THe fire does create alot of heat and updraft. That making the flight controls harder and more unstable and the smoke making it harder to see....plus maybe a little human error....can cause a crash.

I was hoping to fly directly over the fire, so if the camera was pointed more forward, I probably wouldn't have had a chance... Thanks for the "nice effort", but I was disappointed that I didn't get any video of the fire, or even the fire trucks...maybe next time. :)

It was not the heat, it was the turbulance from the fire. There are very strong updrafts in smoke that can cause a plane to go out of control ( As seen in video ). The plane would have showed heat - melting damage had heat caused this crash. Cool video though, it was worth the cost of a new propeller :)

Good point. But isn't it actually the heat, created by the fire, that actually causes the turbulance and updrafts ? If the same amount of heat was created by some other means, wouldn't the result be the same? Just a thought. And you're right...It was worth the $3 for the propeller! :)
