It was made mostly in the basement of the LV. After the success of the pilot, NBC ordered a full season and subsequently the production built sets at a different location.
This is a brilliant episode. I remember thinking so when it originally aired. But the funny thing is, medical professionals are NEVER supposed to use the words "everything will be fine". It's an invitation for a malpractice suit.
@TRJH1972 (accidentally commented with my husband's account) I have actually found it being done in numerous later episodes as well. I will chalk it up to the usual lack of accuracy in medical dramas. Although considering the involvement of Michael Crichton, I have trouble understanding why there were as many mistakes on this show as there have been.
@winnergirl72 when noah wyle was on ellen last year he stated that this episode was filmed in an actual hospital (linda vista) that was abandoned in like the late 80s
Even I like all the 15 seasons, I liket this pilot episode particularly. The speed of actions in ER is more real than the last seasons. And all doctors have experienced such nights so often... :)
is carter in this video? i would like to see a young version of him..only seen him in final scene of the finale

@lskeller120 Yeah, kinda strange. For me, old series usually seem older than they really are. With ER is the opposite.

ER is one of the greatest television dramas of all time mainly because it is so realistic. :D
