People can listen to any genre or musical form they want to. I know from jazz to blues to new wave to metal to southern rock I just love music! But Rush has an elevated place for me in music, the highest of all art-forms. Yep, people can listen to whoever they want, but for me? "I will choose Free Will"! Beautiful song, rock on forever boys...
The thing about Rush is that they have made endlessly interesting music to listen, re-listen & re-re listen to for decades now. It holds up! Intelligent, compelling lyrics and instrumentally there is ALWAYS something going on to keep you riveted to the respective songs. They take their musicianship to a higher level on every song of every album. To me, this is the very apex of musical art & what all players should aspire to. Started listening in 7th grade (2112) & decades later STILL love them!
@thetreesify well that was state of the art back there in 81, so tech is outdated, but how about the music? I don't know about you but every time I hear this song it just sounds better, and better.
My all-time favorite RUSH song. Im learning how to play Moving Pictures in its entirety by teaching myself. So far got the first three tracks down almost
i wish Alex still played with his Fenders. all I see him play is gibsons and the sound is just not the same as back then. i heard for there next album they want to get back to some of these old roots....can't wait top hear it and see it live!
I like alex lifeson but this song demonstrates why I love Rush so much. the bass and drums make this song. They are amazing. The intro and exit is great. And the drums push it. This is my favorite Rush song.
Rush was one of the tightest, most musically sound rock bands ever. Crap, their live performances were as tight as most bands these days hope to be in studio. This song captures that very well.
I was just listening to this song this morning, and remembered seeing them on this tour in Reno, NV. This is one of those great Rush songs that make you use your imagination to visualize the action of the song. I thought to myself man I wish I could see that background animation they had during the tour, and damn here it is. Thanks for posting!
being a car guy i always loved this song...and this Band....saw them on this tour. such a great visionary song about the government taking away your rights to the internal combustion engine. it's 28 years later and the electric cars are coming and the great cars from the 60s are soon to be gone.
man, you gotta love that early 80's animation... but this is seriously one of my favorite songs, and videos. despite the fact that alex lifeson has the WORST guitar face ever. but this is great. thanks for posting.
This is one beautiful song which portrays itself like a video inside my head... A foray into an Orwellian future where cars are banned and one man commits a weekly crime by taking joy rides in the country, or is it just a dream? Nice images
Back when Geddy could still hit the high notes.
