  • Problem is my local swim instructor SUCKS! I'm 4 weeks in a swimming class for adults and not once has she gone over how to float. And when I sink in the water she just laughs. I've had to go to asking other people I see swimming for help on this.

  • i can barely float. it takes a moderate amount of concentration i have to keep my arms out, i have to kick slightly or my legs fall straight down and i have to hold my breath for most of the time then when i gotta take a breath i do it quickly.

  • What if you dont have stairs in the pool?

  • I have a problem,sir.

i can swim but when im pushing my head up of the water by using my hands,i just cant! is it because i have no enough strength in my arm?

  • i remember in the beach

there's a person who is doing floating and he's gettin far away o_O....

    i think he's sleeping?

  • I've tried this for a few days. I find it terrifying for a couple of reasons. I can't tell where I am in the pool; I can't get up from floating unless I'm still at the edge (without flailing); the water often covers my face unexpectedly and I don't know what that means I'm doing wrong (so I don't know what to adjust). When I get water in my nose or throat, I can't expel it.. So: How do you stand up?? Or what if I float over to where it's too deep?? How do I get up?? Anyone, please

  • @Emoticonia

spread out your arms, raise the knees to your chest and at the same time lean forward, and voila

  • i cant do it fuck :(

  • you want to float buy a ton of salt pour all of it in your pool and then you will be able to float

  • The MOST difficult thing to do is TRYING to relax lol its just hard :(

  • Whenever I stand in the water. Without holding anything life in the middle. I sink. I weigh 97 pounds. Is that normal?

  • I think i know how to swim now beacause, everytime i go underwater i accidenlty breathe instead of holding my breath.Because of that I keep getting clorine in my nose and it feels weird. But I tried it again and i felt great! No water up my nose holded my breath for as long as i can.Ahhh lifes great when you try new things.

  • lie on your back and then relax first you would think that you are about to sink but actually you are not sinking water is about to push your forehead up and then enjoy floating

  • @philsiu0722 Thanks. Im going to try that tomorrow. lol

  • Everytime I do that i sink. WHY?

  • how do you float standing up?

  • why float just prepare ur grave while drowning :O

  • I know how to float now!@)$*!@_$*

  • I guess Im too heavy (110 lbs.) cuz I cant float!

  • ;/ i can't float!

  • I was almost drowning once and my cousin didnt help me:(

  • i did that...and Chuck Norris opened a riff in time and space and killed us all

  • last time i did that.......i died.

  • @kriger788 =(

  • didu touch the grounf???

  • Well, the least you could do is respect the knowledge he has and appreciate what he is doing. After all, there are 75 people who agree with me. Peace!

  • keep presing 9

  • how do you float standing up? i know it's a stupid questions for others but i really never thought of it...

  • Why aren't you paddling and kicking your legs

  • wow you're really good! this summer im attempting to learn how to swim. :D thanks

  • 0:34

  • women float easier than men i noticed... ..weird

  • @OnyxAgainstTheWorld ~ they have airbags... (which also come in handy during a car accident ;))

  • @OnyxAgainstTheWorld coz women are more dense than male....density should i say

  • I still sink with a lungful of air. My body does not naturally want to float...

  • 0:37 his back is itchy

  • Oh thanks youtube, I was drowning and i looked on my water-proof ipad and when i looked on how to float, i saw the advertisement and now i'm dead...thanks u-tube.....

  • No need to say ur name for a hundred videos,..

  • yes u need periodic sculling..

  • I can easy do the float then my buddy...(even though he's very good in swimming..):))

  • floating on your stomach is not easyer but you should not scare from back float.... that's it :)

  • I wish this was as easy as it looks :(

  • Every time I try to float on either my back or stomach

My legs always seem to sink and if I try to pick them up my head will go underwater

I've tried pushing my hips up but my head usually goes underwater as well

I wish this was as easy as it looks

  • THAAANKYOUUUUUUUU!!!!

