the bigger breed doesn't occur as often as the smaller ones. they are becoming less and less. they are more popular in europe than in america. we tend to want everything smaller for some reason. but you can never really tell if they are going to be bigger or smaller because my pom's parents were normal size. they were a little bit bigger than what a pom's apparently "supposed" to be. they are more rare than the smaller type. but there is nothing at all wrong with them!

Pomeranians only come in one size and that is part of the toy catagory... Just thought I'd let you know.

no there are two sizes. there is the tiny tiny ones that are bread for showing. and then there are the non-show ones called standards. that's the one i have. believe me. it freaked me out at first. that's why i looked it up to see what was wrong with her. but we found out there are two different types. i know a bunch of people that have them and they all look the same. they are still poms, they are just a different type. not a different breed. just a different....race, if you will. :)

Your dog probably has Spitz in the breeding line somewhere, that's why he is bigger than what a Pom is supposed to be. Poms with good breeding lines and are bred correctly are SMALL. Under 7lbs fully grown.

my dog is by no means a mut. i got my dog from a pom breeder. and she wasn't bred INCORRECTLY. the size of the pom is unpredictable. most, yes, are supposed to get to 7 pounds. but some, like mine, get to be large. there have been cases where they have been 14-18pounds. poms were originally 30 pounds, they were just bread down. and there are still some poms that have that old breeding in them. i'm not trying to be rude. i just know that my dog is a pure bred pom. she is just bigger than normal.
