  • this guy is amazing, and i respect him because hes can play just as good on a clean setting than anybody else can on a distortion setting, hes great!

  • Slow down, try and build a whole pictures rather than playing a beautiful chord progression and then going off into blues madness, it will take some work ofc, but the potentials obviously their; the tone factor and control and both your hands is incredible. So focus on the whole my friend, and you'l be truly great ;-)

  • @crotis1000 yes Danielson, wax on wax off!

  • @crotis1000 Can I see what you can do first?

  • Love the guitar! Awesome...

  • sounds choppy and trebely the les paul has the more poppy powerfull tones bitch

  • great playing man and nice sg what a wide neck though it doesnt look really comfortable especially if youre used to "smaller"necks

  • Llevando por casa un sombrero de Indiana Jones! jajajaja

  • hey man , u have a beautiful work of art there and ur really good , cheers!

  • I think mine is either a 2007 or 2008 so must have same pickups....good tube amp will drive the tone....

  • Very sweet!!! I have a 2007 SG Standard and I love it. I know you said yours is stock but I am just curious if yours has the 490R and 498T pickups in it?

  • tasty tone and fingers

  • PLEASE ANSWER!!!

you can add a tremolo on an SG standard??????????

  • great playing man !

  • since i been loving you

  • nice axe man

  • you are awesome! I'm playing every day hours and hours to learn how to play like you. so i've got interrested how long it has taken you to play so fast and melodic?

  • nice soulful blues , much enjoyed

  • awesome, real nice playing

  • Verry nice,bravo!

  • nice playing, what's great is you take time to communicate with us. very nice brother rock on and keep on posting...

  • @adidas331 Thanks, rock on the holidays

  • Thank you for the advice. Im getting the allparts lyre vibrola for christmas and i didn't know what to do with those anchors. Really apreciate it. Keep on rockin my brother in S.G.itute!

  • how did you remove the original tailpiece anchors?

  • They simply unscrew & cover them with something cosmetic.....etc. In my case velcro circles bought at Walmart.

  • What vol are you at?

  • 2.5 to 3 on a Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue.

  • Those DRs are great little amps!

  • did you drill any holes to install the lyre vibrola? im gonna buy an sg special cherry, and im thinking of getting one of those tailpieces on it.... apreciatte any help...

  • Yes I did drill holes in it since I have no desire to remove it. Just be careful in lineup. Measure twice before you drill. My tailpiece came off a 1968 SG. I'm not sure if they sell new ones but hunt on ebay, that's where I got mine.

    Thanks

  • When it first started, I thought it was Freddy Kruger.

  • I thought the same! HAHA

  • Ya, we just had Halloween and it was hit at the party. Next time I'll get a Zoro hat. Interested in buying the hat?

  • @TheRageAndGrace I was thinking the same thing!!!! LMAO!!

  • Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh STEVE RAY !!!!!

  • you need a backing track............nice licks

  • thanks, I made a CD with some back up tracks, came out not too bad

  • HAH! you look like freddy kruger in this video! nice job! your good! its smart that you replaced your nives on your fingers or else the guitar would be ruined! haha! 5/5

  • Ya the Freddy stuff was unintensionally funny. So much for Salvation Army hats.

  • your vid is testament to "tone is in your fingers"

  • Thanks, I prfer to practice clean to make the fingers work harder. Good amp helps.

  • @AlexManteiv hey man if you realy want to improve finger work (although looks like you dont need it) do that stuff on an acoustic if your technique isnt clean you know right away btw beaUtiful sg man i got an epi '65 reissue looks almost as awsome as that

  • Its a stock 2006 SG. The Fender tube amp plays a big roll in the tone. They ar a great match. The amp is half the instrument (rule of thumb)

  • Nice playing! Is a SG also suitable for jazz/blues sort of things? Or mostly really pop/rock/metal?

  • Thanks,

To me, much has to do with how you set your amp.

I think the SG is great for blues, jazz, if you know how to play jazz

  • would you prefer personaly a sg or a les paul?

  • I prefer the SG because of longer thinner neck. Tone wise, I'd give the LP a slight better edge because of its ability to naturally sustain. The SG is lighter which I like. But the SG will deliver tone with the right amp. In my case, any Fender tube amp. SG also a little better for 60's rock.

  • beautiful playing !!

    also nice SG!!

  • nice.

  • thanks....

  • ya um sorry for my ignorant comment before

  • You remind me of freddy kruger

  • HEY! where can you buy those vibrato's?? im thinki9ng bout installing one but i cant find it anywhere .. do they still make them?

  • I got mine on ebay for 450.00 because it came off a 1968 SG. Start looking in ebay.

  • $450!! are there any cheaper ones than that??

  • You could get the angus young sg that comes with one

  • believe me, that is very cheap for a gibson

  • bella martufè!

  • nice hat

  • I lost the hat recently.

