  • I wonder if mike starr and mike Inez liked eachother?

  • I am a singer for a metal band and have been struggling with opiates and narcotics for ten years. I'm off Heroin but still take Methedone and Zanax. Watching this video makes the pain even realer. These guys are my heroes and theyre dead due to chemicals imagin what it can do to a simpe man. Much love! RIP Layne, Mike and sooo many others....

  • @forcefeddeath Lots a luck - keep yourself clean bro.

Hope you gonna go far with your band

  • still cant believe hes gone...i keep seeing on celeb rehab when tom sizemore said "dont do it mike" during graduation...some people just cannot stop...thats why addiction is a DISEASE...im a victim, if you know someone your a victim...its out there...and another great man is a victim from it...rip mikey...and remember layne would forgive you

  • lane said he was dead, that coke head lame could not tell his face from his ass and he tells this shit hole he was dead for 11 mn.thank you dr lane dumbshit crack kills good....ha ha hope his mother reads this. she looks like a crack whore herself

  • lame hack no talent glad hes dead before he killed someone with his addiction,,poor baby bye dead guy bye bye :)

  • Rock in peace Mike, we love you

  • mike i was a harion addict for 9 years been clean for 3 i wish u could be hear i know how dark it can get man...rip

  • mike i miss u' sorry man now u never have to worry about addiction it's a bitch i know been there 9 years clean 3 buy god

  • ei wat song is that in Alice in Chains, wat song is that?

  • @dimaatik Confusion

  • Dr. Drew--just another Hollywood corn hogger.

  • @eyeswideopen1993 So right... Dr. Drew truly disgusts me.

  • honestly dont u people find it strange that Layne died at 34 and Mike died at 44 they both were found dead in thier homes,it just seems too similiar.

  • Just... wow. I can't believe he passed. I thought he was better. This really saddens me and makes me realize how fragile our lives really are... RIP Mike

  • Does anyone know why alice in chains

    Kicked mike Starr out?

  • I no idea that this man passed away.I just saw him on an episode last night when I was told that he had died today. I feel bad about that because I could see on the episodes that he fought to live. He struck me as a good guy too.I did'nt know of him until celeb rehab last night.Bless his soul.

  • I think the regret and pain was just to much for Mike. He was to deep into his addiction and the memory of Layne just haunted him until his last moments. He was a good guy and a great musician. He isn't suffering anymore and hopefully he is with his best friend right now.

  • And mike seemed like a really good guy. Was not shooting up till they kicked him out and I never heard why, I thought Mike Starr was better then the other mike. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing that is what make Mike turn to drugs worse!

  • That's really a shame that so many people looked to he and all the fame and money and for two weeks no one knew he was gone. And Jerry called himself a best friend to him. Had not seem or heard from him in more then two years. I guess I don't understand why some one close to him did not do something, someone who knew his problem. You would think his dealer would have. Just to keep the money Rollin in ( not his mom) cause I'm sure he avoided her in shame.

  • The only good thing I can come up with is mike, layne, & Demri are together again. My heart goes out to Nancy, mikes mom, Demri family.

  • Unfortunately, this is what heroin does. It kills you.

  • He died off of benzos and h.

  • He really laid it out there on vh1, what a tragedy.

  • What drug killed Mike and why did A.I.C kick him out of the band

  • poor guy! You can see pain and suffering that he's been going through, pouring out of him. I wish they were all here today. And really they are! In our thoughts. Its a shame that talent of Mike, Lyne, Kurt and the hundreds of others we lost to pure evil. It's truly a deal with the devil, he gives and then takes it all back. Hollowing your soul out til there is nothing left. If you know someone who is on that road. Get them help. Lyne was my idle when I first saw him. He seemed larger then life,

  • another fuckin tragedy!!! im more of an 80's hair band guy but alice started out as a hair band and watching celeb rehab... he looked like he was on the right path.... even came back the next season with 6 months under his belt...damn shame

  • One of the greatest.... RIP brother... your music will go on forever

  • I really wish I would have realised that it was Mike who died. I watched Celebrity Rehab when he was on and now I'm sad to know it was him who passed. I really looked up to him and thought he was amazing and could get better because he was positive. RIP Mike. I wish things could have been different.

