  • back in time without any synth-crap and a-tune shit.

  • Kim West is surperb in this mesmerizing version of "Eleanor Ridby" & inspired musicians rock...this "Unsung" legendary lady is awesome and "Big Brass Four Poster" is an overlooked masterpiece that needs to be released on Compact Disc...Bravo Kim!

  • There were so many talented artistes at Motown, The Marvellettes, Jnr Walker, and of course Kim Weston, wonderful!!

  • Groovy !!..i like it i like it!

  • This orchestra is SICK!!

  • Can someone please tell me who arranged the orchestration? I think it's brilliant. As good as Kim's incredible vocal prowess, and that is no easy feat. I cannot stop listening to it.

  • This surpasses the Beatles' version. Ray Charles' version is worth checking out. But Kim Weston's is in a league of one. Kim Weston, where are you? Wherever you are you have just gained another greatful fan. And the soaring horns, amazing.

  • Eleanor Rigby is my favourite Beatles' tunes. I have just heard this version for the first time. It's my favourite one. It drives, relentlessly, implacably, unwaveringly, mercilessly, while retain the pathos that is the essence of 'Eleanor Rigby'. Who on earth produced this masterpiece?

  • But check out the superb music accompaniment. Talk about "unsung', the musicians here should be celebrated. Kim Weston rocks.

  • My favorite version of this song. Love love love Kim Weston

  • genial !

  • never liked this song much..until I heard this version..they could have used this in a bond movie

  • Kim Weston gets inside "Eleanor Rigby" turning it inside out in a way only she can do with that awesome voice...talk about "Unsung", this amazing singer could sing most right off the stage and is the most incredible voice of the classic Motown Era...gem of a performance is a few years after Motown exit showing she had her stuff together & would be great having this classic on CD...Bravo Kim!

  • Yay! I've been looking for this version for forever! It's rare that a cover comes out just as good, if not better, than the original. I'm a big fan of original song by The Beatles. But, this version is just amazing too. I love it!

  • I have a feeling you're right, TAC :)

  • @TACarhart Please tell me why she collected the rice :)

  • I've heard Aretha, Diana Ross, The Bettles sang Ait as well If i'm not mistaken but Kim had the Essence of this song down pack. You can feel the suspense in her voice for this unlike the other versions. Kim's version of Eleanor Rigby is the best.

  • Kim Weston is the greatest voice from Motown Era & this fiery "Eleanor Rigby" show legendary Diva in incredibly great form & amazing arrangement with stunning vocal make this a true classic...Bravo Kim!!!

  • There is a cool new version of Eleanor Rigby by Voltaire 7. Check it out on Voltaire 7 website or itunes

  • Wow the arranger for this song must have done James Bond movie soundtracks!

  • Look up Anna Black on YouTube and see how it's done. Great cover of a Beatles classic.

  • Great cover! A contender with the Ray Charles cover.

  • Fab rendition of ELEANOR RIGBY . . . awesome album . . . orchestration / arrangement is nothing short of fabulous. Thanks much for your share!!

  • Fab rendition of ELEANOR RIGBY . . . awesome album . . . thanks so much for the share.

  • THIS IS SOULMUSIC,yes this,mmmmmm

  • Engrossing & intoxicating gem from "Big Brass Four Poster" lp, a Kim Weston masterpiece never released on compact disc...Kim Weston recorded great things after Motown & these hard to find gems are all magnificent and worth seeking out...Kim Weston sings from her heart & soul and takes the listener there in a sublime & unforgettable way...Bravo Kim!!!

  • I AM ADDICTED!!! Is it a remix? Who are the musicians? I can't find anything about them on Gracenote or Discogs. I'm looking for sounds like this

  • This is just one powerhouse song! Been listening to it for a couple of years now since first coming across it on a compilation CD, and it still hasn't lost its freshness on me. I'm just surprised at how unknown this song is; that is hasn't been thrown into some movie soundtrack or used in some other way. It's a jem!

  • I don't remember ever hearing of Kim Weston, and I wonder why. Judging from this, she should have been the star whose record was broken by Michael Jackson's Triller.

  • @therealEmpyre Her biggest hits were the #14 "It Takes Two" with Marvin Gaye and the ORIGINAL version of "Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me For a Little While)" which she did on Hullaballoo on a really tall stage...

