This gives me the feeling of drifting down a gentle river enjoying green scenery and dipping one hand into the cool water. That might sound corny but it just carries me away.
I'm pleased to post with all you other Rankin fans. My goodness what a talent he was. I saw him in Chicago several times. Simply marvelous. I liked his keyboard work also. Nice chords, voicings. He gave us a lot.
Saw him at the Main Point in the 70s. By far the most naturally talented performer ever. Kenny would just take his guitar and start singing, and the beauty of it all was a miracle. If there is a heaven, Kenny is there.
To be honest, I found "The Kenny Rankin Album" in a bunch of my parents old things the other day. I remembered my father talking about Rankin and how he took his college girlfriend to see him somewhere in Connecticut in the 70's. I decided to put the album in and was blown away. The voice on this guy is un real. His version on the album of Guitar Gently weeps is incredible. Favorites from the album "Make Believe", "Love You" and "When Sunny gets Blue".
Kenny was a genius ... I had the pleasure of seeing him perform in Georgetown (Wash DC) once ... I had all his albums ... and am steadily building up my cd collection. this one in particular is genius.
It is so nice of you to post this on my you tube site. Kenny was a good friend I forgot to mention that the Producer of the Family Album was Jack Lewis who was a partner of Monty Kaye the producer of the Flip Wilson TV Show. The strings on Prudence were Gene Orloff and 2 other violin players. The cello player was George Ricci I'm am Artie Schroeck AKA rexydad. There is a CD of this album from Japan. You can find it on Amazon, the quality is much better. Thanks again
It is an honor to meet you on here Artie and I would like to thank you again for your help. And thank you also for letting me know about the CD of the "Family" album.
This is my most, most, favorite cover of any Beatles song ever! Kenny was blessed with such an incredibly beautiful voice. I am sad to leatn that he is gone!
