I think the part around 4.24 is a bit confusing.You'd better concentrate on the fact that flux stays constant when A increases because E will decrease too.Only if you increase both the area and the charge the flux may increase

@kpow2009 bigger area means more space for more of the field lines to go through tht surface i believe ... cause remember the field lines exist everywhere ... there are infinitely many