  • i BELIEVE THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST INTERPOTATIONS OF ANY OF THE BEATLES TUNES

  • so cool - thanks

  • the beginning sounds like its from goldeneye 007

  • That was killer!! Thanks for sharing it!

  • When I was a little girl working with Kim in Detroit, I had know idea of her place in the Motown story. I am still discovering her amazing music, thanks to YouTube!!!!

  • She's very stirring emotionally!

  • I always though Aretha Franklin did a unique cover of Eleanor Rigby but this version by Kim Weston is also terrific, never heard it before. I've got the "Greatest Hits and Rare Classics" CD by Kim Weston but this song isn't on it, unfortunately. Thanks for posting it.

  • overfine. listen to pp arnold's version, too

  • Stomping tune !!! LOVE IT !!! What a fantastic voice she has!!

  • Kim Weston's performing in London next week, albeit part of a very long bill. I doubt if she'll time for more two songs, maybe just the one and we all know what that might be.

  • nice ..................................

  • wicked!

  • i love this song but it has a very scooby doo thheme. have they ever used this bet i think they have

  • Kim Weston is incredible here giving "Eleanor Rigby" a since of urgency not heard before of since...Kim rocks & gets to the core of this classic and the effect is riveting! From "Big Brass Four Poster", a totally awesome masterpiece not yet released on CD...no wonder the recording industry is in such a mess when something this great goes unreleased all these years. Bravo Kim Weston!!!

  • You must reminder If this recored ny Motown Berry Gordy had a sound he wanted and if that sound was not met You did not record. If it was another record company they wnted that sound.

  • Great Interpretation!! Kim can do no wrong! What album is this from? Is it "Four Poster"?

  • Cant believe i have only just come across this soul injected cover. I love it. ktf

  • uuuuuugh soul baby.... I am diggin' this!!!!!!

  • "Singing out of tempo" is called song interpretation. She's not screaming, she's giving the song an urgency that was not there before. And that urgency is supported by the lyric. Her style reminds me of a grittier Shirley Bassey.

    She is FABULOUS!!

  • It's overkill. I don't really care if it's supported by the lyrics or not - it gets on my nerves.

This sounds extremely generic, as well - it could be by just about anyone in the 70s.

  • spasticteapot, you are entitled to your opinion. I do not agree. There is nothing overkill about this performance. And I know overkill when I hear it.

But if it gets on your nerves, then just skip it. There are enough versions of this song to make everybody happy. Ain't America great?

  • She has a nice voice, and the band was screaming good, but I don't think she needed to scream or sing out-of-tempo like she did.

    I'll give it a B.

  • Les poils se dressent.

  • Great Cover song!!! Probablly the best one I have heard yet!!!Wow this is my first time finding out her. But don't you just hate the idea that you don't hear about some people but then you hear alot about people who at times are just overrated?

  • WOW!!! Passionate & mesmerizing Eleanor Rigby by Kim Weston is a killer version...Bravo Kim!!!

  • Kim is a lost lady of soul who should have been a big big star. 5*

  • hmm right

that's what I say maybe one hour ago to a friend

she didn't got what she earned

he didn't promote her like he also did with martha and the vandellas or florence ballard and mary wilson and some others =/

he was only fixed at diana ross and the temptations

  • Amazing cover *****

  • Sing it!!!!

  • im not 100% sure but i think it was sampled by Wu-Tang Clan on track called "Campfire" from their last album "8 Diagrams"

  • Well according to the amazingly reliable source known as Wikipedia, RZA sampled "Gypsy Woman" by Curtis Mayfield.

  • Kim is the greatest voice Motown ever had!

  • @jonbru613 Come now, that's a wet behind the ears outlook. She's among the greatest voices Motown has.

  • @jonbru613 ???? Say what? How do you even single out one of so many iconoclastic singers as the "greatest". dumb

  • @Dankshasta No thats not dumb—it's my opinion. You can have yours and I can have mine!

  • James Bond music!

  • that's what i said

  • Good version-Aretha Frankin's cover is an answer version

  • Thanks for posting this Kim Weston classic...more please!!!

  • Kim Weston is electrifying singing this Beatles classic and brings her own to it in a brilliant way...from the masterpiece "Big Brass Four Poster" which needs to be released on cd! Nobody sings quite like this legendary Motown Diva...Bravo Kim!!!
