Sometimes I wonder if their limited success is due to Britt Daniels average looks. Let's face it, he isn't all that easy on the eyes and maybe this is why they aren't as big as they should be.
Nah, in the indie world looks don't count for a lot, and a lot of times funny looking people can spin it as charm. I think what has worked against spoon has been a steady production of albums that are consistently very good, without a true standout album or even single.
Also, these guys are regular folk, working musicians, so it's difficult to create the cult of personality that you can with, for example, charismatic party animals
@griffenb Spoon was going to be famous like 10 years ago, but they got terrible luck in Elektra because of bad promotion and a bad manager, then I think there was a lawsuit or something. So they had to start over. So it's like a late 90s band becoming famous now, that's why they are different than the rest of things we see at the moment, they had the vibe of that moment (remember the Verbe?).
@JBnotthescotch Better late than never.

Britt Daniel is a singer who cares more about what it sounds like than how he's looking doing it. One of the best.

great song live - saw them a while back in Seattle... this album is strong, their older stuff is pretty tight also, look em up.
They've had a lot of airplay to TV, movie soundtrack etc... been around for some time now and Britt Daniel is very prolific
