I must agree...I do like this host. She is a very good balance between Heidi & the others (I too have watched pretty much all PR's with varying opinions. I still think Tim is BY FAR the best mentor in any PR!).

Anyway, can anyone explain why they bounce between English & whatever language they are speaking often in the same sentence? I was pleasantly surprised to find this was in English, but it confuses me--especially when they subtitle the non-English verbatim as it is said. Anyone? Thanks!

it's called codeswitching, and it's common in the Philippines to switch between the two major and official languages, English and Filipino. And the version you see here is intended for Philippine broadcast. The subtitles were provided to make inaudible lines delivered by the speakers understandable. :)

the other official language isn't Filipino, its Tagalog. There are aprx. 120 different dialects in the Philippines.

This is just a thing but Tagalog is a dialect by which Filipino is based. :) Check the Philippine Constitution.

I like the designs in this episode, my first episode. However, I wish they provided subtitles for when they did not speak in English. That way, more people will get to enjoy it and also get to know the designs there.

kahit siguro gusto nila tagalog na lang, ni-require siguro sila ng producers na mas mag-english kasi marami ring project runway fans na galing sa ibang bansa, isipin mo galing US fan base nila. Siyempre nagreresearch rin yung iba dun at gugustuhin panoorin to.

Para siguro masmaraming tao makaintindi. International market habol ng show na to e, para maging international fashion capital ang Pilipinas.

Pero kunsabagay, pwede naman nilang i-subtitle. Ewan ko kung bakit di nila ginagawa dito.
