I remember when you first posted this. You had less than a thousand hits. Love this song. Once I start listening to McCartney on youtube I can't get off. Like Bette Davis said: "Fasten your seat belts; it's going to be a bumpy ride."
Really, really cool. Been waiting to see if anyone would do something with this Great Powerful piece!!!!!!!!!!! I can't help thinking Paul is talking to himself here. About the loss of Linda. Maybe that's just me reading too much into the lyrics, but Paul does disguise so much of his lyrics. And this is precisely what you call it - an experimental art film. Such a good song and good visual treatment of it.
@marga90 There are so many heavy Macca songs. You can't go wrong with the albums "Wings Over America," very BIG, very seventies, very rocking, and his latest album "Electric Arguments" is very heavy in tone. Songs: Soily Let Me Roll It (Outtake from Band On the Run) Letting Go Spin It On She's Given Up Talking Nothing Too Much Just Outta Sight Helter Skelter (live!) Old Siam Sir Lonely Road I've Got a Feeling (live!) Beware My Love The Mess India Lonely Road Wildlife (live!) Lots more...
Has anyone checked out Paul McCartney's experimental films from the 60s they are quite interesting. Well some of them are anyway. He was into avant garde well before John Lennon was. It wasn't until JL met Yoko he expressed an interest. Untill then he regarded and actually said that avant garde was french for bullshit.
No, I haven't had the opportunity to see any of his experimental films. but, it is correct, like it or not, Paul was the avant garde Beatle, but he was also the one who loved all that music hall stuff, a complicated guy with a wide variety of interests. He deserves more credit than the Cult Of Lennon allows. And he has continued to be highly experimental, check out "Daumier's Law."
@OrpheusIsThe1 You do know that many people that saw Yoko's films had no praise for them...and still don't....and btw...in the Pink Floyd song, "Several Species of Small Furry Animals...." there is a hidden message in the sound track that when the speed of the turntable [or data feed] is slowed down can be heard saying "If that ain't avant garde,, I don't know what is?"...check it out...some one did post a vid on yt demonstrating that.
@nakidsoul You do know that many people have no praise for Mozart or Madonna or Pink Floyd don't you? They have no praise for them and still don't. Oh and by the way there are many more people now who regard Yoko as a brilliant artist in her own right and there were also at the time you are speaking about many who also did. As for the slowing down I simply refer you to Judas Priest and the notorious "Do it/ peppermint" trial in the US. Says it all. Your argument is invalid.
To all of you who have been enjoying my videos, I have just sent copies of them to McCartney at MPL and am hoping he sees them. I know he liked my "222" video, so I am hoping he might dig these. It's a longshot, but why not?
If anyone has any addresses where I can send him more copies, send me a private message.
If anyone can think of ways to get McCartney to see these videos, let me know... give me some ideas.
I never could figure it out, but according to the book "The Unknown McCartney" there is a "secret message" in the song. I always wondered what it was, and maybe this is it...
Thanks! Anyone who wants to learn more watch the rotten apple series or paul is dead at the end of the world... it is phenomenal stuff! Btw, I don't want it to be true by any means, I just reported what it sounds like to my ears. There is much more than this with the Beatles, with Wings songs and in his solo work. Why does he keep this up if it means nothing? No lie, someone could spend months dissecting the Sgt. Pepper's album cover ALONE! There is so much on that... brilliant but creepy!
My theory on the "Paul is dead" stuff (and keep in mind, this is just my theory) that it started out very innocently and unintentionally, probably even sparked from a lot of coincidence and fan and press conjecture and then the Beatles (and Paul still) got caught up in it and have had years of fun with it as it has now become part of the mystique and legend of the Beatles.
Well, could you give one of those sites a check? I'd love to get someone else's feedback on it. Anyone, I'd love to discuss this further. Right now, it's beyond creepy and if there are any rational explanation, as the saying goes, I'm all ears! LOL :-)
Old Macca, going back to those days when the Beatles were introducing common-nowadays innovations such as ADT, Flanger, Chorus, Varispeeding recording and such.
yeah this is definitely rock/metal song! even at 66 years old, he still kick ass for everybody! THE BIGGEST ALIVE LEGEND!!! I think Macca will never lose his voice, the more I listen his voice, the more I will state that he have greatest vocal! Legends are Legends like Mr. King McCartney!!!
o.k. you've convinced me. this is a kick ass track, and video. ever since i first saw this, I reconsidered not only this track but the Driving Rain album. Great work again , mccrabapple.
Thanks shadefluffy1. Driving Rain remains a favorite of mine. It´s really ecclectic. In my experience it´s the McCartney albums I didn´t initially like that have become my favorites. Sometimes you can´t come at his work head-on, you have to let it sneak up on you.
Hey Mccrabapple, Fantastic video, thanks for sharing with all us Macca and music fans. Some people knocked that album but like your self I love it too, neat collection of songs, I especially love "She's Given Up Talking" and "Spinning On An Axis". Also love the new album "Memory Almost Full" I love Paul, he is full of surprises and gems!!! very underated these days regarding his solo albums, he's the BEST!!!
still have to say I much prefer the fireman to this one. clever as it is. I was bitterly disappointed with driving rain, maybe that's why. 'raindrops' remixed as a 4:00 song would have been amazing.
Nice job of '222', and excellent taste with"India" as a favorite.
I'll vote for 'Kampuchea', 'rushes', 'band on the run', for albums,'let me roll it'[live 2002], 'partial to your abracadabra', 'why so blue' best tracks.
vera0507, More or less. I think he started hitting a creative peak in 1989, and the momentum has kept building over the last 18 years. It blows me away that he can continue to have such vision after all these years.

Yes, and it was Paul who was awake all night to do the dubs for Tomorrow Never Knows. Lennon was lazy.

Lennon even admitted Paul had a habit of coming in with 10 songs and saying time to record boys. Lennon would say just give me a week.
