  • Can you double on this bike?? (I know it's a race bike and all) And if not, what is the padding on the back for??

  • forte

  • This guy loves Yamaha R1... ;)

  • I swear these fu**ing ads are getting out of hand now.

  • @Linkz14 too right mate

  • @DesmosediciAlice use adblock plus ;)

  • @DesmosediciAlice Honestly man. I can't take it anymore. I want back the OLD Youtube.

  • @Linkz14 use adblock plus ;)

  • God damn I want one.

  • R1 ROCKXXXXXX!!!!

  • Fucking uuugggglllyyy!

  • At 1:09 did he say "Rossi eat your heart out" ?!

  • The best thing about this bike is the handling and the pull it has through all gears! Absolutely a blast to ride . If you are 17 work your way up, get a r6! Ive got 14 years of riding rockets and i can say, if i would've started out on a 1000cc bike, i probably be dead! If you think this bike sounds horrible then go to the ear doctor! Aftermarket exhaust and this baby screams and turns alot of heads!

  • a g8 bike...rarest !!!!

  • Too bad we don't get any lap times.

  • @20LW12 if your looking to get a sports bike as your first bike then get a 600 like an R6 or CBR600 RR.

They would have a lot more power than you (or I) could handle and slightly less chance of killing yourself.

  • @DOREY27 my first bike its r1 i am happy

  • is the best bike

  • im 17 and thinking about getting a sport bike what would be the insurance on one of these a month?

  • @20LW12 If its your first bike forget about the insurance on an R1, or any 1000cc supersport. Quite frankly you will be lucky if you get one and don't die in six months, in all seriousness.

  • mcn should buy new camera's and sound stuff

  • i love the sound:)

  • dont like the fairings on this model but damn its still a sik R1!!

  • "sounds horrible". yes it is :/ I agree

  • Looks like a cross between a vespa scooter and a fridge, sounds like my my old lady's sewingmachine and it wants to kill you first chance it gets.

    I dont get it.

    Signed, Harley owner.

    Oh, you guessed that. Roflmao

  • this bike is an awesome machine,it takes practice to ride it as it is so different to anything else, but when you start to ride it well its seriously good but takes practice.

  • so many bikes.. give one to me!! ;D

  • some here don't like the sound,,,,,,,,,,,I do.

  • @duckgeezer I like it too... i don't like that squeaking sound of wannabe sport bikes...

  • a good down payment is 3,000- 4,500 $ i gota 2008 r6 last year with 4,00 down and paid it off, and just last week puta 4,600 on a 2010 r1 ... a lot depends on your credit too... if u have a good co-signer then you dont really need a down payment... i was told if u dont have a down payment your credit should be in the mid to high 600's

  • @19jadkins89 Here in LA you'll need a score of 630 and above for a bike. cause it's for pleasure and fun. and if it needed to be repossessed you can easily hide it.

  • Are bikes easier than a car I was hoping to put a payment down how much money that I have. How are bikes ask for a licsense to able to drive on a road?

  • Sounds like a dustbin and lookes like a bad joke. Why Yamaha???!!! IF I would ever want to buy an R1, it would be the 2005-er.

  • the R1 sounds liek a beast

  • shit sound shit optik-.-

  • this engine in a chassis from the 2005er R1 omg this would so great... the RN22 is ugly :( the design from RN12 RN19 omg a dream

  • Yamaha R1 rules ! 2000-2010! ever!!! amazing look, crazy engine ;))

  • how is this bike for long rides, say about 300 miles? is it comfortable to ride? im thinking of getting one...is riding in rain not good for bike? any input appreciated

  • Im looking into upgrading to a 1000. I want either a 08-10 ZX10 or 09+ R1, which bike would be better for street riding? Thanks

  • @jmicm13

I would think the ZX is more comfortable for (everyday) street riding. I'm not too fond of the ZX looks but the 09 R1 is just plain ugly from the front :). The R1 is probably a bit lighter though.

  • @jmicm13

How about a GSX-R btw? Those are some nice street bikes too.

  • love the 07 R1 still... this bike is ugly.. dont like the design of the upper fairing, who made that? must have been drunk..

way too crossed eye for me... lol jk

  • this bike would be the best if it didn't look like a freaking praymantis.

  • I like the way this bike sounds compared to most inline-4's!

