  • @puskajjuuri no

  • Hi again and thanks for the tips on tube swapping.

Another question: I just bought a similar beyer M55 mic you're using here. The signal seemed very weak so I must use different wiring, but the cable has 3 cores (blue, yellow and white), and I'm not sure how I should wire it.

I wired blue to the tip, yellow and ground to the sleeve. Sounds great, but I'm afraid it's incorrect and may cause damage to the mic or the amp.

    How did you wire yours?

    Thanks!

  • @puskajjuuri mine was already wired, i think i sold the mic, cant find it, if it sounds good its ok,

  • @Harpsucker Thank you again. Sorry 'bout the double post... Had some problems with Youtube.

  • Hi! Thank you for your great videos. I have a question about the tube swap:

I have an early 60's amp, Dynacord da 16. It has three 12AX7's. Should I get the same effect (reduction of feedback) if I swapped one of them to a 12AU7? What if I changed all of them?

  • @puskajjuuri if you change all the sound will be muddy not really ok, you have to change the first stage preamp tube to a 12AY or 12AU , thats all

  • @Harpsucker Hi again and thanks for the tip on tube swap!

I just bought a Beyer m55 but it sounds weak. How should I wire it, the blue or the yellow cord to the tip of the plug (there are actually 3 cords)? Could incorrect wiring damage the mic or the amp?

  • @Harpsucker I took changed my preamp tube to a 12AU. Plus, I use a DD-3 with an EQ pedal. Plus, I use a Sure 54 mic

  • Is that a 94 0.o I got a 95 also blonde tolex :]

  • @superiansuper yes 1994

  • Very nice

  • makes me wanna hear John Mayall and the Blues Brakers

  • you are a genious, man! teach me!!!

  • I think I have seen almost all your video's. You're awesome. I have alway's been able to play harmonica but watching your video's have advanced my playing tramendously... my only question is about speakers.. I play with an ampeg vt22. Its a 100 watt tube 2x12 combo amp and I was wondering what speakers to go with. Or what speakers would you recommend?

  • @MrCooterbruzer what kind of speakers are in your amp now?

  • @Harpsucker no speakers present.

  • @MrCooterbruzer some Eminence will do, go to your local music store and check what they have

  • @Harpsucker you're a really awesome harpist. I have another question. How do you achieve your vibrato?

  • Can you tell me is the best between the pro junior and de blues junior (with litle modifications) because the pro junior just have 2 controls..

  • @notfoundyet1 well the Pro got a 10" speaker no reverb, the Blues Jr got a 12"speaker plus master plus reverb, depending on what you doing,i would go for the Blues Jr.

  • hi, are these amplifiers still on the market?

  • yes they are

  • Makes me think of Lester Butler. A legend missed.

    Nice sound.

  • Work Song on Harmonica! I gotta try this myself! :)

  • the first is good, sound straight compare to the second that sound more killer.

  • Nice playing...I've played for 35 years and man, how many harps I ruined by soaking them in my Beer mugs! LOL....

I did that for at least 10 of those 35 years.

Of course they use to cost about 6.50$ for a Hornner any key! :)

  • I saw one of your other videos and was inspired to put some time in. I recently got a harp to learn on, but after seeing this, I should probably stick to being a guitarist ! Saw Charlie Musslewhite awhile back and thought I could maybe figure the harp out but fuck it . I don't think I'll live long enough to play like you guys do.

  • thx

  • man you gave me goosebumps with this vid

  • your incredible at what you do

  • can you make a youtube video where you speak into the mic?

cause ive got a blues junior ad was wondering if i could use it as a pa/guitar/what ever instument

so my main question is can you use a tube amp as a normal speaking pa?could you possibly make a video about it?

  • Sam, thats what they did in the old days, they just put anything in a tubeamp , mic, guitar, accordion anything, you can use your amp as a PA system no problem, but the sound will be distorded, for a small party its ok, but for a gig you need some PA system

  • thank you

carrying around giant pa sytems is not fun at all i just wanted to make sure that it wouldnt blow any tubes

thank you again your incredble at the harmonica

  • you cant blow a tube, before you blow a tube the speaker will be long gone, thats the weakest part of an amp, especially Fenders have that problem

  • So what is the best budget harp amp ?

  • how long have you been harp suckin?

