  • Finally a person who knows what they're talking about on YouTube! When's the book coming out?

  • They movies of LOTR shows thing almost exactly like I pictured it. Talkien is very skilled as a writer.

  • A while after you've read The Lord of the Rings, you forget the words used. The story, however, what happened, is etched in your memory as if part of it.

  • This was inspiring - Thanks!

  • thanks mark i am thinking of stating a novel and these vids really helped

when will your book be published?

  • i will be looking forward to writing ,as for your book!

  • thanks a lot man i dont write in English but that really helped me just a question i need to ask do i have to read if i want to be a good writer ? i think i have a good imagination but that came because i watched too many cartoons when i was a child and too many movies after that

  • @EgypTPHONIX Believe it or not, I have not read many books, but that is because I am already a decent writer, not great but decent. It helps to read more so you can grow and be fruitful. So my advise would be.... do what you think is right. Most importantly, don't overstress yourself.

  • @EgypTPHONIX

it does help. i suggest u should read alot though, not to copy ideas(DEFINATLY NOT), but enrich your imagination

  • I know you mean well but Lord of the Rings is good but not as good as the series that I am writting right now. I am a fan of Eragon because the book gave me insight of the genre and now I know what books are the best and my series has a big twist at the end that many will not expect! The way that people think is a good idea to have to think about and thank you for that! With knowing people is hard to do but to get into their minds is one of the hardest things to do! so thank you for your idea!!

  • @kalpfei1287 eregon series inspired me because i found out christopher paolini was about 15 when he started writing. and about your book, its good to have confidence and faith in your story but always remember to acept criticism were u find it :-) Good Luck

  • @kalpfei1287 'Lord of the Rings is good but not as good as the series that I am writting right now'

    Well, that's ridiculously arrogant.

  • hello mark thank you for puting this vid up ... it's helped me alot .... btw when is you book going to be published ? i would like to read it .... and one more thing how do you come up with name of the places in you book like that ? every name i make up sounds stupid lol ... any ways thanks again ~darksinger13

  • I was wondering if I could send my Prologue to you to see what you think of it so far they are using some old grammar kind of like as if they are from england or something but it is supposed to be like that I think it sounds pretty good but I want a person like yours opinion

  • Im having a hard time starting I played a movie and I can see it but I can't write it the basics is it takes place on a planet where the flow of energy has been corrupted and the planet somehow can sense that there is something wrong and creates a "Lotus from the Earth" who can manifest and manipulate the flow of energy to defeat the corruption but he doesn't know to do so yet and he only has soo much time but it doesnt feel right it feels like im missing something any help?

  • Thanks for the video, im trying to start a book right now

    Sincerely, Mark DiAngelo

  • Very good video. If you ever need help publishing the next book my sister knows Mr. Riggio from barnes and nobles, whenever you have it ready i could have them look over your proposal. I love what your doing in giving a real video about a very difficult genre to write in a way thats marketable. I too have a book that I'm sending soon to get published and you covered everything I went through to get a sale. If you ever need honest review of your work dont hesitate to message me. Again great job

  • great video, u should make another one on actually putting words on a page, the litriture side of writing because i find this really hard. also good luck on the book. i want to read it soounds great.

  • thanks mark, i'm a writer to and these vedios really helped. :]

  • Welcome man. Good luck with your novel. :)

  • Yes... I'm watching you... I need an agent. Please message me who your publisher is.

I think LOTR is successful because I would say it is "meta-historical"

One of the things lost in the movie was the subtle realism of the events and the world. They tried to make it more "extreme" but they just ended up making it more implausible. I know why, and I'm not saying the movies are bad, no, they're AMAZING, but I still think, "could have been even better"

  • Houghton Mifflin, James Murphy

You might have heard of them.

And Tolkien I think would be pleased with the films or at least had a sense of respect for the interpretation. Remember that adaptions never co-exist with the books or original story.

  • Oh, and there are many reasons why LOTR is succesful. I just named the main two reasons. I mean it IS pretty darn original. And no one can compare it with any other book because its in its own league.

  • Oh, get a book called Writers Marketplace. It has the phone numbers of thousands of publishers. the price is about $100. Its well worth the price tag. Trust me on this one.

  • I think I have it, actually. I think maybe I oughta give it another try then... I tried sending it to an agent in NY, but she said she loved it but that the economy... blah blah...
