@TrekLightGear Is it waterproof? Do you need a fly? I'm wondering if it's better than my Hennessey Hammock. It seems smaller. Sorry for the double post, just saw that you posted on here! Nice customer service!
@FalseShadowx The hammock is not water proof so our rain fly (or any other) is definitely needed if you find yourself in inclement weather. The disadvantages of a waterproof hammock would outweigh the gains, water would pool up and collect in it and it would be much less breathable.
Obviously I'm partial to our hammock design vs. Hennessey, but each has its own appeal. Trek Light is very component based - you only take what you need so the hammock is just as at home tailgating as on a trek.
@TrekLightGear OK, thanks for the quick reply! What about mosquitoes? The netting options seems a little bulky. If you "roll" yourself up in the hammock does this keep the bugs off of you? Thank you.
@FalseShadowx You can definitely wrap yourself up in the hammock material as a way to keep the bugs off. Between that and a sleeping bag you're decently protected in cases where they're only a minor nuisance. But if you're in an area where the mosquitoes are in abundance I think they'll find a way to get at you if you don't have netting to keep them at bay.
@TrekLightGear I see. The light weight, small size and simplicity make this look like a great product. Your customer service also seems terrific. Unfortunately, I hike in the Adirondacks of New York, where rain and heavy mosquitoes are the rule rather than the exception. When the rain puddles under you and literally splashes up several feet to the bottom of the hammock, with horizontal rain hitting the sides, a waterproof hammock is something that I value.
@TrekLightGear with the hammock being so large, have you thought about adding a zipper so you can zip the hammock up over you, and maybe add a 4 inch strip of mosquito netting to the sides? so you have basically a normal hammock, but if you zip it up, you're like in a cocoon with a mosquito netting roof.
Ive got 1 of these hammocks, and I love it, Dave C. and David W. are smart guys! You mentioned that you used your sitka to bring it out with you, Im looking into getting a sitka or a kodika to carry my gear, but I really dont want to carry my trek light on the outside of the pack. Would it ride well in the sitka with minmal gear, or am I better off with kodiak?
@PhantomSoldier904 I've been packing my hammock inside my pack lately and it's working out fairly well. Check out the video I did on "pack and kit" and you'll see how it rides. I'm wishing now that I had got a Kodiak; I don't have enough room in the Sitka for extra layers of clothing. The Sitka is a great scout pack though.
Just imho thoughts, you should pull it a bit tighter, as much as I've seen in Dave's video, he was pulling it pretty tight up, but not too much to rip it.
great vid.
can u send me the link to the website that you bought it one?

@TrekLightGear If I camp in a drier area with less bugs, I will definitely get one of your camo hammocks! Thanks for your help!