  • @partyman6666 Me too man. I know a lot don't, but to each their own I say. I love this now, didn't at first, but it's definately grown on me.

  • not good for fat people, when they sit on it there ass gonna touch the exhaust :D

  • @Salamiboy34 Guess tey shouldn't be on a bike then. It is like natural selection for the motorcycle world. lol.

  • @Salamiboy34 I think they designed this part of exhaust to not be hot? :P

  • Yamaha knew they fucked up with this 2009 model!

2008 R1 has around 8 more horses than this 2009.

  • @Sneer111 i have had a 2008 r1 and now have 2009 model your right it does have less horsepower but it would piss all over my 2008 r1 out of corners, low range and mid range grunt are very different,

  • @SuperEnochpowell Had the 07 until last year....you hit the nail on the head. If its less horsepower it doesn't show IMO! Safe riding my friend!

  • sounds horrible stock

  • try to put akrapovic exhausts on it and anybody tells me if hasn't go a good sound and it's ugly to see...

  • i much prefer the r6, in terms of looks

  • 1:13 now that's nice : ]

  • @PureInsanity00: hell yeah, and the sweet thing bout Yamaha R1 is that if u feel that its too tall for you, then you can lower it up to 1,5 inches (front and rear)

most bikers will tell you that if you lower a bike though, you will mess with its handling capabilities, and lowering a R1 will make it a bit "fishy" when doing sharp corners in low speed (sub 15kmph) the beuto of lowering this bike though, is that u can accellerate even harder witthout front wheel coming up

  • i h8 the sound of dry clutch on duca

  • @o0jun0o what a clutch? and whats a dry one?

  • @PureInsanity00 clutch is used to shift gear up or down. im a total nub but ducati i believe uses dry clutch. and wen u start it up, the engine sounds like"DUT DUT DUT DUT" with wet clutch, i think it sounds, "DUUUUUUUUU" but i believe it has no impact on performance.

  • @PureInsanity00 the clutch is the device that is used to "temporarely disconnect the engine from the gearbox" so that gear shifting goes smoothe and does not stress the engine and gearbox.

wet cluch: submersed in oil or coolant, very durable and ressistant to "idiot cluching"

dry cluch: engine becomes easy to stall due to short cluch movement, but less power is lost on the way from engine to gearbox. (prefered for racing)

and just a sidenote: cluch types does not affect engine sound.

  • @anonymouz79 Thank very much, mate. :)

  • the cross plane crankshaft is to reduce torque, wtf is that guy talking about.

  • @boymaut: "Cross plane crankshaft" is a gimmic that Yamaha invented for the american market.

that a motor has a "cross plane crankshaft" means that it has 1 crankshaft that runs all pistons in the engine.

it was just a gimmic put into the sales of the bike in the usa cause everyone knows that americans LOVES it when u put a fancy name on something totally meaningless.

  • I just sold my 07 R1 2 months ago and got the 09. The 09 torque is craaaaazy, I like this bike way more than my 07 and I actually like the look more too...

  • @DrDizzave Hi there i have a 08 yamaha r1 and thinking to buy 2010 yamaha r1 how is u think newer r1 is better tx for reading

  • @ubica021 I can't remember what I wrote previously, but I had the 07 R1 and now have the 09 R1. I'm probably not the best person to ask since my opinions are based on personal taste. I do like the look for the new R1 better and the 3 modes is pretty tight. I definitely feel more "grunt" and it seems to be a lot quicker. I'd take the 09 over the earlier models in a heartbeat, either for performance or looks. I have the raven and just ordered the devil eyes...

  • I just sold my 07 R1 2 months ago and got the 09. The 09 torque is craaaaazy, I like this bike way more than my 07 and I actually like the look more too...

  • WTF The HD Quality sucks

  • 0:01

  • I'm a Honda Fan but, there is no doubt about it Yamaha did and excellent job with the newer R1's.

  • R1 or R6 are you serious? I have a 2009 R1 and love it!!! This bike is awesome!!! One of the best out there!

  • Obviously you've never raced against an RD 400.

  • EMISSION LAWS = CATS = UGLY EXHAUSTS

  • R1 or R6 for my first bike?

  • @endlesstime41

    1st sport bike? Kawi 250R.

