personally, Tarantino is my favourite film director, for many reasons, but the most important reason being that he does films that most directors are too scared to do. any man that has that many widely known films deserves respect and can clearly be dubbed a genius, from indiana jones, E.T, saving private ryan, Munich, Jurassic park and loads of other films, given that they may not be great films but they are still classics in modern cinema, jurassic park may not have been the most meaningful film but it pushed the limits in terms of CGI technology way before its time.
There is a fundamental difference between guys that engineer cinema for the masses (spielberg) and guys that make films in an art form (e.g. kubrick). no he isn't "kill bill" was an appauling bad rip off of 1000s of asian films, "pulp fiction" was only good because of the calibre of the actors. "resevoir dogs" was good. Saw movies are rubbish, death proof sucked, hostel sucked. Michel Gondry is a true director

this is true,BUT influence and copying are different things, the point of any art is to make something new and interesting (amongst other things obv). so your saying that all Tarantino is doing is paying homage to old kung foo and B movies LOL ok so he's been doing that for hmmm 12, 13 films now, thats alot of "homage' right there

Spielberg makes great films along with Scorsesse ,Tarrantino doesn't, end of story.obviously i know enough to see that millions of people go and see Spielbergs films and he's the most well known director in the world.personaly i'm not a fan but you can't deny his genius,spielberg only came into conversation when someone compared him to Tarrantino,personally i watch more foreign cinema than i do american mainstream,Tarrantino isn't Cult he's old hat,hence the failure of deathproof

Although Pulp Fiction was a cult classic in terms of directing, I think I prefer Quentin as an actor rather than a director...

tarantino is a great director and clearly states in interviews and comentaries on dvds that he is heavily influenced by asian film culture. his films are some of the best out there!

no he isn't "kill bill" was an appauling bad rip off of 1000s of asian films, "pulp fiction" was only good because of the calibre of the actors. "resevoir dogs" was good. Saw movies are rubbish, death proof sucked, hostel sucked. Michel Gondry is a true director

kill bill was an homage to 1000's of different genres. pulp fiction was good because of its non-linear, interwoven storylines and inventive dialogue. you dont win the palme d'or by makin a shit movie. reservoir dogs was one of the best directorial debutes ever and death proof is a reminder of something we havent seen in the cinema for a long time. as for saw and hostel, he didnt make them. if ur gonna talk shit about him, at least know what you're talkin about.
