I think Jordan Officer has a fluidity, as he switches from rhythm to lead, a great retro-modern tone, and very good taste. Who else had that ability -- Jimi Hendrix? Joe Pass? Bill Frisell? Even the rhythm player in this video is very good. Most people hate jazz guitar. But in this case it's really just good music.
Whenever something original comes along, the blind, the deaf, the dumb - the "Confederacy of Dunces" - is always there to denounce it. This is sophisticated jazz at its best, and Officer is an understated master. Perhaps, though, to gain a wider audience he might consider exposing himself for real appreciation among today's moronic music lovers. (He'd certainly make a lot more money.)
Jordan is one of the worst jazz guitar player ive seen in my life.I really dont know what hes doing there. The rest of the band is great but Jordan Officer is the most overated player ive seen!Sorry but i have to express myself about that cause im tired of hearing how good he is cause hes not!If you know the guitar you know that for sure!
he's good at what he does, he's not some super guitar hero or anything but he fits perfectly with this band. He adds just the right texture... if anything it's the local media that loves to overhype anything and everything... that's hardly jordan's fault.... his solo is great here in this context in my opinion
@lennybreaugod Seems you prefer an in-your-face guit=tar style. Amplified to 750 watts or so. Obviously you don't get it; you may not like his tyle but to call him "the worst guitar player I've seen" perhaps provides a clue: you're supposed to HEAR his music, not SEE it. IMHO JO plays some of the best subtle, intricate jazz. Maybe too subtle for you?
@lennybreaugod -Man thats kind of cruel he is playing the song and in the style of the song and supporting the vocal. Granted he is not a creator but a re-creator but most are.
Lovely stuff! So relaxedand effortless! To hear the origin of the "Tea for Two" like riff in the first chorus of the tune listen to the Count Basie Orchestra's recording of the same number made on 21st January 1937 for Decca.
I heard Suzie interviewed a while ago and fell in love with her sound. To stumble upon her version of this song has really made my sunday morning bright.....GREAT band, rythm. swing and style beyond compare. I just can't say enough....
I saw the guys in Samois and Jordan Officer was amazing. His tone stole the show for me and he does just whats needed. I would love to play as well as him. so there
I wouldn't bet the farm on it, but Jordan's guitar looks like an early Epiphone with a DeArmond pickup attached. The fret markers and tuning keys look right, and the logo is somewhat long. See for yourself. Cheers.

@lennybreaugod He gets to perform, while you only teach. It's not hard to see why.

No modern musicians in the world perform this kind of music better than Susie and Jordan.

Does anyone know what Jordan's guitar is?
rll1954 4 years ago
Guess not.
rll1954 3 years ago
Jordan is playing a 1940 Gibson L-7C with a DeArmond guitar "Mike" through a Fender Pro Junior (stock).

I'm sorry, slip of the finger, I mean 1949 not 1940.
