This is the year 2011, not 1931. There is absolutely nothing about white women that somehow makes them more special than the other women of the world.

@annalizardfell I know it's satire. The manner in which the media puts white women on a pedestal, however, is actively causing discrimination against other women. That is something serious, and I'm long passed the stage where I'm going to stay quiet about such things.

Whenever I see the media portraying white women as somehow better than non-white women or whenever it attempts to portray white men as supposedly being only interested in white women, I speak out against this without exception.

The stereotypical slender nose, angular face, tall and narrow body that all models have which just happens to be more easily found in white women. Just look at the asians and african-americans who make it as models; they have the same features instead of their stereotype. It's worse that being told you're only useful for your face when you're chosen only because of the certain genes of your ethnicity.

@forbiddenfollies Well, here's the strange irony: Most guys don't focus on skincolor nearly as much as you'd think--we're turned on by a slender figure or by voloptuous curves. Asian women are almost universally more slender than white girls and black/latino women typically are more voluptuous.

Yet in many cases, the media would prefer a white woman who either starves herself or who had surgery to copy those features over showing Asian or black/latina women. That discrimination is astonishing.

@GluttonForSex Currently, white people are seen to be to ones "with power" and that appeals to the masses. People want to be seen as powerful so they try to be like them which why there so many white washed people. Not white? Try to be! Still not white enough? Get a white gf/bf! People think that white people are treated better so they try to be like them. It's not just white women on pedestals though, it's white men as well. Just BEING white is enough to be seen as attractive to some people.

My remarks weren't aimed at this video as such, but more to the underlying mentality which makes groups refer to themselves as "white girl problems". It's a mindset that tries to put white women in a seperate category, as if they're somehow more "special" or "interesting". That kind of thinking is a relic from a time that has passed us.

I think the media should reflect society as it is, not as a select few want it to be.