  • u a good guitarist but not really my style. still, great playin, gub on ya m8

  • what is the price of this guitar in the U.S???

  • I paid 1400 USD without vibrato. I bought the 1968 vibrato off ebay for 400.00

  • Love that tone man, I keep coming back to this vid!

  • I've just bought a Gibson sg and I play it threw my Fender Blues deluxe reissue tube amp. Thank you for your licks. Your a great player!!!

  • thanks,

I've been doing it on & off for a long time....

  • grandpa rockin

  • I'm over 50 but ain't no grandpa yet. That would make Clapton a great grand pa and BB KIng at 82 ?????? well....

  • great sound

  • Want tone, simply plug into a tube amp through no boxes....thanks

  • totally agree, the best tone of this kind that ive ever heard is through my marshall jcm 800 50 watt head, trebs mids and bass around 5-7 and preamp about 5-6 and you have the best crunchy blues sound on the market, of course thats opinion based lol

  • You're french, right ?

  • German background,

  • Nice playing man, and love the guitar

  • Comment removed

  • Tell BB, Albert, and Freddie King that...

  • I have a 1964 Strat that I love to play. But the SG was my first serious guitar at age 18. SG is more versatile than one thinks. If your a blues guitar player, you can play blues on any guitar including a 50.00 acoustic one. Guitar technology has nothing to do with playing the blues. In my hayday I was sought after & hired by the best blues bands in Boston for my SG sound.

  • you know to much about stereotypical blues,

i can feeeeel that shit on any guitar..

    THATS the blues man.

  • Crazy Gibson SG man. How much did you pay for that? I like those old school looking ones.

  • Paid 1400 at Guitar Center in 2006, added vibrato from ebay sale.

  • are you using an overdrive pedal in this vid?

  • no, straight through the Fender Delux amp, set about volume of 3

  • no just playing clean through the tube amp

  • no, straight into the Delux Reverb amp.

  • i was never really a blues guy but after hearing that im think im gonna start playing it

  • I was moved by people like Freddy King, Mike Bloomfield, finaly early Eric Clapton,

    Thanks

  • no problem

  • whats a tail peice do

  • its a vibrato, I use it on some older type songs, country.....etc. I added mine to the 2006 SG you see. It came off a 1968 Gibson, bought on ebay.

  • man great a question for how much can i get the vibratoo?

  • I bought the 1968 vibrato on ebay for 450.00 two years ago...that's where you got to look else check vintage shops.

    Thanks...Al

  • did you install the vibrola yourself

  • yes, bought 1968 vibrato on ebay for 400.00 in 2006

  • are they hard to install?

  • Plinky plonk. Plinky plonk.

Is there some point to it?

  • listen to some blues for at least 20 years

  • Absolutely great playing!

  • thanks, love SG's also have a 69 SG

  • nice got same guitar

  • Mine is 2006 regular SG with added 1968 Lyra.

  • i just got gibson sg lol

  • where did you get the tail peice?

ive been looking all over and can't find any.

  • Off ebay. It's from a 1968 SG, paid 400 back then. Today I think they around 500.00.

  • Did you install the lyre vivrato yourself? I'm thinking about doing the same on my 2005 61'reissue. Did you use the existing factory bridge holes? Lastly did it change the sound a little bit? Thanks and love your videos!!

  • Mine is 2006 regular SG and I added a 1968 lyra I got off ebay. I don't think it changed the sound. I drilled holes to install. I'm not sure I'd do it to reissue but I plan to keep this on.

  • I have always been a Srat and semi-hollow guy but lately can't the SG tone out of head.BTW very well played 5stars.

  • I own 2 strats and Gibson 345 & Gretsch Country Gentlemen. Love them all for sound but the SG is smooth sound low action, when not too over driven. SG was my first pro guitar when I was 19 years old, long time ago.

  • freddy kruger tocando la viola...

  • yes...your the 2nd to make that connection. I have a Roy Rogers cowboy hat as an alternative to consider.

  • By the way it's not the guitar that gets the tone it's the guitar player.

  • And....its the amp you choose too. I've been a Fender tube amp guy for 30 plus years. It's got all tone you need without spending 2 grand on fancy tube amps.....thanks

  • Very nice, I really enjoy your playing. And I love your hat, very blues.

  • SG is my first guitar thanks

  • what kind of amp u playing with?

  • 65 Fender Deluxe reissue. Tubes amps are the way to go!

  • my late grandpa got one those lel pau;s befor mister les paul took his name off of it and then became sg but yeah my grandpa got it in a pawn shop for 220 dollars so checked the serial number on it to see if it was lagit and it was XD

  • hey man, awesome video! Im about to get an SG and was interested in adding a vibrato arm. tell me, did it affect the amount of sustain your guitar gets? and how does the tuning hold? thanks

  • where did u get the tremolo

  • Off ebay, its a 1968 trem off a 68 SG. Paid 400.00 for it 2 years ago.

