  • I heard Reynor from about 2:30-3:00. It's cool you get to be home and relax once in awhile. YOU DESERVE IT.

  • Safe Zone

  • You know Mr Townsend. For a man who wants to play bass. You can't half play that guitar. The shift you have done towards the mellow (DTP's Ghost), is just fantastic. Andy (my father) says it's the best so far. Keep it coming and I shall keep on listening. Cheers Devvy

  • Man... this is so good it could be a song itself!! love it, jam on dev, jam on :)

  • I guess 3 nameless users, originating from the dark ages of SYL stumbled upon this video, and pressed the dislike button. Sad panda.

I have no point, just wanted a conclusion... of sorts.

  • devin you need to record an all-instrumental-solo-guitar-like-ambient album one of these days. awesome song and video

  • f**king beautiful

  • I dig.

  • im so tired right now. this makes my eye lids so heavy lol im gonna fall asleep to this. its simply amazing

  • THATS wot your jams sound like?!disgustingly good...thanks for helpin me sleep :)

  • Beautiful

  • Agreed, a very nice and relaxing piece of brilliance. Maybe the Dev could share it in FLAC with us? Like how it was done with the Ki bonus material ;) I could make a torrent perhaps :)

  • Man I would love for this in flac or 320 MP3 :D

  • so much feel

  • ¡¡ Bueno !!

    Saludos

  • FANTASTIC!!

  • Really really nice, I dig the clarity of the recording and the ambience. Very peaceful. :)

  • Great stuuf Devin... I like the whole "Ki" feeling that you do... very relaxing and heartwarming.

..yeah ok, that last part sounds kinda wimpy, but its the honest truth! :)

  • So relaxing! I admire Devin's talents.

  • Man, I love fractals, both visual and musical ; )

  • Dev! what is the tuning you are using in this jam?

  • nvm, open C major :D

  • Oh wow, I just realized that 4:49-5:01 is a clip from the Bend It Like Bender video. DEVIN YOU TEASE

  • Aha! I knew i had glimpsed it somewhere before :), it wasnt total deja vu.

  • Cool Stuff as all the ambient acoustic stuff you have posted already... it is nice to have on!

  • Supernatural British Columbia....

  • Nov. 28th is my birthday, so thx 4 the present Dev ;)

  • @MrKorton No shit! Mine too, I was in awe when it got uploaded. Best birthday ever.

  • so great !!! seems to listen Devin !!!! I like the music and the video !!! I tried to do the same but it's so hard !!!!!! thanks to you, Your work push me to try and try again !!!!!!!

  • so soothing :) the clips work really well with the music. you should make ambient music for those really intresting nature programmes

  • Incredibly refreshing music.Cheers from Czech rep.

  • 4: 49 - 5.00 powerfull images.... made me speed up and then cry :(

  • 2:45, another, younger Townsend trying to get in on the action?

  • Really pretty - daughter loved it, too...she is dancing as I type. Will the 4th album be along this sort of line?

  • Beautiful! Cheers!

  • love it dev. thank you

  • Loved it man...Good stuff!

    PS.

    Pinecone camera props FTW! :D

  • you're the fucking man, dev

  • The ambience reminds me of the music from old science documentaries I've watched in grade school (little nostalgia there). But unlike the music in those videos, this stays interesting with your melody. Sounds great, and works as a great soundtrack to the visuals.

  • Great stuff.

  • have you watched any CANADIAN! stargate universe? id love to hear your stuff on there. some of joel goldsmiths stuff is in a similar vain, especially those accending synthy scales. hit me back some time bro.

  • A day, when you go on the other side (and I hope this day is far away), a lot of people will compare your music and inventive skills like others genius like Frank Zappa or Miles Davis. Until this day, I listen ever and ever your music, DEVLAB and THE HUMMER are amazing, and all your songs are different but with your style. Don't loose your inspiration, you make dream a very lot of fans, and me in particular. Indeed !

  • @homenucleonic666 On my Word !

  • How can i get an mp3 of this? this should be on an album Dev!

  • Music like this reminds me of walking alone on a beach somewhere, staring out to sea, no other sounds except the waves.....to actually paint a picture like that takes unbelievable mastery and skill, amazing again Dev.

  • Really cool! Thank you for sharing. :)

  • Soo cool, It's great that u share with us all this kind of things wich are really cool and awesome. I loved the music, and the fractal stuff is great visuals XD...damm that place you live in looks so great with all those trees and stuff...¬¬ i envy u hehehe :P

Keep up with the good work, we love u ;)

  • Thank you Devin! Your music inspires me a lot. You are a true artist. Someone who makes the right music for the right time. I love your ambient music, and of course, all the heavy stuff!

Is there any chance of you come to brazil some day? it would be so cool, you have many fans here!

  • Digging it Dev. I love that you are comfortable just experimenting and happy to air it to the world. 99% of people who are already in any amount of spotlight get so hung up on massively filtering what they display to the world. I know, Im guilty of it and Im not even famous!

Great inspiration to just 'let go'.

  • this is an amazing jam Dev.

  • Excellent, merci Devin pour ce petit voyage musical.

    Axel

  • . . . (speechless) : )

  • Awesome.

    It reminds me of Pele.

  • makes me dream^^

very chilled music when lieing in the bed...

    again some awesome work.....

  • loving it Devy, thanks man

  • I like Christmas - mince pies. Oh yeah. This reminded me of a warming soup.

    Nourishing. Clean tasting, and healthy.

But perhaps there should've been some imagery based on uncut bread and slabs of butter. Just for a bit.