  • how to get up when you are done..cause i don't know how to swim

  • Does swimming regularly make you grow taller?

  • @TheLeilisa :O

  • I watched this vid about 5 times but when ever i try to float when I but my head back and lift my stomachs up my head goes completely underwater so I have to tip it forward so my legs go down so I am standing! :S

  • @Astrox123 it happens in the beginning, just try to push your hips up and u'll c that u can float..

  • @Astrox123 it happens in the beginning.. just try to push up your hips and u'll float gradually!

  • Im hungry -.- oh uhm yea nice vid

  • A TIP FOR ALL, If your legs gradually sink, try to arch your back and put your legs up high, if that doesn't work, try to tilt your heard until, you can't anymore, it really helps.

  • INHALING AND EXHALING IS VERY IMP.

  • say moar A's

  • i can float and sleep at the same time i just need to put a mattress in the water

  • @1256angelina water!

  • this hella comes in handy when u get tired of treading

  • Toriello fails to point out that one's hips and legs are heavier than water, and therefore sink. The survival float requires adjustment for that. This means periodic sculling, usually to raise the head above water to gain a breath But already, for this video, the damage is done: one must exhale before raising one's head. That is not even mentioned.

Toriello, that is not a small oversight, it is serious incompetence.

  • if you want to make an adjustment to the things you watch or hear, just point it out, it is rude to judge the man's competence by a 2 min video. by the way, this video is only an intro to the technique, as he says at the end: for more info, contact you local instructor, or something. rnbramwell, the only thing you point in your comment is some of your frustration.

  • @stangaciubogdan1985 Two minutes is plenty of time to include those relevant facts. Not rude. I just don't have your low expectations: My qualifications: taught swimming as a Senior Red Cross Instructor; Internat'l competitive swimmer for 10 yrs; University swimmer for 4 yrs; adviser in comp. swimming for Sport Ontario; high school swim coach for a winning provincial team.; a NAUI Advanced Divers certification and 48 hours of underwater dive experience, though it is not my favorite sport.

  • @RnBramwell so why don't you post a video on floating then??

  • @24sbm120 Because I have other goals, as do you.

  • @RnBramwell I bet you're either a competitive swim coach or a trained pro.

  • @RnBramwell Lets be easy on the guy.....He is giving whatever information that he has. Its not like we have paid him to teach us all these techniques.

  • @boeing747200lr Well, ...okay. There are lots of people who know the point I made..

  • i have a swim club right down my street and i have to pay money just to get in

  • why is floating on your stomach easier than on your back?

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen You feel far more prone when on your back.

  • @DeathToTheseWalls I dont get it. Prone to what?

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen Laying on your back is your fetal position. You are most vulnerable in this position as you cannot see exactly what you are doing.

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen because u have farts

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen cause when you're floating upright, your face is usually above the water, which allows you the breathe and the air in your lungs brings your body to float on the water

  • @StrawhatxLuffy oh ok

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen Cuz if you float on stomach long enought - you will float FOREVER.

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen because when you are on your back and your head goes into the water, your ears will fill with water, while that does not happen while you are on stomach ;)

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen becouse of different shape of body

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen because you feel much safer facing the water and you dont get ansious ,

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen

I don't know Because I love playing dead (floating on your stomach) but when i do it the other way, I sink

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen Because breathing facing the air is easier than doing it facing the water

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen what????????????, i can only float on my back, i will drown if i float on my stomach, because my head will be underwater

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen

for me because i'm facing the water

  • @FromUTube2BigScreen bec u can see the bottom of the swimming pool while on ur back after 5 sec u will discover ur on the bottom of the pool looking at the roof XD

  • Sir your video is very beneficial

I like swimming very much. But unfortunately there are no pools or any other swimming facilities exist in our area. Kindly send me ur more videos or link through which i could learn swimming briefly. HOpe You will accept my request

    thanks.

  • I just use the dead man's float

  • wow thanks for this teaching so now i can float in the water