  • @EmmyGurl523 That was what happened to me,too.. I knew him, but I knew how he looked back in the 90's.. I heard that someone from that show died, I saw a picture, but at first I didn't realise it was him... Damn, he was the best.. he didn't deserve what he gave to himself.. RIP :(

  • @ba773r1na I was born in '95 so I didn't have much knowledge of who he was, haha. I've just now started listening to Alice in Chains more, but I only knew how he looked during celebrity rehab. It's hard to pick him out in some pictures from the 90's because he gained weight and looked very tired. Your right, he didn't deserve all of this..It's crazy looking at some of the rockstars who made it out alive and how bad they look because of drugs, nothing is worth frying your brain over. :( <3

  • @EmmyGurl523 Well, I'm younger than you, I was born in '96 :P I was a huge fan of Nirvana till I was 12, but then I listened to Alice In Chains and stuck there.. The first member I notice in a band is always the bassist. I'm crazy about it and I play, too. Mike is my favorite bassist, in fact I play because of him.It is crazy how drugs change a person. In '90,except looking gorgeous he was also more lively and his face and his eyes were brighter. He's like a zombie here, it's so sad....

  • Layne would never blame you Mike!

  • Fuck Layne Staley this is his fault, he was fallling and drug another guy down with him.

  • And yet he still dies. Too bad.

Layne's mom spoke meaningfully and from the heart. Smart woman and stirring words.

The choice of "Confusion" to back the clip is brilliant. Great and appropriate song.

  • "Not like this........." -words that haunted Mike. For me it is words spoken to my mom by my dad's killer -"You better go out and check your husband because he is gurgling". My dad was laying there dying and gurgling blood. AIC has helped me deal with the pain and has nearly become my drug. The more I listen, the more I like them. Today I learned that I could look up any song I want on youtube and "It aint like that anymore" was the first I looked up. It seems all of their songs relate.

  • We all have expiration dates. No one will live a second longer or die sooner than what God says. Drugs are NOT a way to escape your life & troubles. There are no short cuts. Don't waste your life... live it!

  • @Pamelina11 hey....od is easy way out. teeheee..you can take your own life you know teehehehheee.....

  • @sylicone221 You can try, but if you're not supposed to go, then you won't be successful. You may just end up a veggie!

  • @Pamelina11 ok if you end up a veggie, your family has to give permission to pull the plug...hehehehee! like brigette andersen.....she was that little girl in savannah smiles...talk about has been! i think mike od'd on purpose hehehehee

  • His guilt is what really killed him.... it kept him from a healthy recovery :/

  • @yohl3gen As i said ealier this is so true. Hopefully they both found happyness on the other side.

  • God Bless. Layne , we miss you

  • this is so sad,i didnt even know he died as i was watching celeb rehab 3 and i thought he did really well, fucking shame.mike carried sooooo much guilt n maybe he couldnt cope with that as well as alot of things. he was a good guy.RIP mike.

  • Great video

  • Whoever put this video together did an outstanding job. The music is excellent and helps you feel the pain not only of addiction but Mike Starrs' pain and guilt he felt over Layne. You could tell by his voice and eyes he lost his fight. I feel it is due to him knowing his friend might die but words were said and he left mad and did more pills because his friend just hurt him and he passed out. I can't stop watching this was put together so well, it is so real and so is Mike. RIP AIC

  • rockstar, girls - booze, big parties and all of that - that come along with that lifestyle. But that can easily go from recreation to addiction (very thin line in that respect) so coming from a middle-class suburban lifestyle and having an opiate/(and other chemical class) addiction and in recovery (now right @ the year point) I pray and hope that all that are suffering get help, and can actually legitamize their sobriety and keep it going, and for those that it was too late for - may you R.I.P

  • banks, and with a swipe of a ATM card/bank card, or withdraw at a drive-thru - you have enough to get you "well" through several days, or through the week, week in, week out, month in, year out (etc, etc). Rich drug addicts, or those within the limelight (reguardless what field of entertainment) their in, have it just that much harder (they have more help, access to more things) but thats both good and bad, we see it time and time again - I feel for them (sure I dont feel bad for the awesome

