tayler swift just wanted to hear a bad ass song from another artist and you solely killed that... i hope your life spoils just like you spoiled my moment in life!

  • @sweetmeex3

1.you call me an idiot for putting up a typo on accident yet you sound brain dead counting down my faults.

2.ive never heard of one good comedian hailing out of England,we got Cheech and Chong,Dave Chappelle,Gorge Lopez,Jack Black..etc

3.i have never said the moment in my life you spoiled was a big one just big enough to spoil your whole worthless life you douche-bag.

  • @WSNnick 1. a typo is where you mess up once not twice.

2.I have never heard of any of them apart from Jack Black who is a actor/musician.

    3. You my friend are an idiot who doesn't understand the use of grammar as your last sentence did not make sense.

  • @sweetmeex3 dude your a dip shit give up now, look at your key board the u an o are right next to each other. jack black is a comedian look it up he goes on stage as a comedian, he is not a musician all he dose is fuck around thats his act. im not trying to be literate here this is youtube not school i have a 4.0 so fuck off you dont know me or of what your talking about and im in college right now for philosophy and psychology and you sir are a Narcissist get some help for that.

  • @WSNnick let me reply the best way i can.

u and i are next to each other.

    tenacious d? <jack black. band.

my last point is the fact that your in college. so what? i may be younger but your the one wasting your time talking to a child :L.

  • @sweetmeex3 but he has a band for his act! holy macaroni if you think thats real music your ears are sick, dont get me wrong jack could play but hes not doing it to sound good.and im not even near you bro. and just cause your younger dosent give you the right to be ignorant and racist please continue an finish the English stereotype for me cause your hitting it right on the button you fucking swine.

  • @WSNnick i don't think he's good:|. and ok i will. Hello good sir, what would be the problem? Oh an argument over opinion? I am very sorry for that. Have a nice day.

  • @sweetmeex3 no opinion is on one thing to another. you put an opinion on 2 whole continents it is no longer viewed as an opinion it is now racist, an thats the reason i have decided to argue with you. i wasnt talking about how you guys talk i was talking about how you think your better then everyone else when in fact you have no factual proof dont get me wrong yall have some kick ass music i listen to everything i just really hate racism is all i apologize if i have offended you bro

  • @WSNnick she just by saying that your being racist to me, do you think i care? you may be american but english people think you think your so much better so it's controversial,

let it go. i was saying the accent didn't sound right and the song didn't suit her. i'm so sorry i'm english, i don't think it really matters where i'm from, i would have had the same opinion.

i wanted to point out something for no relevance.

i never said i was english.

  • @sweetmeex3 Wow, that's fantastically xenophobic of you. And here I thought music crossed all borders.

  • @TheVariantCover well, it doesn't.

  • @sweetmeex3 I'll have to let The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, and basically any British musician who's been anything close to relevant for the past 50 years know that they need to stop playing American blues, then, per your request.

  • @TheVariantCover fair enough

  • this is the first music video I've ever disliked on youtube.

  • The strings in her cover literally give me chills. It's far more gentle and lush than Mumford's, though I like both versions equally.

  • i like this :)

  • sorry.. but she is no Mumford and Sons.. but she did okay.. but I expected better.. so I disliked...

    Booooooo... LOL

  • @jojo1980joseph

lol right? I mean it's like what did you expect though? She sang it the way it meant to her. She isn't Joe Cocker, she isn't going to pwn one of the best bands ever with a cover.

  • Just my opinion, but I don't feel that she did such a beautiful song the justice that it deserves. I believe that it should have been sung with more emotion and pain as Marcus sings the original. Just the raw emotion behind the original version is just haunting. Even though I'm not a fan of this version, good for her for giving it a try.

  • unacceptable.

  • Blasphemy! O.o

  • Ehh...nice try, I'll give it that. I was hoping for more pain in it. Well done, just not the interpretation I was hoping for.

  • me before actually listening to the cover: oh god, she is so going to butcher this. oh well, ill listen to it anyways.

me after listening to the cover: (crying) that...was.....so....beautiful <3 <3 <3

  • I don't listen to Tswift, but the girl is talented and you can't deny that. And she FEELS this song, you can see the anguish on her face. I love, love, love Mumford&Sons and feel honored with her decision to cover this track. Stop arguing and enjoy a beautiful piece of music.

  • Not bad, but Mumford's voice just gets me every time.

  • i dont like taylor but i like this song :)

  • I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift. In fact, I don't really like her music at all. However, this was really quite good. Pretty fair job, I'd say.

  • I like how this cover is softer than the original. The original is raw and passionate and angry but this one is sadder and has a different emotion to it. I prefer the original but this one is pretty good also:)

  • I love this <3

  • me too

  • she actually did an impressive job , i preffer the original mumford and sons version , but i gotta give her creds :)

  • Skeptical going into this, but it's not bad.

