Western Civilization is the gift of the Church. This is a simple fact. Why would the invading barbarians from the fringes of the Roman Empire have valued & preserved the cultural accomplishments of the Greeks & Romans if not for the Church which transmitted this culture to barbarians.

Christian values and ethical principles were responsible for the elimination of slavery, apartheid, racism, and unjust discrimination on the basis of race, color of skin, or sex. Catholicism has enriched and uplifted the cultures of the world with art, music, poetry, and literary achievements.

Had not been for the Catholic church we would have still been thrown arrows to each other.

Just imagine that orders like the Cartusians existed much before ANY European country ever existed...and in fact, civilizacion was preserved by monks when Europe was put on siege by Muslins in the South, & Vikings in the North.
