  • where the heck are the voices?

    Did you find the guy?

I ll finish you today for sure

  • SEGA CHANNEL!! Lol.

  • I loved this game

  • I always thought the blonde guy was duke nukem and the black one Weasley Snipes

  • @AirRaidX & @WeskerSega: Plus the only system to handle Arcade versions of games perfectly back in the 80's/90's was the Neo Geo AES. It was in syndication & SNK kept making games for that system until '04, when "Samurai Shodown 5 Special" was the last game for that system.

Like I said before, we now have consoles that are more than powerful enough to run Arcade games perfectly, through compilations & including through XBLA & PSN. :) Even handhelds such as DS & PSP can handle Arcade games, too.

  • felt like such a champ the day me and my brother finally completed this.

  • the music in the first stage sounded like space invaders meets star wars

  • Yeah,cool game !

I played it in my Megadrive when i was 7/8, still an awesome game, easy in two players but impossibile in one player, i tried to play it yesterday, it still works perfect, except for the too much flickering around the sprites ..

  • It worked 100% for me:-D I hope it also works for u;-)

  • Ah, the between-level interludes are epic, especially with the Arcade version's voice clips.

"Did the God of war just die?"

"No doubt about it, the King of gods must be sayin' his prayers!"

  • According to many sources, if you buy the DRESS (lips icon) for $99,999 ZENNY in the very last shop, in the last stage (# 7) and replay the entire game without dying you will be greeted by the shop girl in all of her topless naked goodness.

Normally the shop girl is shown at the end of the game clothed, but if this trick is in fact true, she will be topless. I also heard that it only works in the Japanese version (Lost Worlds) and maybe only in certain versions.

  • "Many sources"?

  • @videogameobsession This article requires Citations.

  • @videogameobsession I always wondered what that item did when I was younger. I could never afford it because I kpt spending my money on crap :p

  • @videogameobsession: That rumor is over twenty years old. Nope. No naked chicks in this game. Japanese or otherwise.

  • @videogameobsession wow i didnt know that, ha XD

  • I remember how this game becomes easy once you have 2 people, because you can keep coming back as long as you don't both die at the same time.

  • my stupid copy doesnt work

  • I know, me too! I got it in a box full of "broken" games, but for the life of me I can't get it working. I fear the games he gave me are all water logged or something :( .

  • When i go to play it goes straight to that depressing "Game Over' Screen

Not even a second of gameplay

  • The problem ur having seems to be related to the 6-button controllers, use the MODE button and it will work;-) I had the same problem, or u can try using th 3-button controllers instead;-)

  • are you absolutely sure? :D

  • @itopete Thanks a ton man, I read mapleholics comment and am having the same problem. I have 2 copies of the game and keep getting that issue, more and more pissed off every time I tried it. haha. I even tried 2 different systems. I switched controllers but they were both 6 buttons not thinking anything of it. So now I know why it wasn't working.

  • one of the coolest games ever made!

  • I had the Master System version got it for Christmas one year and played it for years afterwards one of my fave games, aint played it in years though and hated the arcade version for some reason, just felt hard to control and hard to play and too sore on the eyes.

  • i only played it on zx spectrum, the graphics were terrible compared to this. it was very atmospheric due to scarce dark colors and almost no sound at all. the controls sucked balls, but still i spent hours playing it. never completed it though, mainly because you had to load each level from the tape which took a few minutes each time...

  • This port of FW seems kind of awkward compared to the PC Engine conversion.

  • awesome game

  • i remember the homing laser... very nice game

  • The Shop Music at 0:53 is extremely similar to Serj Tankian's Unthinking Majority (or rather, vice versa)

    watch?v=3iCapTU7Zac at 0:32

  • I was playing this game the other day, and I thought the same thing.

  • One of my favorite games on the Sega, I never understood why that bitch would charge us for weapons if we were trying to save her planet.

  • LMAO MAN I LOVED THIS GAME.. was happy those days...

  • this game is so tits! ^^

  • those dragons look cool

  • Duke nukem lol.