  • Boy am I relaxed now :)

Thanks man, that was really nice. I heard a really brief 'Gato' moment in there. I really love how during this whole DTP period, the music for each album can be as present as the newest addition. Little projects like this keep 'Ki' and 'Addicted' alive in a way that feels like it's still brand new. Well, 'Addicted' is, but you know what I mean :) Good luck with this new recording phase!

  • Thank you, Devin.

  • beautiful

  • my god, how does one tap like that on an acoustic? or is it easier on an electric-acoustic? great stuff right here. relaxing as all getout

  • Reminded me of Cluster One by Pink Floyd, nice one!

  • Nice greenery on your lot man.Sweet noodling!nice sounding guitar too. What kind of guitar is it?Thank you for posting.

  • I dig it, took me to a nice place for 7 minutes.

  • What synths/keyboards did you use on this one?

    It's really good.

  • Cool stuff.

  • Gah, i overdosed on fractals from this video.

  • Hey Devin, do you see a trip to the east coast of Canada in your future?

Been a fan of your work since '98 ish. Just want to say I'm a big fan, inspires me to continue working on my own stuff. Thanks for the uploads. Cheers!

  • was in a shit mood.. but now I'm feeling lighter.. thanks man.. work wont be half as bad now.. see you in New Orleans in Jan I hope.

  • MP3?

  • Kool as hell Dev!!! BTW u ever bump into Bigfoot/Sasquatch up there??? lol

  • This is cool Dev, I hope you dig the whole noodling around on a guitar and uploading it to Youtube thing, I could see where some folks might be apprehensive about stuff like that, but you know, it's just fun to do, a nice constructive way to pass the time. I'm hearing some David Gilmour in your softer guitar meanderings haha. Take care, dude.

  • oh devin. you make me smile with my heart

  • 1:03 i almost pissed myself!

  • downloadable mp3, please :-)

  • Love the tag "Kinda wanky...."

  • So Devy lives in the mountains?

It was very nice to listen to this play.

But the part at 3:09 sound familiar. ;]

  • You continue to amaze and impress us Dev,. 'tis beautiful indeed. Nice to know you take time out too, you certainly deserve it this year! love and peace...

  • Absolutely beautiful Devin..

Thank you so much for sharing your session :D

  • what string guages do you use for open C on an acoustic? im having trouble finding a good set.

  • ever consider doing the score for a film? I could see a grizzly man-type documentary being enhanced with this kinda vibe

  • a lot of dev's music makes me think of mountaineering

  • sooo relaxing, its like a beach vacation in space

  • I'd be willing to pre-order an album with music like this.

  • Hmmmmm chill

  • I love Devin's acoustic work. On Addicted there's a song (can't remember which just now) with a part that has just Dev and clean piano and they go together beautifully.

Would love to hear some more of that.

  • That'll be 'Ih-Ah!'

  • What a great way to start the morning. Beautiful music.

  • pine cones are awesome

  • Beautiful,just beautiful :-)

I wish my Saturday evenings were like that :-D

  • Nice Devin, thanks! Cool surprise to turn the web on an a Sunday morning and find a new vid from you. This has actually put me into a great frame of mind to do the science reading/revision I have planned for all af today! Fractals.....! o.O

Just after new year I am heading to the beautiful forests of Snowdonia National Park for 36 hours to just hang out and take close-up photos of leaves and shit and this is also putting me even more in the mood for that... I get wankier by the day! :P

    Namaste!

  • You should upload more stuff like this. Just going at it.

Accompanied by images of fractals, of course.

  • thanks for this, I was wondering what those animations are called, so it's "fractal"

  • Just what I needed on a Sunday - relaxing, beautiful music :)

  • Well, I liked it.

  • Hehehe "Kinda Wanky". Amusing tags as ever.

  • Perfect for sunday mornings..

Thanks for sharing, i am ready to go back to bed ;-))

  • Reminds me of when I listened to Infinity whilst watching nature documentaries with Dr Hoffman's.

  • wow! beautiful!!

  • As i sit here with cars and sheeples rushing around outside it's relaxing to step inside Mr Ds world. Looks like you live in a nice place. Thanks a lot for this.

  • Devin, this is awesome! Which modes/scales do you usually use for this stuff?

  • *sips green tea*

  • Awesome! Love the parts where it gets A little hevy...then right back to basics. Tasty licks to finish my night off right! Thanks Dev.

  • Sounds lovely, what reverbs do you use for the big ambient wash?

  • thanks for sharing dev this is awesome

  • wow, that is so awesome, I just love it

  • I like this jam, thanks for sharing!

  • You know...I grew up with Devin on my CD player / Ipod and we're about the same age. Followed him since Steve Vai. I remember being slack jawed at his vocal ability on James Murphy's work. Before the internet I was so glad I found this guy who was producing music so close to the music in my head as a musician. Now here he is...This massive influence of mine saying, "Here's something new...check it out for free." Wow. I'm so glad I thought for myself all these years. Thanks Devin for the music.

  • Has kind of a Terria thing going for it!

  • Dev, you should release a record of ambient guitar stuff like this.

The ultimate chill out music. Something to fall asleep to (in a good way) like 'The Hummer'.

  • Devlab is similar... the record is designed to be used while sleeping if you wanted.

  • yeah, especially if you find threats of being melted to soothe you...

  • Check out Ki

  • Trippy, beautiful stuff Dev.

  • You are a strange man; but I forgive you.

  • sweet, some pretty trippy shit goin on, i dig it, acorn, nice.

  • Wooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaa man... far out

  • Best thing to watch right before I go to sleep, thank you for this Dev, I am excited to see you in Toronto in the near future. Peace.

P.S. I dig the picnic table. Best place to play guitar right? :)

  • Hey Devin,

I finally purchased Addicted today at Scrape Records, the wavs sound so much better than mp3s ha. Thanks for sharing your amazing music!
