Andi is a great singer! And I think that’s not fair to compare these two singers (Kiske and Deris) using songs sung by the original singer (Kiske). Make Kiske sing songs written by or for Deris and he would loose! In my opinion Kiske's voice is too "operatic", while Deris is more metal and sharp, sometimes more raw. You should see a live video of Kiske singing "Mankind" first (3:06 - suxxx), avaiable on youtube ofcourse.

Not to whine or anything, but this isnt fair :/ I saw Helloween on this tour and this was among the very last songs they played in a long setlist. In a small place in Lund, he was amazing all the way through there.
I for one love Andi Deris and I'm happy that Helloween still exists.
I must say, I respect the guys behind this video, because clearly, I havent seen a single video on youtube that has this creative critic against deris. However, this place is full of deris vs kiske videos which proves pretty much nothing, but this one does. Thing is - there should be no universal "top" musicians, it's just a matter of whose antennae you agree with. To stay with our example, the fact that one musician is more skilled than the other doesn't necessarily mean that you "feel him". This applies to anyone. Jaco Pastorius astonished me, but John Entwistle gives me shivers down the spine:)=

I agree that Andi has over the years had some unfortunate performances. Yet I cannot think of a single rock vocalist that has not done so as well. It has to do with a thing called human nature.

Not to whine or anything, but this isnt fair :/ I saw Helloween on this tour and this was among the very last songs they played in a long setlist. In a small place in Lund, he was amazing all the way through there.
I for one love Andi Deris and I'm happy that Helloween still exists.

this is not very honest : you can do it with many singers, I think.
And Deris did some very goods albums with Helloween : Tims of the Oath, The Dark ride, or Gambling with the devil.
Even then , I agree : Kiske, come back in Helloween.

I must say, I respect the guys behind this video, because clearly, I havent seen a single video on youtube that has this creative critic against deris. However, this place is full of deris vs kiske videos which proves pretty much nothing, but this one does. Slow motions are appareantly made for people to notice the weakness of his voice, not to to sound funny or something (though it does, but still has a point) and i can see the maker(s) of this video did know what they were doing and I like it.

andi might not be perfect but at least he's got some heart in the middle ranges, and he writes great songs. if you're searching for the usual standard metal songs and for the "great" high pitched singers, helloween is not the band for you, not anymore.

as much as I love Helloween, and Andi... When ever I hear him live, I always have a little voice at the back of my head saying 'he sucks'... and tbh, live he does always go out of key from time to time, and his head voice is pretty cringe... but to be fair, I've watched a few vids of him and he was awesome.
