nobody's gonna get rich digging around yuma, but there's scads of neat places where you can prospect and rockhound out in the beautiful surrounding mountains and desert. then , too, there's cheaper tequila and denstistry in algodones.
love drywashing. i have just purchased a keene 151 after losing one in a truck accident in '08. had some nasty injuries and just now getting up the strength to start again. i live near randsburg CA, mostly club claims. but can't wait to see that flash again! happy diggin'!
I live in Michigan and I was wondering, does someone need to buy a permit to prospect gold, or does it vary from state to state? And if a permit is required, where would I obtain one?
i am closer to yuma, az. the best areas around sedona are near prescott...lots of public land...you should have no problem...thanks for your comments.
@PeaceChannel711 Pretty sure Sedona is not a gold bearing area. I been prospecting in north phoenix, wickenburg and prescott for years and never heard of any gold in Sedona. Sorry for the bad news
Vibratory separation like gravity/ hydrodynamic separation(in a wet sluice)is the most mis-understood principal in mineral recovery techniques. It is absolutely crucial, to maximize recovery, that the particle size be as uniform as possible (the particle mass will vary greatly)when using either method of separation/recovery.
wow i couldn't think of anything cooler then prospecting in a place like arizona. Where abouts are you and did you find much??. Good video too, welldone!

As for public lands and prospecting or panning check out the BLM blm.gov/mt/st/en/info/browse/gold_panning.html
Still open to the people... for at least a while longer.

I would use a metal detector, that way you can find nuggets and meteorites.
