  • i got the coitus interruptus joke lol

  • I have just brought it...i've added some songs....seems good so far :D xx

  • Ihave problem with my zen 100, i loaded battery about 3,5h and he is still not workin , is new what can i do? :(

  • @TravisPastr download firmware from creative support site and install it when your zen is "charging"

  • im going to buy this!!

  • @DnaBoi123 i hav us brought it :D

  • it wont take any videos, i converted it aswel but still it wouldnt take the video, do you know what video format does it take? please help

  • @hashs003 It is supposed to accept wmv, avi, and (youtube type) mp4 video files. I've never actually used it as a video player just because quality would be really poor; I just used this thing like an iPod Shuffle, essentially. I think you need to depend on the Creative software that came with the device in order to work with the video.

  • @Blissfuldude How do you turn on the speakers on this?

  • @FHughes2008 There are no speakers on this one.

  • @BlissfulDude thanks cause i was spending ages wondering about that, is there a radio on it?

  • @FHughes2008 no

  • I'm thinking about buying it, got two questions :

1-I heard it doesn't display folders as folders but as albums. However, when I use it as a regular plug'n'play device, it should allow me to have a regular folder structure with sub-folders, right? I'd like to use it (like a USB stick) to watch videos on my PS3, and for the PS3 to recognize them, all videos need to be in a folder called "VIDEO" - will that be possible?

2-How's the quality the audio recordings (using the mic)?

    Thanks!

  • @Hirnduebel Yes, you can name folders whatever you would like just like a flash drive stick. When playing the music directly off this device, the folders don't automatically make playlists. Playlists are read from the .pls and/or .m3u files.

Recording quality is good just like on an iPod or iPhone. But this device limits each recording to only 10 minutes, unfortunately. It records as WAV files. But compression is good for those WAV files.

  • @Hirnduebel Since the folders don't make playlists automatically, it will be like playing one huge playlist, like the iPod Shuffle.

I've never used a PS3, so I can't guarantee anything with that. But you can surely have a folder named VIDEO.

That reminds me of my Pinnacle TV Recorder which records television to a flash drive in a folder named VIDEO, they recommend that device for playback on iPod, PS3, etc, anyway if it's anything along the same lines this ZEN should work for PS3 (in theory).

  • @BlissfulDude I got impatient and ordered it anyway - I'm quite happy with it and yes, it does work :)

The big downside, as was stated before, is the lack of a folder structure when using the player alone. I thought it wouldn't bother me as my music collection is well tagged and I am playing albums only - but then I discovered the player ONLY aligns tracks by the "Track No."-Tag, which barely any mp3 has, since that's usually in the file name ... but the sound quality makes up for it. :)

  • What video format does this mp3 player have? I bought it but I can't seem to watch any video's in regular avi. and such formats.

  • @OnlineGameLover For videos, I used the software that came with it. But it is truly horrible video quality and for images too. There are not enough pixels to enjoy watching a tv show or a movie.

I'm guessing you're using uncompressed avi videos. Run your video through movie maker, save it as wmv and it should work. The youtube format of videos also work, that's mp4.

  • i need help making a playlist can anyone gimme some pointers

  • @sinakon I use the playlists formed by the ID3 tags. That's artist and album playlists. I've never bothered making manual playlists on the device or on the computer for this device.

  • what is ur advice about this mp3...

i'll use it for run & stuff,

should i buy a smarphone instead?

  • @vanuatu12 I just use this for music only. It's a basic, fundamental device, that is all. It was the cheapest thing around with a screen.

  • Its cheap, old and ugly.

BUT It is the best sound I have ever heard on a mp3 player.

i'm currently using a pair of 285 dollar headphones with this player,

and i haven't found a more worthy partner for them yet.

  • @Tunadkk I couldn't agree with you more. It's cheaper than an iPod Shuffle and has a screen display. That's what I wanted and that's what I got.

I've been looking around for a good set of noise canceling headphones, cheapest I have found is $70.

  • @BlissfulDude cnet.com made an article about good headphones in different price ranges. I would recommend to check it out :)

As far as i can tell the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC1 is a good buy in that price range, but i dont have any personal experience with them.

  • does it have some sort of lock button? (srry, I dont know if that's the right name . I dont speak english so well...) the mp looks nice , thanks for the video

  • @Rika13desu Why, yes, yes it does. The 2nd button from the left is a shortcut button and you can set it up to do whatever you want, like button locking.

  • hows the sound qualty?

i mostly trhow the original headphones away is trash !

  • @jika12 It's surely not as good as the earbuds that you can purchase from philips or bose, but it is better than the iPod Touch / iPhone earbud headphones. The sound quality is good, mostly dependent on whatever speakers or headphones you use.

You should use the sound controls in the settings to restrict the maximum volume because the device allows your music to get extremely loud and once the dB goes too high, it crackles up, just like as if you gained your music too high in mp3Gain.

  • Longest unboxing I've ever seen ;D

  • @marmadukas Why, thank you.

  • @NudeScooters I think speaker functionality is only available on the Zen 300 for $10 more. I think you get FM radio on that too.

  • @BlissfulDude and bluetooth, i think, according to the site. seriously considering one of these little guys. lost my old 1GB ipod shuffle and need a little mp3 player that i can take to the gym. 4GB goes for $40 in canada which is decent! was about to shell out $45 for a gently used 2GB shuffle on kijiji

  • @matteo88 Yes, it has a remarkably nice long battery life and no software needs to be installed on your Windows OS.

  • they look nice.. i want one. are they sturdy?

  • @Bigsmoke930 Yes, yes it is. Don't expect anything more than the iPod Shuffle because this is one of the low-end mp3 players. It has slipped out of my hand multiple times because there is no grip, but it seems to respond fine to some drops, falls, and damages.