  • It is a beautiful cover for sure, but listen to the lyrics. This is NOT a beautiful song, it is meant to be sung raw, and with disdain for the permission who broke your heart.

  • This was a lot better then I thought it would be.

  • @quikxfl What does that even mean?

  • I am not a fan of Taylor Swift but I really like what she did with this.

  • I must say that I absolutely love this cover. She sings it with heart and I'd rather have someone singing with emotion than simply good. Although I think she did great!

Also, I'm very thankful that she did this cover or I'd probably not know who Mumford & Sons are - which would be a tragedy. Swift forever! <3

  • taylor swift seems too privileged and commercial to be tasteful but not bad.

  • I like both versions. Mumfords is more aggresive, a bit angry, mad and sad. Taylors is soft, more romantic and sad. But both are lovely.

  • Taylor, Im real happy for and Imma let you finish, but Mumford and Sons had the best version ever made.

Sorry. It had to be said

  • im in love with this this song.. all the haters can just leave..... because tay swift is absolutely AMAZI|NG :)

  • I think she does that note-packing thing a little bit, but overall this is better than I would have expected it to be.

  • no way

  • it's okay... not bad. - but just not.. you know.. it just not gives me the same chill. I don't feel the power in this song!

but of course she have a great voice and can sing (:

    but I need passion..

  • I was nervous to listen to this but she actually pulled this off quite beautifully

  • Cute little sideways glance at 2:57 ...

  • Comment removed

  • WHY

  • Pleasantly surprised this isn't bad at all. Actually, as a musician, I'm pissed at myself and others for probably writing it off before watching it. Props @mynameisreef.

  • gay

  • it sounds better in a british accent than a country accent

  • she's not Mumford and sons, so it's not going to sound like them. Its Taylor Swift, so guess who it's going to sound like? I think this is pretty raw, and more like what she used to sing anyway (like first album stuff), its good.

  • This is actually a pretty good cover. I could see the passion in her face as she sang it.

  • i think its funny that she needed more insturments than mumford and sons did :p lol i just dont like her. mumford and sons just came out and it seems people are already after their music :( give them their dues damnit

  • She interpreted the song as a sad song instead of the anger Mumford and Sons portrayed. but I ain't even mad. She got someone to put a bit of banjo in it, so I'm okay with it haha. I miss the anger and the force mumford and sons had with this song though.

  • i think she's perfect and so is her cover <333

  • I think she did a beautiful job.

  • great live cover

  • hmm... idk

  • Not a Taylor Swit fan but, this was actually really good for me...Maybe Mark Mumford can write songs for her in the future.

  • its ok but not as good as the real band.1 out of 10 i would give her a 9

  • Huge Mumford and Sons fan, not a big Taylor Swift fan........ but I found this cover to be pretty well done. So kudos to Taylor Swift.

  • @weebabyshakeus DATS WHAT IM SAYIN'

    baha.

  • The future is in good hands. Great cover!

  • It's called a COVER! Taylor can put her twist onto it and I thinks he done a really good job.

  • It would seem as though my ears have begun to bleed. Hmm yes...quite so. I do say, this is the most disagreeable Mumford cover I have had the displeasure of stumbling upon, as of late. Yes, quite.

  • Thank you for making a swinging awesomely legendary song as boring as possible. Now I know how that sounds.

  • never listening to any song by taylor . this just ruined it. >.>

  • This version is a little too country sounding for my taste. It was well done, just had a bit more country twang. Probably because of the violin.

  • I love reading all the shit people post on videos trying to sound intelligent, Idc about corporate america or fake/ real artists. This was a good cover and your wrong if you think different.

  • shut up! !!

  • there should be a legislative act after this disallowing Taylor Swift to sing Mumford & Sons,

  • If you're emotional, go for this song. If you've been through something like this, go for this song. If you're gonna blab about how bad you think it is or how boring you think it is, please go.

  • Is nothing freakin Sacred..???

  • good but slow. and im not a fan of taylor at all. love m&s but she did pretty good.

  • Mainstream artists like Taylor, who do covers of 'real songs by real artists' actually try harder and put more emotion to these types of songs.. going from " I wear tshirts and she wears short skirts, I'm cheer captain etc." is a joke of what real artists write about.

Marketers use artists like Taylor Swift and Hannah Montana to brain wash our children. TS if talented im sure, but singing songs that dont have any meaning isnt expression, and thats what artists do.

  • @MSLC16 Obviously shows you haven't listened to much of taylor then

  • Obviously the original is better, that's why it's called a cover. And I thought she did a beautiful job.

  • @llamasrule4ever22 Um.. that isn't why it is called a cover

  • Wow absolutely powerless. It's like she is sedated, no emotion at all.

  • @aengam i think she looks really emotional actually. almost like she's about to cry.

