@santahchrist But all will be forgiven & forgotten if the Canucks win the Cup this year.At least Nathan Lafayette made the effort to at least try to send the game into overtime, and everybody would have definitely criticized him for not even doing that.
Canucks shouldve ran Richter as much as the Rangers did to Mclean.....why Lafayette didnt steamroll Richter after he hit the post will always be a mystery.....oh well....
I'm not a Canucks fan (I'm a Habs fan) but I can see why people hate this moment so much. If this happened to my team I'd probably not even get out of bed the next day. You guys have a good chance of winning the Cup in the next decade or so, hopefully that will heal the wounds.
I was glad to see the Rangers win just because it was the end of their 54 year drought, but a part of me was also torn that the Canucks fell short because they were the underdogs in that series and they are Canadian. They also didn't buy their team, unlike the Rangers(with the exceptions of Brian Leetch & Mike Richter)!
@TheTzdope thanks for not using some grade 1 level insults on me when you wrote that...thanks..i appreiateb that...im not gonna be a troll on here..glad to see your not too goes to show not everyone is a moron....cheers
im a canucks fan but this 'the canucks would win now' bullshit has got to stop!!! this video is about the rangers winning the cup in 1994 so fellow canuck fans stfu and let byegones be byegones and lets look forward instead of crying about 15 years ago for god's sake.
wow. now you there slickshapiro are one of very few people who actually know what it means to let go and move on. I congratulate you on that. too bad Patriot fans can't do this over the 2008 super bowl.
Yeah!!! And while their at it, us Ranger fans should continue to constantly talk about this year until the Rangers win the Stanley Cup again! Which probably won't be for a while. We have some good players right now like Gaborik, Callahan and Lundqvist, but we need some way better players if we're competing with the Devils, Penguins, Capitals and Blackhawks.
It's always easy to say "could've,would've,should've",people!Lafayette was obviously trying to tie it but luck was not on his side or the Canucks' that night.
The Canucks had 2 post shots just in the final 10 minutes of the 3rd period.
If anyone should have scored, it should have been Gelinas. He had Richter down and beat. All he had to do was slide it into the net. Not only did Richter luck out there, but Kevin Lowe was also there to clear the puck. This could have easily been a 4-3 Vancouver win.
Most would, but not Ranger fans. The Rangers were 2-2 in OT during the playoffs, 1-2 at home. Not to mention 1 of those losses came against those very Canucks. I think Vancouver could have won it had it gone to OT.
I witnessed Lafayette's career since his junior days with the Cornwall/Newmarket Royals and there was a lot of potential for him to make good in the NHL. Unfortunately, he career peaked in those series, and it's sad that it ended with a shot on the goal-post in game 7.
sports are a game of inches. if it had gone an extra inch inside the post richter would have gotten his glove on it. the canucks just didn't get the bounce. they had a chance earlier to tie it and didn't do it when gelinas had an open side. but that is just the way it goes sometimes.
Nathan Lafayette was wide open. All he had to do was to poke it in the back of the net. Maybe he was feeling the pressure from behind by Glenn Anderson.
@zx7gp Even if Nathan Lafayette tied it up,what guarantee would that have been of a Canucks' Stanley Cup win that year?Nobody was blaming him when the Canucks fell behind 3-1 in that series, that's for sure!
On those two shots, he did luck out. Gelinas clearly had him beat. No reason not to score. Lafayette's shot was a bit different because if it didn't hit the post, Richter might have gloved it.
it's good that teams can't buy the cup anymore. I don't like the Canucks at all, but they epitimozed what the NHL should have been and now is. A team built on talent and development rather than some tycoon buying talent.
After beating the Devils to get there and taking the Nuks to seven, were the Rangers going to be denied by Nathan Lafayette in MSG? No. Sorry Vancouver.
I don't know why everybody in Vancouver gives Lafayette such a hard time and considers him the goat in this series!Anybody can hit the post at the most inopportuned time;that could have just as easily happened to Trevor Linden or Pavel Bure.
Lafayette will forever be on my shitlist because of this

nice play by Courtnall - he takes a huge hit by the D to make that pass. unfortunate on the finish, might have been game 7 OT.

No, the Canucks players just took bad shots. He wasnt lucky, the Rangers outplayed the Canucks and Kirk McLean gave up several weak goals.
