  • Can't play something like this without a pinky ring

  • Great teamwork!

  • Excellent Playing!! Excellent vision and stereo sound!!

  • @3dwurli - The majority of David Shepherd's home organ is Compton.

  • Wow...how cool!! I love the sound of the Compton!

  • @Organsk8er not that theres much of this organ thats compton now from what Ive heard!

  • Excellent.

I have the Vic Hammett LP of this on the Watford Town Hall Wurlitzer and it has long been a favoutite.

But where can I get the sheet music? Searching has drawn a blank except for a piece of the same name by someone called Krevitt which I guess is something quite different. I probably won't be able to play it but trying would be fun.

  • @brucem585 Hi Bruce. I doubt if the piece is available for sale. The best course of action might be to try to find someone who has a copy and ask if you might borrow it. An enquiry on one of the theatre organ Yahoo groups might bring a response e.g. UKCinemaOrgans.

  • @brucem585 Watford Town Hall is a Compton Multi purpose organ :-)

  • There's a lot of Joe Venuti on YouTube, but not his recording of this wonderful tune. I think it wouldn't be present on YouTube if not for this lovely video.

  • @quadibloc - The tune is probably a bit too recent for Joe Venuti, but very few recordings of it exist. Vic Hammett, the composer, recorded it once or twice, but that may be about the limit.

  • Beautiful sounding organ and playing. I don't know what you used to record this organ, but it certainly has quality sound recording. I have a 100 watt speaker system on the PC, and every high and low note really comes through ,especially the bass and many youtube videos of organ music doesn't, especially pipe organs. This is great.!

  • @maynardcat - The mics I used were a pair of Sennheisers fixed at 120deg to each other with the capsules about 30cm apart. I can't remember the model number, and it's not marked on them, but they are cardioid capacitor mics with a fairly narrow angle. They are about 30 years old.

  • What a fun!!! :)

Perfect instrument, superb piece, awesome performance and very good video.

    WE NEED MORE :)

  • Is there any good quality mp3 of this melody performed by Richard Hills? I'm ready to pay for it!

  • @Yashminator No, Richard has not recorded this piece (other than this clip).

  • @Yashminator If you have AUDACITY on your computer, you can record this directly by selecting 'wave out' as the audacity input source, select record, bring the clip up, and simply play it. Audacity will record it. Do a level check first though. Doesn't seem to work if you have Vista though. (So a friend tells me.)

Then use Audacity to convert to M.P.3. Simple.

  • Come back to Watford Town Hall!

  • I can't stop watching this video!!!! I absolutely love it!

  • Absolutly awesome!

  • What a great little latin ditty. Beautifull rolling marimbas, throbbing tibias and latin percussions. What a group effort.

  • And a FANTASTIC album Graduation is too, try also the Cinema Organ Society Podcast of him playing at Worthing, well worth the small download fee. Find it on COS website!

  • Great work. and, speaking of the initials GW -voiced and played like a HiFi recording by George Wright. Nice camera work on the internal cuts of the percussions in action. Regarding recording- has Mr. H done any?

  • @klavier1us: Yes, several. I think his CD 'Graduation' is still available. Type 'COS-sales' into Google and you should be able to get one there.

  • @EditorJohn dickinson theatre organ society has them for sale too on their website.

  • Yay!!!
