1:17 “films you know do deteriorate and disappear”
Well at the fucking rate with your fucking bastard ILM and Skywalker sound fucking the show ever 5 to 10 years there won’t be nothing left that is original before you kick the bucket, you twat director!
Ever fucking heard of perseveration! You stupid wanked out halfwit cunt!
1:14 Look at the cunts face! No fucking emotion what so ever! He’s gone fucking overboard and ruined STAR WARS, oh lets just let him, and not bother seeing STAR WARS again unless its rare off the shelf 6track mag uncompressed 70mm DOLBY STEREO print.
1:08 Did he just say “preserve”? I think this cunt needs to look that word up in dictionary book! This fucking cunt has ruined a classic 70’s and 80’s sci-fi fantasy with his fucking over the top tinkering around with now its not worth seeing or why even bother listening to it! Matthew Wood has fucked it right up!
Missed it Gorge Lucas! Oh, you mean those bastard STAR WARS re-issues of 1997 2004 and 2011 Nooooo! Fuck you, Lucas and your fucking bluray and your fucking 3D STAR WARS cram it up that quadruple fat pineapple ass of yours. We the fans have had fucking enough of you!
I don't understand the hate for restoring the Star Wars saga. I think the special edition film looks great! And obviously it doesn't hurt doing so, to keep up with modern technology, and now HDTV. Enhancing the video and audio only makes the film better IMO.
@JimmyJones nobody is complaining about the the enhacing of the video quality, just of the REAL changes to the films. and the audio ... is not enhacing at all, they pretty much screwed up alot of the sound-track by messing around with it over and over. it is like with a picture with pixel quality.. the more often you save it, the more loss of quality.
@alluvialedaempfer I never did think of it that way. I guess it does make sense that they will not be working off the original material, but the past DVD releases.
@Knightmessenger In all likeliness they used a duplicate print that hadn't detereorated as much for the vhs releases because there hasn't been a completely unaltered release that I know of.
I think all they need to do to modernize it is to recomposite all of the special effects digitally and adjust the brightness and contrast settings to get a flowing picture, use cg to just fix a few things that aren't great and have its presence be more subtle, do a new surround mix, and add one or two scenes to make the movie make more sense (Biggs meeting Luke before the Death Star Attack) and that would probably be enough.
Here's what I still don't get, why didn't LFL use the restored print to make their "one last time" video release? It had to be completely restored first before any changes were made.
@Knightmessenger Your right, he did restored the original trilogy for enhanced picture and sound back in 1995 but did not restore the actuall print that actually released in 1977, 1980, 1983. What we didn't know was he's probably hiding a copy of each of the restored print that contains the theatrical versions of the trilogy from us all the long since during the restoration. Either what I said was was true or not, I still suspect that he's hiding it 'cause he never want true originals on blu ray
George Lucas wouldn't know the meaning of the word "preservation" if it came up and slapped him across the head so hard.

Wow, a "few new surprises". Look at how far that went.

I find your lack of Faith disturbing.
Without these versions Star Wars would
go the way of the 80% of the Films we have
Lost since the beginning of film.
Bravo George for spending the time and Money to save our heritage.

Restoration is cool as long as the original versions are still available too.

If they do what I just said they could use seemless branching to present the entirely unaltered version for the die hard fans.

I miss the Cooper Theater on Colorado Boulevard in Denver where I saw the original Star Wars trilogy. The Cooper Theater was torn down in 1994. :-(
