  • First went to the Diskery about 40 years ago - they introduced me to the most amazing music, always great hospitality - Jimmy and Liam - the nicest guys - My LP Selection is totally down to them - FAB SERVICE - great tea, cakes and most of all wonderful and inspirational music selection. Sad to learn about Morris - will come and and see you guys sooooooooon! Lynne Myers

  • Sadly Morris the owner of the shop died this week. I have been using this shop for 25 years and hopefully Jim and Liam will keep it going strong

  • I went to The Diskery for the very first time on Thursday. What a fantastic shop. Only in there for two minutes before Liam offered me a cup of coffee. What a nice bloke! Will definitely visit again when next in Birmingham.

  • What Jimmy & Liam in the 21st century ! No I can't beleive it, top one lads, I do miss coming to see you guys but as you know I have my own shop now & work it 7 days a week!! All the best for the next 40 years & hey Jimmy haven't heard a decent joke in ages

  • Love this shop.

  • Well done guys.Memories. Love and Blessings Bob Parfitt

  • Nice one Jimmy. Keep up the good work - Alan

  • Just visited The Diskery for the first time in over 50 years. Just like stepping into a time capsule. Jimmy was really helpful & went out of his way get me the music I wanted. Pay it a visit on your next trip to Brum

  • Absolutely brill to see this on you tube...I worked at reddingtons Rare record Shop and Threshold recors in Brum..and Rca Record co in west brom..bought many northern and soul sounds from here in the 70s....so HAPPY to see that THE DISKERY has stood the test of time..througt dedication..and is still going..well done you guys..keepin the faith now over in Australia..but will NEVER forget my roots..of which your shop was a part! RIGHT ON! KEEP ON KEEPIN ON!...JULES ALLEN

  • Been going the Diskery for most of my life, in fact I've probably bought 90% of my LPs from Jimmy. There's always a warm welcome and a cup of tea and Jimmy has me in fits every time. No longer live in Brum so don't get to visit as often as I'd like, but when I get the chance a visit to the Diskery is a must shops like this just can't be beat. Fondly remember all the other shops well, Dale-Vac, Virgin [when it was in a tiny shop next to the Victoria Law Courts] Happy days. Cheers Jim & Liam.

  • It really is amazing. The joke I have about The Diskery is that they have seen off all the competition over the years. Who has gone: Reddingtons, "2nd City Music, Cyclops, Dale Vac (LOL!) j'taime Dale Vac. Rockers, who set up at the old shop in Hurst St, Val at the Rag Market, Virgin, Vinyl Dreams, Reckless, Threshold. There is a lot and my memory is really only from 1976. Nice to see The NEU! box set behind Jimmy's head; only a shop like the Diskery would care about the very best in Krautrock

  • I first visited the Diskery in about 1955 - memory is treacherous, but I believe it was then in Moor Street, on the first floor of a premises conveniently situated next to a pub called the Turk's Head. The record that was playing as I climbed the stairs was Ottilie Patterson singing Reckless Blues - unforgettable.

Good to know that the Diskery's still going. Just a couple of corrections to the notes above: it's gramophones, not gramaphones; and surely Dalziel rather than Baddiel :)