  • pretty good port except for the sound, could've been a lot better.

  • Well the Megadrive was never known for a super good sound department.

  • It was easily the best chipbased system, but this game sounded like crap.

  • AH! me & my brother used to play this game all the time. i remember cus we'd always fight over the blk guy! l0l.

  • so whats the boss of this level supposed to be? a giant sphincter?

  • In my opinion, the Genesis/Megadrive version had superior music over the arcade. Same with Ghouls n Ghosts.

  • he looks like duke nukem

i know this game came before, but i'm just saying lol

  • THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD MY FRIEND! XDXDXDXDXD

A alliance between Mr. T and Duke Nukem lol! XD

  • I really hope you are just showcasing the game off, because no offense, but you are atrocious at this game.

  • i only played arcade once and cant find my cart ill be downloading this for fusion cus i cant be arsed with mame

  • The music sounds really similar to that of Card Fighters on the Neo Geo Pocket. I'm almost sure it's the same tune. Great game btw.

  • I have this and it is far more fun than COD 4.

I only just learnt that I should use the mode button to skip the game over issue. on MD 1 it worked fine. :P clocked it once with a mate of mine on 2 player. makes it much easier to win... :P

  • COD 4 doesn't have Duke Nukem.

  • The Genesis version was incomplete I thought, or I had a released based on a beta cartridge.

In my version there is one hit kills with no continues. No life bar I think.....Or when the life bar is up, no continues. Can't remember which one.

  • in the genesis version, there are no continues. however, you can continue by pushing start on player 2's controller before player 1 dies.

  • Good thing I own the arcade version of the game on the Capcom Classics Collection for the PS2, as having only one illegitimate continue is more than enough to scare away the casual gamers in today's gaming world.

  • I hate to be a jerk, but do you know of anywhere to get an ROM for this game in English?

  • Don't get anything but the arcade version (emulator is MAME in case you didn't know)

everything else is inferior. sites are all over the place, you just have to look harder.

  • This game rules.

I played it last time when I was like 5 (that's 13 years ago) and I still remember the shop music.

  • I still dont understand to this day why they had to make your sprite and hit detection so freaking big. but a great game other wise.

  • i had one of the uk highscore records for this game in computer and video games magazine!if anyones got the magazines theyll see all my highscore records!

  • i remember the trouble i had in order to play it when i first got it on the genesis back in 1998. it turned out that since i was using a 6 button pad, it just skipped to the game over scene. in the end i solved the problem by just using a 3 button pad (i didn't know about the mode button issue until i looked it up on the internet

  • Other than the slight downgrade in graphics this seems to be a very faithful port!

  • NOT.

the downgrade in graphics is HUGE. I guess you've never played the CPS Arcade version, or you haven't played it much.

level 6 and level 8 from the arcade are completely missing in the Genesis version.

combined with the downgraded graphics, it is NOT a faithful port.

  • There was no home console then where you could do a better port than this. It was pretty neat back in the day.

  • @AirRaidX & @WeskerSega: Console versions of Arcade games like this was only relevant back then because the home gaming consoles back in the 80's & 90's weren't powerful enough to handle arcade versions of games perfectly, while having to downgrade graphics, eliminate stages, &/or add loading times to games.

But, ever since the PS2/GC/XBox era, they are more than powerful enough to handle Arcade versions of games perfectly without loading times, etc. The Arcade compilations proves that.

  • now this a bad ass game.!

  • Well I'll try again. And beat it as properly as I can. lol.

  • Well I was playing the arcade rom, so I just went through it shooting straight! You should have seen it.

  • Oh my god. THis whole time I shot in one direction! I feel like an idiot.

  • Ho....ly....fucking....shit. I forgot I played this game. That last boss was a real bitch. Ah man, listen to the music. Haha, fucking fond memories.

  • i just got this on the capcom classics for xbox, i forgot how kick ass this game was!!!

  • I used to play this with my dad, fond memories. It was a kick ass game.

  • this game was the shit.
