Interesting. I will definitely look into that. Ive been wanting to ride amtrak for awhile now anyway. Maybe fly up to DC and look around for a few days, then go to NY and get on amtrak there and take it all the way to new orleans... That would be fun! Dad said Air Tran is cheap to Washington DC...
It is, and yet AIr Tran is still better than Delta or American. And it is fun, though I have to warn you, the prices for food on Amtrak are pretty insane ($6 for a frozen biscuit), so bringing your own snacks for the trip might be a good idea.