  • @llamasrule4ever22 Actually I was just referring to the singing. I don´t care how singers look while they are singing.

  • It's not always the desire of a cover to sound exactly like it's original. . .

I think she interprets Mumford's message differently than I do, but something tells me Mumford isn't the kind of guy to worry about semantics when it's how someone else interprets his music. The song is performed beautifully by both musicians, at least have enough respect for the art to make your decision based off of the melody, not the name on the marquee.

  • i love taylor swift but she simply can not pull off Mumford and Sons.

  • The only problem was her voice was just too sweet and soft. And there was no emotion.

  • Although it's not a bad cover, it has nowhere near the same level as emotion as the original, I don't think she grasps the true feeling of the song. She doesn't do the song justice.

  • You're not out there singing are you? Lol, no. I love Mumford and Sons, as well as Taylor Swift, she did not 'butcher' this song, she did a decent job. So calm yourself.

  • I don't think this is bad - it's actually pretty good - but Mumford & Sons' version is and always will be the best. But i love the fact that Taylor likes this song, she has great taste of music <3

  • GO DESECRATE SOMETHING ELSE YOU STUPID BITCH

  • @gussiemusgus

so sweet--i am sure marcus mumford would would not approve of your sentiment or language or you

  • Oh. my. God. That sucked! There are moments where it's fine, but wow -.- she screwed this up

  • So very hard to comment on this.....first - if I had never heard and appreciated that which is Mumford and Sons, I might like this. She didn't butcher it, she sang it well. There are just some songs and talents that should not be covered. This is one of them. It lacks....Mumford and Sons.

  • It's not even that bad, geesh. Yes the original is better, but still.

  • no one ever should make mumford and sons covers they will always be the one and only

  • She shouldn't sing songs that are written about real world problems, she should stick to her minor boy trouble songs

  • @miiiilllkky are you aware that this song is about girl troubles?

  • This was well-done for its own version, but I prefer the original because of the anger put into it. This is good for a girl's POV and showing the torment of the sweeping river of depression that drowns your heart after a betrayal from someone close to you. Still a thumbs up.

  • You can't take a song full of rage and power and turn it into a sappy pop song...why butcher something so great

  • Kinda sounds like she's drowning...

Sorry taylor, you can't touch Mumford.

  • ILoveYou Taylor <3

  • I still would though

  • i love t-swift.. she makes this song beautiful in another way.. not bad at all!! Love it!

  • i love how taylor swift sings and its a good version but she is just trying to fill massive shoes

  • It's actually excellent. How many people hating on her are professional musicians? More importantly, have some human decency. We ought to be encouraging one another, not destroying.

  • Comment removed

  • to tell truth its not bad but its really boring.

  • this is terrible, her voice is so shitty omg

  • It isn't that bad..sheesh people calm down.. >.>

  • It's RAGE!! Not rage....

  • i think this cover is absolutely beautiful.

  • @kristaaar a true taylor swift fan and mns fan would know that this cover is annoying. just because someone can sing beautifully does NOT mean she can tackle this song. she crossed a line.

  • dude......what the F!!!

  • oh god...I'm a taylor swift fan, but I couldn't finish watching this. this is terrible :(

  • I absolutely love Taylor Swift, but I think I made the mistake in listening to this before the original...

  • Ms. Swift, I'm sure most people would agree with me that we're happy you can recognize good music . . . but don't EVER do that again.

  • Wow ppl it's called a cover not a remake she sung the song her way and she sounded pretty dang good to me calm your tits ppl!

  • it's not even that fucking bad, why are you all flipping shit about it? it says "cover", not the actual song...

  • Wow, this fucking sucks. Totally killed my fav song.

  • Truly terrible.

Amazing a ''professional'' singer can get off key and still get paid.

  • killed it..hate you

  • I did not think I would like this- but really, she did an excellent job with this cover.

  • sorry but comparing to Mumford & Sons ... that's a VERY VERY bad version!

  • Woah, why does this have so many dislikes?? Such a controversial cover.

  • I think she's good in this song, but if you listen to Mumford and son's version first, then Taylor Swift's one, it's super disappointing. There's no... umph. Like she feels sadness but not furry and tragedy that Mumford and son's feels.

  • this was actually quite now. you know, if you're hurting, this song helps a lot, no matter how it's sang.

  • As a huge Mumford & Sons fan, I feel as though no one will ever be able to do their songs justice. I love Taylor Swift, but she just can't even compare to them.

  • You're doing it wrong. It's pronounced "harr"

  • it's really not bad for what it was.

  • in my opinion i dont like this its just that im a huge mumford & sons fan and i just dont think she gives the song emotion as @shelby9xox says there is no power in it. but thats just my opinion.

  • Very good. Nothing beats the original, but considering this is live, it's very impressive.