  • @endlesstime41

    R1 ;)

  • @endlesstime41 Neither, unless you want to run a good risk of dying. There are tons of great starter bikes out there: the Suzuki Gladius, for example or even something smaller like a Kawi Ninja 250. But a 600 or 1000 cc superbike is not a wise choice. Move up to that after you know what you're doing.

  • @UCMolosser Well I've been riding motorcycles my whole life and I don't want a 250 or anything like that I want to start with at least a 600 cc and I have rode my cousins Triumph 675 even though I can't drive yet so I will have to decide I am more looking at the R6 then a 1000cc bike after I get some experience.

  • @endlesstime41 Ah, I thought you really meant first bike when you said first bike. <y mistake.

  • @UCMolosser Its cool.

  • fahr ich locker mim scooter so schnell :DDD

  • @endlesstime41

Because one is the hi beam and one is the low

  • Everybody I have only one word "ROSSI" if all these other bike are so good then why are then not winning!!!!!

  • 2008 model all the way

  • Hey MCN, love your vids but please, do something about the sound when a second person is recording your reporters - half of it is background noise and wind.

  • Love this bike! However, how would it do compared to bmw's new S1000RR. I here the BMW is surpriseingly powerfull_190-202hp-only if it looked as good as this R1. What you guys think? R1 or S1RR?

  • @Unity0Is0Power the s1000rr is a better bike imo, but quite fugly plus everyone who is buying a new bike atm is buying the bmw, and having the same bike as everyone else is no fun, so id get an r1, if money was no object, id get an r1, tune the engine, uprated components e.t.c, full race exhaust with fuel map, uprated forks and brakes and hey presto youve got a bike that puts the s1000rr's to shame :)

  • i like this bike

  • CHECK OUT MY R1 ON MY CHANNEL!

  • The busa needs an update badly.

  • la hayabusa la numero 111111111111111111111uno

  • F R E E - download yamaha motorcylce manuals ++

    *** - freemotorcyclemanuals (dot) net

  • даааа! Р1 сцуко сила!

  • THE DISEGN IS THE LAST FACTOR. the power, grip, brake, sansations, reliable is much more important

because the R1 2009 is the best bike in the world

  • is it true that the 09 R1 is somewhat bigger than the usual sportbikes? I'm asking because I have a very tall friend who would like to ride sportbikes but is just too tall for the normal 600ccm and 1000ccm sportbikes

  • r1 is too fat.... cbr1000rr is the best at 1000c :)

  • @boglook i agree :)

  • this is the most UGLY R1 OF THE HISTORY!!! THE BEST IS R1 2007/2008

  • yea man for sure

  • i have a R1 for sale, 800 miles on it, perfect condition message me if u are interested

  • the exhaust sound is more than rubbish. What were they thinking!

  • 2012 the R8 will come,cant wait !

They aint gonna make many of them and the price will be about 45k in dollars.

  • You go fuck your self

  • keep dreaming

  • Why cover them further? ( headlights ) or those '' not exposed bulbs " ?

Just to protect them from bugs, insects ...

If you don't ride a lot you just don't know what does it mean ...

It's easier to clean the plastic cover than deal with all dirt around those '' covered bulbs .

Air intake of course can not have any cover . It's so obvious .

  • blaa blaa blaa bulshit... but i still like R1 why don't u guys compare the very old model old model and brand new to see how much improvement have they done instead of this bla bla incredible bla bla....

  • Yes, you're right the headlights should have plastic covers . Otherwise after one ride entire front section will be full of insects etc..

  • @Motozigg can't theres an airintake where the headlights used to be..

  • @Motozigg

Uh, yes dear, let us cover the intake manifold so that the engine can't breathe. See how much performance you gain from it. -_-

  • My dear , I said " the headlights should have plastic covers " - I didn't say cover air intakes :( .

  • @Motozigg

My dear, the headlights ARE the air intakes. They are ram effect.

  • Headlights are not airintakes !!!

The headlight openings have airintakes and it makes big difference !

If you cover headlight it doesn't mean you have to close entire " headlight opening "

  • @Motozigg

Dude, the headlights are ALREADY covered. They aren't exposed bulbs... Why cover them further? Your original comment can easily be misinterpreted as you ignoring the fact that by covering the headlight (which , unless covered by a translucent film, would be highly stupid anyway. Because for all that trouble you're better off removing the lights) you have to partially restrict the airflow and alter the fluid dynamics of the bike.

