Well no dip shirlock!!!! They only created the shuffle for someone that likes to do a lot of physical activity and listen to music! They created the ipod video for people that have tons of music and like to watch lots of tv and movies. It just depends on what you are going to use your ipod for!!!!!!!!!!
add on to my last comment; the 1st shuffle being usb directly is a plus (usb is more durable than a jack insert) but if your only usb ports are on the back of your pc like mine (and I had to buy a usb2.0 card as well) your only option it to get a usb male-female wire and most stores charge up to 30 unless you get a deal somewhere like ebay or elsewhere and for a music lover like me my shuffle would have to be more than 8 or 10gb.

I had the same problem, but apple thought about it they knew it had this problem, you can just simply open ur I-tunes go then you can click Prefferences and a another tab ( forgot the name though ) Just click it, choose the button Company-Preff or something like that ( i have the dutch version ) Then I-tunes will auto download a another Firmware version, and that one works just fine,

iTunes is not easy to use. I don't recommend it to anyone, because its really slow to use and I had some big problems using it. You can put songs to your iPod with a foobar mod (i use it with my shuffle). I've also heard about a winamp mod.
if your iq consists of at least 2 figures then you can use itunes with no problem. you dont need to mod it for gods sake. just slow down, read, and figure it out. i dont buy music on itunes. itunes will put any mp3 on your computer in your shuffle with no problem. it can convert anything that it is not familiar with. the bottom line is all apple products are easy to use.
