what trucks and wheels do you reccomend for the komodo for dancing, cruising, carving, and maybe some standies? and which option on longboardlarry. com would be best for the styles i listed
@cometboarder i dont know how good this board is at dh and sliding but im sure there are boards that are alot better at dh and sliding than this one. if youre looking for a good dh/sliding board.
hi , i m into buying my first longboard. i was skateboarding, and doing mosty agressive inline .
now, the shop i have in mind doesnt sell lbl.
i m between gravity 47 , and the ed 55 .
which tricks won't be able to be done with the the smaller one, or with the bigger one. i like dancing and shovits-flips. is the ed 55 ok for that ? i m tall, btw !
i think i want a 55in lbl komodo to get a board kinda like the loaded dancer but i cant figure out how to leave my description on the site. ive clicked on create ur own board or whatever and the add to cart but idk where the description goes i dont c any txt box. pluss do u think a komancer is a good idea???
Great video...I had a custom LBL Kamodo built over the summer...it's perfect for an old fat dude who wants to cruise! Larry is awesome to deal with, and luckily I live near his shop, so I was able to pick it up in person!
hey guys i was looking for a dancing deck im about 5"6 or 5"7 im trying to decide between the komodo and the bamboo osd im worried the osd will be to heavy to whip around shuvits what do you guys think......hope you can respond
hey what bushings do u use? Im trying to find some bushings to get. Im 5"10 150lbs. I like doing freestyle and carving. but i also like doing a little downhill to. So i was thinking of getting a barrel and a cone. Im not sure what duros to get. If u could help i would really appreciate it. thanks
@mattputur get double barrels. that way you will be nice and carvey when you want to dance and carve, then tighten them a bit and you're golden. venom makes magnificent bushings.
i was thinking of getting a 43 inch komodo for sliding dancing shuvits and stuff. im 5"10 and weigh 140. i was wondering if you think that this is a good choice and some feedback. thanks

I gatta question, see i need a new board. my dervish is almost done, buts cracked. anyway, the question, what kinda new board shoold i get? i was loking at th eLBLs, like a Dancer (ods) or a kamodo. if not a LBL, another dervish or the new tan tien from loaded. i mean i liek doing all the tricks you guys did in this vid so lemme know what you think i should do!
@TheAguAnno If you like/need a good nose, can't go wrong w/ the Komodo or the shorter Twintip (which is like a shorter Komodo w/ a nose at both ends). I like 'em better 'cause they're not dropped and the nose is righteous.
you guys are awesome!! :) is the komodo good for short people? cuz i'm 4' 9'' and want to get a new board. i'm kinda looking for one that i can dance on and do some smooth carving.
@AKlalaLOVE it's a great all around deck, good for bombing, pumping, dancing, sliding, tho you might want to call Larry and ask for a slightly shorter, 45-46 inch deck 'stead of the 47-48 it is ordinarily.
@kordmyster there's no crying in skateboarding. oh, wait, that's baseball, haha, but no worries, 'mano, you will not be let down--the man's decks are art.
the guy with the black shoes with red laces doesnt have great flow. It seems like he's angry at the board or something haha. but this is still a great video i ordered a komodo about a month ago and im still waiting. I cant wait.
haha thank you for welcoming me. I got a 42" Komodo with twin tips. I really wanted it to be similar to a dervish but still have the style that comes with the komodo. I'm really into dancing and I wanted to be able to get around my campus at school so i thought that was a good decision. Doesnt 1 or 2 of you guys ride a 43 inch komodo?
(1/2) jaja, we've each had one (DanC still has his) and they're incredible--expect to see footage in the near future (2 weeksish).
Perfect compromise for a short dancer, we love love love the nose on the Komodo and w/ the twintip it's always in front.
We don't even touch our dervs anymore (should prolly sell them, actually), but yeah, my 43" was car'd tho, so ole blue never had the chance to get very old =(
(2/2) The new 42" blue/orange fade is gnar, tho, thing slides like crazy, 360s are a breeze and the 540 is a-comin' just need to go faster so it doesn't look like three 180s or a 360 w/ a 180.
I do miss that wee inch for dancing, however. Even considered mebbe even 44" for a different deck in development.
@TeamFunkapotamus Hey guys, really awsome vid. I am about to get my first board, and wanted a komodo. I thought they only had a 47.5 in one, but you said you had a 43"? could you send me the link where i could see the board. i couldn't find it on the web site, the custom board link was broken. how do you like the 43", and how do you get "twin tip"? and what is it exactly? what is you recommended set up? thanks in advanced. and again, really cool vid!
Dan, I wrote you a semi-long writeup, but YouTube ate it. Here we go again tho:
Holeys have a longer hanger (176mm), lower pivot point, recessed bushing seat with special bushings to go with it and a baseplate angle that's slightly less than 50*. They ride low and turn real fine once you break the bushings in.
In short, Holeys are gnarbar--especially on big boards where the 150s would be restrictive.
They're slightly more expensive, but definitely worth it in my opinion.
Only if you add materials or labor, I believe, but give Larry a call to be sure--you'll want to talk to him to get your custom to fit your exact specs anyway. Happy riding!
hey do you think this board would ride good on banks/ditches because i love riding those kind of things but i also wanna do dancing an stuff like that
The wheelbase on the Komodo is a little long for banks/ditches, but ask Larry for a twin tip custom Komodo--it's a cut down version of the Komodo (40-44") with the nose mirrored on both sides.
The smaller wheelbase will help you shred the banks/ditches while the shape of the deck and the noses lend themselves real well to any boardwalking tricks.
1) The Komodo is an incredible all around deck and what we typically use when cruising around our neighborhood (relatively flat w/ some slow hills). The boardwalking tricks make our rides more fun and entertaining.
2) We ride for the LBL Team, so this is part of us representing and spreading the word about what the Komodo can do.
im a beginner and i want to buy a longbaord. Everyone is telling me that a sector 9 is the best one. Is it really or is it just overated. i just want to cruise in neighborhoods or the sidewalks.
can you help me which board is the best for me?
also, im looking into the malakai 40 by original skateboards is that a good choice?
Sector 9's are only for beginners. If you get serious with them i suggest getting a Legendary, LongboardLarry, Roggs, Landyachtz, Rayne, or Loaded. All very good decks. I also heard Kebbek and Neversummer are good. I personally dont like Sector 9's but they are a good starter. I would rather get a high quality board at first.
if youre going to be riding similarly to the video(dancing/freestyle) i'd suggest these boards in particular: legendary demon, longboardlarry komodo, never summer heist, loaded dervish, and rayne hustler. each are great boards for cruising, freeriding, dancing and freestyle. sector 9's are nice beginner cruising and downhill(depending on the board) boards, but their setups are mediocre for everything else.
so would you say this board is just striaght up dancer or does it have any good carving ability cuz im lookin for a longer board with great carving any help would be awesome
Ya can carve the komodo like a madman. It has just the right amount of flex being bamboo with the birch core so you can carve it up, dance it up. Great energy return when pumpin and it is lighter than your avg 47.5 inch board. Slap some holey trucks on there and it turns like crazy. The Komodo is one of the most versatile dancers around. It rocks.
We live out in the western suburbs, but down to skate anywhere. Check out CLS Chicago Longboard Society on facebook. Great place to meet local boarders. Events and casual skates all season long.
We put colored grip over ours, but if you want to preserve those gorgeous lines use a layer of clear coat polyurethane and sprinkle some large grains sand or the no slip gravel stuff they sell at Home Depot for winter.
@TeamFunkapotamus does the Komodo have any concave? if it doesnt, im going to ask if i can get some for heavy carving