  • I am a gixxer fan to the core, It wins races and my K5 is awsome. I must admit that this R1 is a machine to be to watch.

Although the front since they did not cover the headlights, Is ugly. Oh yeah i agree w/ doc about the Suzukis stock exhaust, it is ugly.

  • clearly no 720p and the guy looks like a sausage

  • The "ugliest" exhaust would be the GSX one...well just an opinion ,just as mine.

  • @DocMissile

Dude, the "ugliest" exhaust is your MOUTH talking SHIT. Nobody cares about your damn opinion dweeb. Just MY opinnion...

  • @DocMissile I agree,i love gsx but...man its ugly exhaust. :)

  • One of the ugliest Exhausts on the market! I don't like the sound of the 2009 model too, it sounds like a touring bike! I prefer the shrill noise of a normal 4 cylinder. Actually I ride a R6 RJ11, I love the sound of this bike! My next bike will be the RN19, that's for sure! By the way the 2009 model is too expensive and it isn't really faster than the RN19! Just promises and commerce to sell more bikes!

  • @Ebul146 i agree with u.. BTW seams that u have clearly knowledge what u saying (i like it )

  • dont like the actual r1. i still prefer the character and sound of the rn19 (2007/08)

i bought the rn19 once in 08, then again in 09 although i waited for the new one. unfortunately i have been disappointed.

let us pray that the next one will be as sexy as the old one and includes abs ;) i am really missing that:p

  • i wonder how much money mcn got for kissing yamaha,s arse in that video??

  • @LEEBLANTYRE

Nothign because they also tell when its crap.

  • @rboeyen im not knocking the bike i have 1

  • wow what a sound, doesnt sound like a inline 4 ... sounds like a V configuration ...

  • i am looking to upgrade is their a possibility that i could get a r1 or r6 inblue and white with bronze wheels?

  • you'd have to do it yourslef or take it to a shop as far as i know

  • Sure the jap bikes go hard and look the goods, but like nipples, belly-buttons and ass-holes; everyone has one. Sure Ducati's are pricey, but there works of art as well.

  • @MakeTheNoiseMTB

There isn't alot of difference between a ducati or yamaha. Both are made with alot of research. Ducati does use more expensive parts, but you pay for it.

  • MCN Roadtest: 2009 Yamaha R1 tested free at W W W . TV-Video . us

  • This R1 is nice looking though

  • Yeah, Ducatis are so superior to these bikes, that's why they won the Moto GP championship, and the WSBK championship in 09..... oh wait a sec, Yamaha won BOTH of those series in DIRECT competition with Ducati. The only way to say which is faster is to put them head to head. Yamaha won, Ducati lost, get over it. Buy whatever bike you want to ride if you are happy with it, but don't put down Yamaha just because you think it's cool to spend so much money on an overpriced bike.

  • hahahaha Sooo true R1 did win those this is fact so yeah people need to get over the fact that the cost of the bike means nothing, but head to head racing does.

  • wether its italian or not, doesnt matter, the price tag should matter either, suzuki yamaha and kawasaki might make bikes with more power, but these bikes are all an inline4, italian bikes such as a ducati 1000 are a v twin, these produce alot more torque, which will really power u out of the corners, alot of inline 4's have so much power they get alot of wheel spin out of the corners, the v twins dont. but again, its personal choice.

  • i cant understand why people buy ducatis when yamaha, kawa and suzuki makes better bikes in terms or power?

  • cuz most of the japanese bikes are butt ugly!! They don't pay attention to the looks of the bike. Ducatis are beautifull works of art.

  • "Swinging" arm...???

Did you get the impression he liked this bike? Does he sleep with it?

  • Can you also get a yamaha R1 with ABS and traction control like they have in Moto GP? I don't want to loose control over it :P

  • they dont got ABS, but Im not sure about traction control... All I know is that the Ducati 1198s got traction control :O

  • odracirseraoseia1999 - What are you compensating for? I bet you can drive your F430 and GTR at the time too!!!

