I've heard different, maybe im wrong but I recall a show on speed channel, they were saying the suspension is set for circle track, leads me to believe it when the ass end jumps up instead of down when u lay into it...also Texas police used to use javelins as street patrol cars.
Yea, they are something else! They were produced as a circle track car(I'm 99% sure on this) so the ass end jumps up when u stomp it instead of squatting down...fucking looks soo aggressive! Thanx for viewing!
@brandonbee2 the AMX/Javelins were actually road racing cars, mainly meant for the Trans-Am series, although if your lucky enough to own one the original 50 AMX drag cars of 68 they were setup entirely for drag racing and could wheel stand in stock trim.
old man had one 74 401 4 spd sold it about 4 years ago, third day the guy had it dropped the clutch on accident went sideways wrapped it around a pole. Was hard to see the girl go.
@uhfnutbar1 there not all the same. the deck height is more on the 390,401 AMC called them there big blocks n they had more meat on them not the thin wall design like the 360 on down. you could put four bolt main on the bigger motors. i know i have a 390 n a 401. you need longer push rods for the 390 n 401s
This has been flagged as spam show
1. American motors never manufactured a big block. 2. javelins were SCCA road race cars not circle track ringers, your thinking of the matadors

The term is only relavent to other makes.
AMC had three generations of their V8.
Each generation came in different capacities according to the bore and crank throw, but was based on the same basic design.
So as AMC never had a smaller family of V8's or a bigger one either, the terms are irrelevant.