Hi there.
@TeamFunkapotamus_ I was wondering wich is the "Twintip" you spoke about.
That's because i'm really loving the feeling that shows from the Komodo, but it looks like it would be huge for me to ride (5'5"; 135 pounds)
Or could we ask them to make them a bit shorter ?

im a beginner and i want to buy a longbaord. Everyone is telling me that a sector 9 is the best one. Is it really or is it just overated. i just want to cruise in neighborhoods or the sidewalks.
can you help me which board is the best for me?
also, im looking into the malakai 40 by original skateboards is that a good choice?
jackieindo33 2 years ago
Sector9 makes solid decks, but best is all a matter of opinion. We're part of the Longboard Larry team, so you know what we prefer =)
Tons of great decks out there, tho, it all depends on your style of riding and what you want out of it.
Do you want a big wheelbase so you can dance? Do you want a nose/tail so you can learn shuvits, gturns, etc? Do you want any kick in the nose/tail?
If you're lookin exclusively to cruise, you may want to google Long Distance Pumping (LDP) and Pavedwave.
TeamFunkapotamus 2 years ago
thanks im trying to go to board stores to feel it for my own but most of them carry sector 9 so i dont have a variety of choices.
im still thinking about original skateboards, never summer, color me bad, or longboard larry.
i read the stuff you gave me and it helped a lot thanks!
is it difficult to learn how to dance?
jackieindo33 2 years ago
Sector 9's are only for beginners. If you get serious with them i suggest getting a Legendary, LongboardLarry, Roggs, Landyachtz, Rayne, or Loaded. All very good decks. if youre going to be riding similarly to the video(dancing/freestyle) i'd suggest these boards in particular: legendary demon, longboardlarry komodo, never summer heist, loaded dervish, and rayne hustler. each are great boards for cruising, freeriding, dancing and freestyle. sector 9's are nice beginner cruising and downhill(depending on the board) boards, but their setups are mediocre for everything else.