I've seen more on ebay so keep checking.

    Thanks

  • thanks i really like that look. and im really wantin one for my sg

  • That is a 2006 Gibson SG Standard right?

    I got the same guitar.

But how can you have a 68' tremolo system on it??

I'm dying to get a hold of that.

  • lose the hat and your good to go

  • wow you are awesome dude

  • Like angus Young´s guitar

  • this is a gibson sg angus young signature...It has the vibrato unit... I don't like it... I like more the sg special...I have a copy of it..

  • No, it isn't. It's a Gibson SG standard with a vibrato added, as written in the description.

  • I'm pretty sure the guy knows what he's playing...he is the one that bought it after all..

  • just because its a gibson sg with a lyre vibrola or tremolo whatever you want to call it doesn't mean its an angus young signature.

Just read the description and you will know what kind it is.

  • where can i buy the hat?

  • YES! love it dude awesome playing brilliant guitar XD

  • Nice SG! im more of a Les Paul person but still SG wuz the original Les Paul, and i love how the red ones look

  • The SG was not the original Les Paul! The SG started as a VARIANT of the Les Paul when it became unpopular during the late 50s. It was called the Les Paul SG. Les Paul himself refused to have his name associated with it, as he had no involvemant with it, thus, "SG".

  • It's so great to hear you playing again! It reminds me of how I used to play my ass off just trying to keep up with you.

I also have a 2006 SG, but mine has P-90 pickups. I also have a Vibrolux now, inspired by you.

  • I hate that vibrola whammy bar on SG's, use it and the whole tuning goes out of whack.

    Nice playing and sound

  • I don't really thing you can consider it a whammy bar. Just a vibrato unit.

You have beautiful tone and the chops to match.

  • awesome tone and playing. what strings do you use? thanks

  • Ernie Ball Hybrids starting with .09

  • Brillant tone! Brilliant playing!

Just wondering im thinking of getting a sg are they neck heavy though with a strap on? so the neck pulls it down?

  • Thanks,

SG is more versatile than people realize.

I've used it country & western.

  • That is the absolute truth. There's guys like you doing what you do with an SG, and then you have guys like me who use them for metal. (I have a Gibson SG 61 reissue)

    Great playing, btw!

  • me to

  • Great job man I have an sg too

  • i can feel the blues!

    I enjoyed it :)

  • I recorded last fall, hope I can still remember what I was doing.

    thanks

  • smooth, real smooth

  • thanks !!!!

  • yeah man sounds great... keep on playing. :)

  • Thanks much.

Where in Germany are you? I have relatives around Stuttgart.

  • in the near of sondershausen. around 70km west from leipzig

  • Hi Alex, Love the sound! I see that you bought this SG in 2006. could you tell me what model please. Standard or custom? Also what pick ups has it got on it. Are they busrtbuckers or standard gibson humbucker or something else?

    Thanks

  • Its just a SG Standard with original pups. I only added the tremolo which I got off ebay from a 1968 SG. The Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue amp has a lot to do with it.

  • well its not the same is it

  • sg has got tone :P

    nice......

  • Move over Rover, Alex is taking over! Lovin those blues!

  • that guys dressed like freddy kruger

  • I hope he looks better than Freddy. Its the hat!

  • I was so relaxed watching that, it was really good..........

  • i got the same sg as u except its black with no vibrato

  • I added the vibrato myself.

  • i got the same sg as u except its black with no vibrato

  • i got the same sg as u except its black with no vibrato

  • i got the same sg as u except its black with no vibrato

  • Hi , nice playing ! how mutch was your guitar?

    Love and peace

  • its 2006 model that I bought from Guitar Center for 1295.00. I bought the vibrato lyra (from 1968 SG model) on ebay for 495.00 and added it myself.

  • Did the lyra maked a difference in the guitar's tone?

    Love and peace

  • No but I like to use it for slight vibrato. A good Fender tube amp is the trick. The Fender Vibrolux or Deluxe is a great match.

  • i realy want an sg for my next guitar,,and play like you :P that was awsome

  • Very good! nice sound.I had not yet tried to play Blues on my SG.

  • Hey! Sam Neil! Jurassic PArk!!!

  • I couldn't agree more. i guess ill be scaveging on ebay a bit more in my lifetime, hahaha

  • I luckly was able to get an epiphone g400 sg limited edition that has a vobrola. I don't understand why you cant buy vibrola kits. the only way is find an origional, which is hard enough, and to expensive. my dream guitar is a 61 gibson sg reissue with vibrola in BLACK. but they dont have that either. why are vibrolas so scarce?

  • Good question????? I don't know but I've always had one since I was 18 (now 52) so I'm use to them and an SG without one seems naked to me.

  • Good stuff.

Picked up a Tokai SG recently.

    Keep those blues rolling, thanks!

  • Thanks, SG is so underated these days. Listen to Derick Trucks.
