As a person who voted for Obama, I think it would have been more appropriate for the President to refer to him as "Senator McCain".

It's no surprise what McCain actually stands for. In 2000, he ran almost the same campaign Obama ran in 2008. That fact is largely ignored among most people.

I watched the whole speech, & it was not a prearranged set up! You can hear the venom in McCains voice every time he says, "Mr. President." He intended for Obama to look bad, it just didn't happen like that. I love the way Obama "calls" on them, like their in school, & he's the teacher! Marine 1 has been around for decades. There isn't a runway at the White House, and you can't expect the POTUS to sit in traffic (or block out traffic for his motorcade) each time he goes somewhere. Marine 1 makes perfect sense.

The upgrade on Marine 1 was planned well before Obama was elected, and McCain would have benefited from this perk had he been elected. And it wasn't a "maybe ive been deprived' black thing", it was a "maybe I've been deprived" because I didn't marry a billionair thing.

Marine One has been standard since the 50s with Eisenhower. It simply does not have the iconic status of Air Force One. The president's helicopter is used for flying him to locations where landing a large plane would be impossible or very challenging.

I didn't take his 'maybe I've been deprived line' as a black thing. After all, most of us have never had a helicopter so he was trying to make a joke of his helicopter evaluation. I think it would have been just as funny coming from a white guy.
