But why would you choose a chines name like that. It's like someone would give his Kid the name Napoleon Bonaparte. Who would do that? @ Sungl0: google "Zhuge Liang".
And just that you know, this guy has a bad american accent in his chinese.
And some Chinese comments are absolutely right, he can't have the name Zhuge Liang and not speak sichuan dialect, stupid. haha
I loved to watch this movie as I used to stay in Chengdu as a laowai long time ago - coming back to the city again and again. Here´s my video "Laowai" with a lot of pictures from a CDTV production in 1990 in Chengdu
English is in many ways more complicated than Chinese. That said, you cannot just blindly compare languages like that. It just doesn't make any sense. You should think again about why everyone learns English.
We can't just say which language is more difficult when comparing Chinese and English. Both languages has its own complexity and varies in different ways. Like English, it's more difficult when it comes to grammar stuffs like that. Chinese do not require grammar however it does complex when writing. When it comes into writing Chinese is indeed much complex compared to English.
Dude, what are you talking about? Of course Chinese is harder than English. The writing in extremely hard, and the tones make learning how to speak it hard. English is just plain out easier. I can't even think of a language harder than Chinese. Even Japanese seems a lot easier compared to Chinese at lest for me it is.
@nitsujj2007 English pronunciation and spelling are much harder than Spanish ones, for instance. Chinese has a very difficult writing system, but other languages are more or less at the same level when it comes to difficulty. English grammar may be a little simpler but the ridiculous spelling makes up for that.
Just want to say, this guy's Chinese is just so so. Tones sometimes are off and speech sounds unnatural. When you're someone of European ancestry, the Chinese require less of you speaking perfect Chinese but you're treated like a celebrity. When you're someone of Asian ancestry, you're expected to speak perfect Chinese and the locals don't care how good you are, no matter how long you've learned it.

i see what you mean
showing the fancy restaurant right after the dumpling place is in a way mess up, because the dumpling place is definitely cheap.
trying to show that the foreigners can not
afford expensive food or something.
but you have to understand that in china there is no freedom or press or anything. hence the government may have done something or just a propaganda to degrade foreigners.
above is just my opinion, ( i dont want any pro-Chinese communist to shoot me
don't know why you think that way, really ridiculous! Do you really understand the video? OMG!!! The cheap dumpling place is actually where people go everyday and where people can get really delicious local food, just looks less fancy.
"hence the government may have done something or just a propaganda to degrade foreigners. "
really good imagination ... so you think the government can do some sort of magic?

Interesting in how it seems so familiar in style. Basically it's a human interest story with seemingly (at least I didn't understand it as such) little discussion on why or how the students are learning zhongwen. The chinese instructor is given a brief appearance and then it's asking the foreign students to tell the camera how much they like studying in China.
I hope to heaven btw that they aren't being taught Chinese as the Chinese are taught English.