  • family) IE robberies, auto theft, etc (and as most recovering addicts know) you can be sober, but still a drug addict (more then likely will always remain one) as its just as much mental as physical. Changing a lifestyle is one thing, changing ones mentality/thinking patterns (impulses, flashbacks, entire idealogy) is something else entirely. I personally couldnt imagine being (even somewhat) succesfull - having (hundreds of thousands) let alone a million or more, broken up in accounts in

  • Point being, I could only imagine how MUCH harder sobriety (getting clean 1) 2-having long stretches of sobriety (or remaining sober) is for musicians, entertainers (who have the financial means) my saying is (and I'm sure others have thought or said this) your habit is only as big as your bank account (that includes shit you pawn, steal, panhandle, lie, do whatever) some of us have morals and wont go past a certain point others I grew up with would do the most extreme (to strangers let alone

  • and just awhole change of lifestyle (and friends) cause my brothers older friends as well as the people whom I grew up with (were all in the same boat) as the county I live in has a huge opiate (both prescription oxy ms) and raw heroin problem (typical shit coming out of the city into the county line, and being sold for profit) cause (eyes roll) everyone knows those county white kids have money, to spend - and time to kill (boredom) have everything in the world, but want to fuck it up basically.

  • every action I have done and every chemical I have put in my body. Point being without getting too into the back-story (cause I know people could careless) not to put my sob story out there - I just know (1) as a fan of this band (and respect for the members, both present living and deceased) and also coming from years of abuse, and (on/off recovery) relapse, re-intake, restart (like a hampster on a hampster wheel) sometimes something does "click" for me 3x suboxone strips a day and excersize

  • neighborhoods basically was us for quite along time. Coke/dope (speedball injection) pills, pot, etc (but once the speedball/dope became a priority) for many years now its been a rollercoaster, rehab - trust issues, financial issues, loosing friends (all the same for many other recovering addicts I'm sure) my brother as well (just longer use) I cant blame him for introducing me to the needle, or speedball, after years of snorting (but it is the sad truth) he did - but I take responsibility for

  • This is just so sad, I've been a longtime AIC fan - I was born in 1980, just turned 31 a few months ago - an have an older brother (born in 1970) bout to turn 41 in sept ' an we both are in recovery, after (for him what has been an addition going on 20-21 years, myself for the past decade (heavy use the past 6-7 years) mainly raw heroin (being were only 45 mins from Baltimore City, living in the county line in Maryland) if you've ever seen the show "The Wire" the white junkies scoring in the bad

  • @sylicone221 We're ALL worm food. The only difference between you and him is that the worms are eating now. When will they be dining on YOUR carcass? Mmm? A year? Five? Twenty? You act like your immune. Your days a'commin...

  • @smacman68 5 months hehehehehehe...not much longer heheheheheh!

  • Uh...what's with all the "hehehe?" Is that a laugh of some sort?

  • @sylicone221 THATS JUST PLAIN RUDE YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED

  • this is sad. 1/2 of alice in chains is dead now...i loved those guys.

  • worm food

  • rip mike starr!!

  • very sad yet funny...Mike Starr died twice xD

unfortunnently the second time was finnal

  • @joaoa13portugal thats not too funny...

  • WOW i didnt recognize him

    that's mike starr???

he just seemed so fu***d up...what drugs do...R.I.P. buddy, you and Layne

  • what do u do if your not happy without being under the influence of opiates. i feel this way :( what the fuck are u supposed to do??? not do drugs and be unhappy cause drugs are bad or just do what you want to do and let your life go down the drain as a heroin addict

  • poor guy thought he was doing fine im in shock oh well he's with his friend now

  • Sorry Mike. I saw you on that season of CR and thought you'd make it. Only knew you passed at the start of tonight's premiere. I really hope you are in a better place .RIP Mike.... I hope others can recover from the tragic circumstances that took you down...

  • Dr Drew is a ass hat!

  • Mike , If u saw Layne , Pleas tell him that he have a great fan on this earth !

