  • James Garner is amazing, he is the best at sarcasm. I love these satirical types of westerns there aren't too many made anymore. I did just see one film recently called Good for Nothing, it makes fun of how people glorify the West by showing its brutality, but the violence is in all good fun. youtube. com/watch?v=gRYZNCVeZDY

  • One dislike must be named Danby.

  • 'that ws the fella who crossed the line earlier today "ha ha

  • I think this was the comedy version of a couple of great John Wayne movies.

  • My favourite film of all time. How to clean up a lawless town without getting stressed whilst always being on the way to Australia and suffering from terminal niceness. Genius!

  • My dad loves these movies. He made me watch this recently (even though I didn't want to ) with him and I LOVED it!!!

  • bruce dern is one of the greatest actors of the age, he has continued his work from his younger years to his older, he was amazing as joe in this scene, and personally i don't htink they hanged him he was toom uch for for the sheriff to poke fun at

  • I laughed tears while watching this movie. Happy to recognize still some US-Citizens have humor.

There was the whole movie uploaded - where is it?

Yesterday I watched until part 7, cannot find the rest.

    Thanks for uploading!

  • I love this clip from Support Your Local Sheriff. I've got the dvd. This is such a hoot!!!

  • lol he's so casual with the shootings

  • This movie was way ahead of its time. I watched it alot as a kid because it was a western and I loved westerns. It wasn't til much later that I could appreciate all the great one-liners in the film and what a great job James Garner did.

  • "Joe" is Bruce Dern, a great actor from the 60s and 70s. I wonder whatever happened to him; you don't see him in movies these days.

  • Sure we do. He plays "Frank," the father of Bill Paxton's character on the HBO series Big Love. Great character, too.

  • @yanevenu and janice94304: Thanks for the tip! I don't own a television these days, and don't miss it much either, LOL, but it would be fun to see old Bruce Dern again. He used to be a major movie actor, but there's as much money in television as the movies these days apparently. The movies are mostly as bad as tv lately, so I guess it makes sense.

  • @KaptKan1

You can see Bruce Dern in HBO's "Big Love" as Bill Paxton's father, a villain of course.

  • @KaptKan1 I recently saw a movie made just a couple of years ago. I forget the name of it but it was similar to "Hoosiers" only it was the true story of a girls team. Bruce Dern played the bad guy (and he played it well)

  • @mreaganismyhero Bruce Dern is a terrific character actor!

  • This is from "Support Your Local Sheriff"

  • what the name of this move???

  • Remember what the sheriff said,no more shooting til the sun goes down.

    Is that what he said?

It's close enough, brother. Drinks are on the house.

  • I love this movie!

  • That's the fella who crossed the line earlier today...

  • Ooh thats funny......That is real funny!!!

  • Well this is just plain dumb and stupid.....

  • 3:31 READ????

  • me and the sheriff takes a dim view of showoffs with guns

  • Bruce Dern doesn't live that far from me. I live in Gulfport, MS and he lives in Lumberton, MS.

  • i love it when prudy is in the tree and james garner and the neighbour are talking about when prudy got her hair caught in the ice cream freezer! the neighbours laugh is just sooooo funny!

  • Best western spoof and one of the funniest movies, period. Always a pleasure to watch James Garner, but the whole cast here was exquisite--and this was the first time i'd ever seen Jack Elam as a nice (and very funny) guy. And Bruce Dern! "Do I have to listen to him? He ain't nothing but the town character!" Has anyone posted the scene featuring Garner and Harry Morgan where they discuss the "departing" of Prudie's mother? Priceless stuff.

  • I can't get over how different Jack Elam looks without a beard (remember him as Big Mac in "The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again." :)

  • @wlbaz THAT was Jack Elam? I totally did not recognize him! Whoa!

  • Smoooooth acting from James Garner one of the best in the business. He make it all seem so effortless, all the while it's hard work..

  • "Remember what the sheriff said, no more shootin' 'til the sun goes down!"

  • That's close enough!!!!!

  • yr mean. where is the rest? please

  • what is the name of the move????

  • Support Your Local Sheriff

  • Oh I have been wondering what this movie was called, damn funny!

  • One of my favorite segments of one of my favorite movies. "Joe, you just make me feel tired all over when you talk like that."

    "You're kidding!"

    "That's what I said!"

My late mother and I watched this over and over...thanks for posting!

  • deputy Jack Elam was a former accountant.

  • I thought he was the town character.

  • I thought he shoveled horse shi... worked stables

  • hi i usualy do not like comedy westerns but this one is great please forgive my spelling i have had a few best wishes paul boon uk

  • One of my favorite comedies... Especially when Walter Brennan gets involved... "Get your finger outa my gun!" ... Thanks for posting the clip.

  • One of the funniest movies EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is one of my favorite movies. It's sooo funny. My parents say that it's too dumb, but then they watch Napoleon Dynamite. That just doesn't make sence.

  • To add my agreement with the others, I love this movie. James Garner and the entire cast is perfect. Many of the actors are from the golden age of westerns 30's thur the 50's.

  • omg, i love this movie! I'm 14 and I am the only person in my school who watches westerns! I love this one, my favorite. This and McKlintok (spelled it wrong, I know.)

    yay!
