  • Great song!!!

  • Good job with this Tom T Hall song

  • FOR KENNY EDWARDS....REST IN PEACE......

  • i love this. keith sounded so sheepish when he flubbed the words in the second verse just a little. that's just how he was.

  • Just an amazing song from Tom T Hall and there are loads of fine versions from all manner of artists and Keith was an amazing talent. He does it justice without question.

  • I love this song. I wish that Keith had recorded a studio version. It was a sad loss; if only he could have controlled the monkey on his back......

  • Just heard this for the first time even though I loved keith..I am moved to tears..thank you so much...now I need to go play it again...and again...

  • Aboslutely beautiful video Sharon

  • Does it sound like he's feeling it?

Man . . . thanks for putting this up.

  • Yes, IMHO, Keith Whitley was the best singer/artist who ever lived!

It is very sad he left us so soon, but I've been a "YouTuber" for years now & so very happy to see all the people, young & old, who have kept his memory going on strong! :-)

It seems like each month or so we get more & more people appreciating Keith for his Awesome talent & recognize Keith as a True Country Legend!

Rest High On That Mountain dear Keith. You will Never be forgotten!!! :-)

  • awesome...

    ---------------

    HNY 2010

  • I was shocked when Elvis died, I drunk for a week and didnt go to work when Keith Died,

  • wow , such emotion, its a damn shame that you cant hear music like this on the radio. Whatever they play on the radio AIN'T Country. This Defines country music to me

  • My first time to hear it. If nobody told me, I would guess it was Vern Gosdin. I had never noticed the similarity in phrasing that I hear on this song.

  • I could listen to this over and over. It gives me cold chills. Keith just had a way of singing a song. He sang it with pure feeling. Nashville doesn't know what country music is anymore. This is country. Not Taylor Swift or RASCAL Flatts. Keith was a true great. He is very sadly missed. Keith Whitley forever.

  • Keith was an amazing man and the best country music singer/songwriter ever!!!

  • what a song ! thanks

  • this is one of Tom 'T' Halls greatest songs, and Kieth Whitley just dose it so much justice, Thanx for posting,,,

  • Keith was the"best" country singer ever.!!

  • keith whitley is the greatest singer of all time, his music is timeless, what a legend thank you so much for youre music.

  • Thanks for stopping by and for your nice comment!

  • MAMsMOM97..Where can i find this beautiful song to put on my space music player? I've tried and just come up with nothing.

  • Oh my Lord, they JUST DON'T make voices like Keith's anymore, one of a kind for sure, is a tragedy to think how much more GREAT music he could have put out all these years... SO SADLY missed to this day... what a loss...

  • This is absolutely one of the best songs ever.live ,and sounds better than anything coming out of nashville these days.keith whitley a true legend. Respected among his peers!

  • I'm sorry but what you said almost sounds laughable, as Keith Whitley has far surpassed any "peers". His voice is far better than any other country singer ever.

  • Two great artists with such intense words.LEGENDS!!!This is truely deep and should stay on for all to hear.

  • please dont take this off youtube, this is the best song keith did.written by the great tom t hall

  • Tom T Hall is a country music song writing legend. I especially love his "I miss Alot Of Trains"

Keith's voice is perfect for this. Damn beautiful is what it is.

  • I'm not sure how I missed this post of yours until now Sharon, but it is wonderful....hearing his beautiful voice is worth making a slight adjustment on volume control..the pictures you posted with the vidoe are wonderful. Who is the young man kneeling at Keith's grave? That is such an emotionlly moving picture with Keith's smiling face watching from above...like we all like to believe his is doing now.

  • Thank you so much! Better late than never, right? That young man is an up-and-coming country singer by the name of Scott Hisey, a student of the Keith Whitley School of Hardcore Honky-Tonk Country Music. I've seen him in concert, and he's excellent. I know Keith is smiling down on us. All the friendships that he helped to create, all the singers who praise him with their music, the throngs of fans who still travel to Sandy Hook every Labor Day weekend... How can he not smile?

  • As always, thank you for the reply Sharon. Scott Hisey doesn't seem to have anything on you tube, not that I could find.

Back to Keith, this song is just perfect for me and my husband. He traveled (mostly flying) across the US for Xerox for 35 years. He flew over our house a lot leaving DFW. I wasn't sleeping though, usually I was going to or from DFW. This one and Willie Nelson's "You Were Always On My Mind" fit us to a T.

  • Never heard this one til now and it is fabulous...have searched all over amazon for this with no luck. Anyone know if this was ever put to CD or casette??

  • No, this was from a bootleg concert recording from a concert he put on in Holland in the spring of '89, when he made the trip to Europe to make an appearance on the Wembley Country Music Festival that year in London. The few tracks I have from this concert are relatively poor quality--low volume, etc. It was not recorded from the soundboard.

  • Well thank you for posting this so we can all enjoy it. Keith hit a home run with this one...just perfect.

  • Wow, Keith, what a vocal performance again . . . I wish I'd been there - coming from Holland I feel kinda guilty . . . well, huge thanks for making this available on the net!!!

By the way - I think Tom T. Hall is still alive, kickin', pickin' and writin' - hope I'm right.

  • Wow! Cool! It constantly amazes me how many people from Europe have been touched by Keith. He's got quite a following in many European countries such as England, Germany, Holland, Greece, etc. And yes, Tom T. is still alive and doing his thing. A phenomenal storyteller he is, too!

  • yes he is still kicking..lol, his son dean hall is very good too...

  • This song is killer. Very good. 5 stars!!!

  • Keith could take any song and make it his own. I wish I could have seen him live, just once.

  • AMEN

  • kelley1054, Keith will always be sadly missed. He was a geat singer and could have gone far in counrty music.

  • A great singer, a great song. It doesnt get better. Keith also hit a grand slam with another great Tom T Hall song - "Another Town".

  • You're right, I forgot Tom T. did write "Another Town." That's a great song, too! Thanks for stopping by!

  • This song is from the same Tom T. Hall album as "Another Town". The album is called 'The Rhymer and Other Five and Dimers'.

  • always a good song. tom t. hall was a great songwriter.

  • No one could tell a story quite like Tom T. Thanks, Jeff.

  • Thank you!