  • If he was using Xanax and Opana, he probably died from that. I was put in the hospital from taking Xanax FOUR days before I took Opana and it fucking killed me but I was saved by God I think. Horrible. Opana is the most powerful painkiller out there pretty much. and I'm so fucking sick of people mispronouncing OPANA as (opeena) or stupid shit like that... dumb people. Opana is the best though. At least he died from something that makes you feel AMAZING! Xanax is a waste though... fuck

  • @reevesrandall never heard of opana....what about ms contin, isnt that like heroin? if you chop the pills heheehe! so he died like heath ledger? lol...worm food now! heheheheehehe

  • @reevesrandall im addicted to suboxone an upper an klotapin a downer im sure my heat is irregular

  • I remeber watching this season of celeb rehab for the first time, and i was using then, and now im a recovered addict, i still cant beleive Mike Starr died... man i know the same severe struggle it is 2 get off that crap... mike tried and tried so hard but its consumed his life for so long, which made it harder for him to stay clean. dr. drew said mike was in the worst case outta all the other celebs and i remeber just hopeing he'd never go back 2 using H.

  • @PaulyxPlAyer god bless mike and layne and all the rest. for all the pain those too went especially mike. i never listened to Alice in Chains but i respect their band

  • @PaulyxPlAyer did he die from heroin? hehehee...thought it was methadone....

  • I think about Mike Starr so much more often than I'd like to admit. He tried, he really tried. Every time I hear 'Speak' by Gary Go, I think of him. RIP Mike. I do hope you are at peace now.

  • @Reluctantwriter7 worm food hehehee....

  • @sylicone221 you are a sorry excuse for a person. Something tells me you know that already though. Get the help you need.

  • @Reluctantwriter7 Great song, I've just added it to my Addiction Recovery Music Playlist.

  • I didn't even listen to AIC much any more... but fuck if this video doesn't move you something is fucking wrong with you.

  • holy shit. this amde me kry. the exact same thing happened w me and my friend January 31st 2011. i wish i kalled 911 and i had to talk to his mother and everything. life sucks

  • And it still made me cry.

  • what song is on 1:14?

  • I still mourn for Layne & think of him everyday. Now Mike. This sucks! I may be wrong but I can't help but think, where the hell was Jerry while his band-mates were fuckin dying. I wish I could have been there for Layne and Mike. As far as I'm concerned Chains died with Layne. But Chains will always rule.

  • @kdwestbrooks worm food

  • MIKE YOU WILL BE MISSED

  • Mike died from mixing methadone with anxiety medication.

Stayley's was Speedball, smack and coke.

  • @doacarnage mike died like heath ledger, opiates and benzos? you cant mix those...

  • R.I.P. Mike. Damn....

  • Shit Layne and Mike had so much talent...but they also let the old heroin take ahold of them until it was just too late. However,no rehab was gonna help them, they had to take the choice themselves and never did, rehab just doesn't look like it was helping Mike any at least, and it didn't cos now he's dead. Peace brother.

  • @motoredskull enjoy worms! heheheheeee......

  • @sylicone221 And that's funny to you?Motherfucker don't ever let me find you in the street I'll cut your throat open and throw on the street like the piece of shit you are,SUERTE Y MUERTE GONORREA!!

  • first layne shot him up then kurt, lol fuckin awesomem i wish i was there

  • R.I.P Mike, you will be missed man. say hello to layne, Kurt, Andrew, Kristen, Mia and say hello to heaven :(

  • I knew both these guys and being that I was an addict for over 20 years and no a recovering addict..alive and well, making music and art....I feel really sad when I see this. But when walking into a drug life, an every day drug life, youve got to realize what youre dealing with. If you race cars theres always a chance of a car wreck.

  • another victim of drug abuse.... damn shame

  • RIP MIKE STARR. you will me missed....

  • R.I.P. Mike

  • To all those we've lost to drugs! You are unconditionally loved and never forgotten, wether in our memories or in our dreams. From your loved ones and fans we love and miss you!!!

  • I've lost my two best friends in the last year to drugs and I'm sick of it. It's a sad sight to watch when there is so much more to the person then the drug, but the drug consumes them over time and the only thing left is a shell. A shell so resilient that even if broken it will rebuild and possibly consume them again years later. Stories like this should be learned from stay away from hard drugs they ruin you every time and kill you most the time

  • @sylicone221....your diaper needs changing.....

  • @crackernumber2. By the way, im a 27yr old female, (don't go there with the 'you must be ugly' shit, cos I'm NOT.) so mind your fucking language.

  • @KrazeeK9z. First of all I love your name, second....dude, your comment nailed it.

