Im a 33yr old female, grew up in Yonkers, NY and remember being 11-12yrs old recording Mr Magic & Red Alert on 98.7.. There is this 1 song i cant find & its driving me crazy the lyrics were " i got a good thing going money i be throwing" and a chick singing the hook * ooh la la la* lol. I keep getting Super lover Cee Cassanova Rudd, but its not them.. HELP!!!!!!!!!
This is when hip hop was saw raw.Unpredictable, you would just wait for the mix to come on and Mr. Magic was such a good host and just kept the show so smooth. There is no such thing today and the beats are not funky today.Just listen to My Adidas, that's hip hop.Ha Hoowah!

nothing against the new school stuff going on now in 2010, but compared to the stuff i grew up listening to back in the 80s, there is really no comparison. yes, hip hop must continue to evolve in order to survive and remain relevant music thru the different generations listening to it, but to me hip hop back in the days was the best ever, because it was all about the love of it, not about profit$
@theCORNerSTORE203 Yes those verses that Run kicked would be used in Mary Mary and How You Do It Dee from Tougher Than Leather made in '87 and released in '88.......
To those with ears for the real hip-hop of back then i want to wonder who do you think would win a rap battle between any of the oldschool hip-hop artists our today's rappers? hit me up and let me know who you think would win between the originals or the newbies. this was a Dj retro message to all lovas and suckas of hip-hop.
The first is so good , I can't find it on Youtube, when you don't find a song on Youtube, it's because the song is so EPIC, is like illegal mix tape :)
This is the old school shit for real..not old school from 1994..or last year...I dug this so hard back in 86' & 87' and still do..i was a white kid who listened to all the pirate dj tapes i could, Kiss Rocks The Spot (Kiss 104 atlanta, V103 atlanta fresh party) NY mixtapes got played on 104..
i was a white kid growing up in 80's england listening and buying my vinyl from listening to the pirates. wish i lived in new york at the time of this hip hop explosion!!!
we need shit like this on radio fuck new generation hip hop b4 it use to be expresif and lyrical now its all about money , bitches and commercial . dont worry hip hop fans ill try to do my best to give it back ill jut need some time and some help would be nice
hey nice man! i dont like any of the music on the radio today, my uncle gave me a load of his old hip hop albums, ive got something like 2-3 hours of streetsound :) wish i was born earlier