  • 30 some years

  • very nice man

  • so what's the easiest way to get that distorted sound? do i just turn up the amp volume or what? can i buy just a preamp or something to plug into another amp and still get that sound, or does it need a special pedal or something? any info greatly appriciated :D

  • please check the description

  • nice chops mang... good soul!

  • your amp audio is way too loud for us to get a good listen.

it makes the harp sound distorted.

  • thats what it is all about

  • It sounds old when it's that loud, love it! Lovely sound what kind of harmonica are u using the first time? :D

  • check the description, best T.

  • That is what you're supposed to do, don't you know?

  • That's the sound it's supposed to be!

  • never heard about little walter?

  • Incredible sound dude! What settings do you have on the Pro Junior?

  • volume:6 tone:3,5 preamp tube:12AU

    rest is stock

  • Ah - I have a Pro Jr too - is it difficult/expensive to change the preamp tube? I've heard it makes quite a difference!

  • tube is about $10new, used maybe $1, you pull the stock-tube out, stick the new one in, peace of cake

  • What for music plays in beginning?

  • Work Song

  • Hi, great vid! Let me ask you a question about what you think playin an harmo through a green bullet plugged in a fender blues junior? I'm looking for an amp I could use either with my strat or my harmo... Thanks!

  • Hi, i once did a workshop for harmonica playing thru a Blues Jr. great sound plus built in reverb, i changed the preamp tube to lower the gain for harmonica (12AU),thats it

  • Thank you and keep on sending great vids like these!

  • Hey, it's my guitar amp! =)

    ...you play crazy cool!

  • man you're a top class player and this channel is a great resource for harmonica players on the net. thanks so much :)

i have to say that the theme song annoys the s**t out of me but what comes after it is always worth waiting for

  • thx

  • Great stuff. What were the setting on the amp?

  • volume:5-6 tone:3-4

  • wow - you have just provided me inspiration to work on my harp tone - just been amplifying my harp with my vocal mike through the PA - will now be trying it through the guitar amp - thanks for the tone!!!! Enjoyed it!!!!

  • please ignore my last email - I have read your info - Thanks for the Clips. Its great to see all these different Harp Amps & Mics tested

  • Hi have chance to get a Pr Junior Amplifier Cheap. I have a JT with Black Element will i need to change the Tubes on the Amp. Thanks & Happy Christmas

  • Super sound but can you tell me how you feel about wireless mic's through an amp

  • you can use the harmonica mic with a wireless system no problem

  • the first a great sound!

  • Cool! lol Same as mine!

  • Hi Harpsucker, i have one mic exactly the same as yours, but the high impedance transformer was in the botton of the mic, and i can't link it to the shell.

I'll keep trying now, great tone, great player...

  • Hi Thomas,

I especially enjoyed your sound on the Beyer M55. You play beautifully! All the best,

    Uri

  • Great series! Love them all. Based on this I won a Beyer M55 on eBay for only $38 ($12 to ship to US from Germany :-). It sounds as good as the JT30 maybe with more bottom and breakup? Hard to tell on small speakers. You are the first harp player I've seen with this mic. Do you have any info about it? Mine comes wired for XLR but I understand it is dual impedance. How is yours wired? Do you recommend using low or high impedance? Any M55 help would be appreciated.

  • i just wired mine high Z with a guitar plug, no tricks nothing, i dont have any further info about this mic, but if you google you may find something, if its in german i can help to translat for you

  • that sounds cool, my pro junior sounds like shit...i'm gonna try changing the stock speaker/tubes out sooner or later, hopefully thatll tame the harshness

  • i think you dont have to change the speaker, change the tube, thats it, the tubeampdoctor company here in germany offers a whole mod for harmonica, i heard one modded Pro Jr. the sound was awesome

  • Too much of the delay for my taste on the first one.The second one is just what I like!Keep on harpin'! ;)

  • Great stuff....when you played with the JT i saw some effect pedal connected to your amp...what kind of effect you used?

    thanks,

    Erwin

  • Hi Erwin, its a Boss Delay DM-2, Regards Thomas

  • work song?

  • yeah a little bid of the head

  • The beyer is rougher than the JT ! Muddy Waters harp soundin' all the way :D

  • Cool, thanks man. That German mic sounded pretty good as did the JT with that Pro Junior.