  • @crackernumber2....er...i thought the whole point of these things WAS NOT to shut the fuck up, cos then they would be defunct. Geez dude, take a Valium or call your manna for a chat, but chill the fuck out..

  • wow and seeing mike talk about layne...wow

  • @TheJesusFiles yeah, death of others does not stop your body from wanting and wanting. i am here, too. i know it is so mind-blowing. i love AIC and Mike so much... it happens. Wow... I know...Layne wasting..Mike's contact with him... Mike's drug use...how...I know...God help us.

  • @philipcoker1 <<< GOD will not help you hypocirte...God doesn't like ass-holes like YOU!

  • @philipcoker1 <<< GOD won't help assholes like YOU...God doesn't like assholes like YOU!

  • dang this is sad, especially seeing mike hugging nancy, laynes mom

  • wow. May i just say if any of the assholes who posted negatively on here..He was a person just like anyone..HIS family gets on here and reads this bullshit..adding insult to injury..if you don't like or respect someone who contributed their talent for someones enjoyment..then don't fucking respond at all.. He could have cared less what you thought of him. BUT since u didn't even know him..KEEP IT TO YOUR LOSER SELVES> RIP Layne and Mikey..you family and friends and fans miss you ...tear tear

  • 2 bad for mike........... he just could not stop. Even if was sober the damage was done. oh well just another junkie asshole who didnt make it

  • Alice In Chains Ruulez. LEGALIZE WEED CRACK & HEROIN

  • This sucks so bad.....I freaken can stand it. I thought he was going to get better...well too late now...he is dead

  • Well now I want some food, He is dumb.

  • So sad.

  • Sad!

  • Man I am so saddened. I had no idea until today he died. One of my favorite bands ever!! RIP Mike :(. H e was such an amazing person!

  • damn...

how many more must die? ;-(

    HOW ?!

  • R.I.P. Mike. You and Layne were a huge inspiration to my life. You guys (Alice in Chains) are and forever will be my favorite band of all time. I hope and pray that both of you are in a better place. I remember getting the tape of Facelift in 93 and was totally blown away by your music. I am so sad about all of this and my heart goes out to the entire Starr family.

  • @Cme2344 worm food hehehee

  • It's pretty damn sad to have the world at your beckon call but still die alone because you allow drugs to drive a wedge between you and society. And not to mention you write better songs than the entire industry that is currently considered to be at the top of it's game. Just take a second to think about that.

  • bye mike, my fav bassist by far. you and layne hold some of the saddest deaths i know. i hope the pains gone

  • Comment removed

  • YUP...THEY ARE REUNITED, MIKE AND LAYNE. AND NOW MIKE IS AT PEACE.

HE NEVER FOUND PEACE AFTER LAYNE DIED. HE GAVE UP ON LIFE.

    SO SAD..........RIP LEAH

  • mike and layne are re-united now, its the best way to think about it

  • People need to have respect for mike and other addicts...most addicts are good people, they just got caught up in terrible things...the most important thing is that he tried to get clean...it take ALOT for a drug addict to get clean...he was a good man, so wasnt layne...have some class and have some respect!

RIP MIKE STARR AND ALL OTHERS WHO HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES TO THE DISEASE OF ADDICTION!!!!!

  • @stubhytime he was a douche on celebrity rehab heehheheheee...worm food! heheheee

  • @2053tee.....wow! You're so profound. Thank God for talented, gifted compassionate people like you in the world, or we'd ALL be on drugs out of sheer despair that wordsmiths such as yourself don't exist.

  • @PhuckHue2. What a sad, scared pathetic coward you must be. Probably a friendless, inadequate talentless speck of insignificance whose only outlet in life is to spew your hate and pointlessness on sites like this. I don't usually comment on you tube but you're lucky your just a badly spelled cyber sicko and not in a room with me right now.

  • @hoppyjoe8 you seem to be irritable. haven't had your fix of heroin yet? go rob your family so you can score your next fix. SIZZLE! LOSER! BYE!

  • @PhuckHue2 wow, what an original thought. have never been into drugs but they seem like a good alternative to having to deal with saddos like you. why dont you do yourself and everyone else who appreciated mike starrs talent a favour and get some help, you clearly need it. failing that just shut the fuck up.

  • @hoppyjoe8 enjoy worms! heehehee.....
