I was thinking that applying string savers would be a complicated process. As I turned on my computer to watch this video, I tried applying them myself. It was EASY. Haahh now I cant wait to get my racquet strung with natural gut and see how well these savers work :D
It does not dampen any vibration, it actually make string a little bit stiffer. (think about there is harder plastic between the strings. You will need dampener if you use it originally. It definitely does save string by as much as 2x durable. Some people like it, some people don't. I'm not a big fan of the savers, it's kinda increasing pressure to my arm. You should give it a try, you might like it.
This is so funny to me. I've been playing tennis since 1969. My kids laugh when I tell them I was the last generation to play in long white pants. THIS YEAR was the first time ever I've heard of string savers! I think it's too late in life for me to begin using them now...lol
This technology has been out for more then 15 years. It's pretty smart and it actually works.
Though I don't use it my self I know some people that do. I prefer to pop my strings after some use. You lose tension over time anyways.
But this does work. I tried ONCE while I played high school tennis and I used to break strings every 1~2 weeks. My tensions were usually at 66 ~ 68. The 1 racket with the savers lasted the whole school year. But then again it was my 3rd racket and hardly used.
ummm...one important question... i am a player who generates a lot of spin when playing tennis...if i use string savers and then put spin, will the string savers fall out?
I've been using string savers for about 9 years, I've never had one fall out. I generate a huge amount of spin, but the way the string savers are designed actually allow the strings to move more freely against each other. They are great at preventing fraying and notching and I find they have no negative affect on my game.
I hit a lot of topspin on my shots and don't really have a flat serve; just a kick, slice and twist. My entire game is built around movement on the ball. I also use 10 string savers in a zig zag pattern. I've never lost one.
hey guys do string savers work?? Coz if these increase tension and pull it apart you would play with more spin and so the string would start fraying right??
this prevents the string from rubbing each other. If your using full poly I thik this is useless, but if ur using Natural gut and poly then this is helpful
Do they keep the strings aligned too ??

@Chipinjack Nope. If anything, they make it worse.

@YULitle According to my knowledge because I've put string savers on my racquet, they do keep the strings alinged...

Its just an elastic band tied around the strings, works as a string dampener, but dirt cheap!
GenYuden1 2 years ago
do you know what is that rubber/elastic all about?
not the anti-vib rubber thing, the elastic that agassi or sharapova and roddick (to name a few) are using.

When you are applying the string savers, can you snap the string if you're separating the two strings apart?
QuannieBoy 2 years ago
what do they do?

Is the NSix One Tour a flexible frame? What would you reccomend otherwise?
Nkatsikanis 2 years ago
No, extremely still, not like the k factors, but pretty stiff

they don't work that well, using kevlar strings are better.

the only difference is the paintjob and the material the frame is composed of..
it's the exact same frame, ever since the prostaff tour 90 just with tech updates.