  • yamaha over ducati anyday....an amazing bike that doesnt have a poser rep

  • @MASIFURI That's right.. and with the crossplane crankshaft it sounds better too ;P

  • @MASIFURI ducati is a realm of its own. just like you cant compare a subaru to a lambo. its prestige. the r1 is a great bike, but ducati is ducati

  • @MASIFURI

this japanese bike is just for those who cant afford a ducati or aprilia!!!

  • @rama6maiden yeah ok retard...goto a cafe with your 1098.

  • @rama6maiden Maybe. But you're leaving out the most omportant thing. Japanese bike owners also routinely beat the shit out of the over-priced Euro bikes and they are much more reliable. So endeth the lesson.

  • @MASIFURI not really.......The Desmosedici RR is more powerful than the R1.and the 1198 has more cc.

and about the aprilia.the RSV4 is an amazing bike at the track.the R1 is better at the road,i agree, but the RSV4 is amazing on the track!!!

  • @xelamos95 dont get me wrong. these bikes are unbelievable...the italians have got there stuff together when it comes to the design...but im just talking from a personal point of view. i love jap bikes. i dont know why but there is something that appeals to me about them...it just seems like anyone who doesnt know bikes will say "oh what do you ride...is it a ducati" if you get what i mean.

but dont get me wrong these are all beautiful machines.

  • @MASIFURI whatever we say it wouldn't bother me to have an ZX10R[i think it's more beautiful than the R1 and it has more power due to Ram-Air(200 HP)]

    :)

  • ducati is in a totaly different class you can compare them totaly different bikes

  • @MASIFURI posers get the woman

  • @Sasenader BAHA. failed. i got my woman. and a japanese sports bike. im happy.

  • @MASIFURI Trellis frame and clean colours over silly stickers and plastic looking frame anyday......

  • frhg

  • wow R1 yamaha is an awesome bike, yamaha always rock.

  • which one will you choose? DUCATI 1098

    or this YAMAHA 2009 R1?

  • Would you choose a Nissan GTR over a Ferrari F430?

    Exactly.

  • let me think...hahahahaha...just kidding...ofcourse i'll choose a ferrari than a nissan...

  • I'd take the GTR over a ferrari any day. I could care less about snob appeal. It's all about performance.

  • Good for you.

  • Yes i would!!! Ferraris are shit heaps.... Toss appeal (ducati)(ferrari) vs Genuine performance(gtr)(R1)...

  • Thank god you'll never have the money to actually make that decision.

  • HAHAHAHAHAH... Look out Big spender... Do you even ride a motorcycle??? I bet you have a Ferrari F430 and a GTR you can compare, dont you?? So post a Video and show everyone how rich and how fucking good you are!!!! You fucking GOOSE... Its my opinion, why do you have to bring wealth into this????

  • @Biathrone Easy the winner of 2009, Yamaha R1

  • relax guys, we're just saying our own opinions and either way...whether it's a japanese or italian, all of those machines are superb, it's just a matter of personal taste and choice

  • we not going to hearing from u then...RIPieces

  • in my opinion it looks ugly the 06, 07, and the 08 models r the best looking ones

  • i wanna buy a yamaha r1 2009 after passing my license, but i've never ridden a bike with gears and clutch ,only scooters like YAMAHA TMAX, it is too much powerfull for me ?? or i can get it with no problems??

  • tats not a big problem at all, the only thing is just the new feel from scooter to superbike, and be patient not to slam the throttle unless u get comfy with ur ride..powerfull or not is not a big issue when u ride this beast, just tat u need to "tame" it and it is yours to command..lol..:p

  • i have a friend who wanna buy this bike but he

has never ridden a scooter or a bike, what do you suggest hem??

    thanks men!!

  • never ridden a bike before and already goin for R1? tell him to try a 600cc bike to see how it feels.. 1000cc is too much for someone that hasnt ridden before.. Try R6.. same exterior as r1.. well almost..

  • i suggest ninja250r, bcoz, if u choose r6 it 'feels' like r1 except for power and top speed of course..ninja 250r bcoz it is40kg lighter from other 1000cc superbikes , easier to maneuver, u can learn on how to maintain the bikes, learn some basic riding skill such as knee down, changing gear at the corner,

  • etc, and 250 is cheap :p only if ure comfy enough wiht ur skills then proceed to 1000 cc bikes, theres no need for 600 if u think u can handle the beast, provided u already have the skills needed :p
