Biden is simply lying about the authority granted to the President. In a despicable move the Congress signed over authority to go to war at the whim of the president. Further they did so after Bush made it clear that he would not seek a diplomatic solution. (Look up the transcript of 60 Minutes II, Sept. 12, 2002.)
Further they granted blank check authority when anyone who was paying attention knew Iraq was seeking to capitulate in order to avoid invasion. Biden is a warmonger.
Okay were starting to Obama's network. I like Hagel, I like Shinseki, Richardson is cool but I'm a ufo guy and he's the guy in New Mexico, how about a film montange on aRea 51 to clear up the noise.
I'd like to know how I can take any advice seriously from some one who calls himself "hamsterpoop". Listen to this man. He makes sense, speaks with conviction and knowledge, is a consummate statesman and gifted Democrat. He can beat any Republican next year. Can Hillary or Barack say the same? They may well divide d
Democrats as happened in 2004. Please consider Mr. Biden now for president.
Joe Biden has seen enough to make a better judgment than anyone one on this post board. He has been in congress for many years. I have no clue about the knowlege this man has, but I do know its far more than most people in or out of goverment. No one is more qualified than Joe Biden to be president.
No patriot ever allows ANY president to have carte blanche, particularly one whose record of deception, prevarication, and bust out lying is as astonishingly expansive as W's.
Biden is the most "presidential" of the democratic candidates. And his plan of splitting Iraq into three parts under a central government, sharing the oil profits, is the best solution to its present carnage. The Kurds have already secured their own area. What's left is sorting out the Sunnis and the Shias.
Biden is the least presidential out of all the Democratic candidates. Breaking Iraq in to 3 parts with a central government will never work. If you wanted to do that they would have to have 3 seperate governments because one group, probably the Shiites, would always have the majority. If you were to then slip the country into 3 seperate parts, who would get the oil? Bidens plan to split Iraq up is an unrealistic pipe dream.
My comments came before Biden so poorly announced his candidacy, reducing his viability. --Regardless, the Kurds were promised a homeland after they assisted the West in WW1, yet those promises were never delivered upon. They are relatively self-sufficient, are our allies, and have their own oil. As I stated, it is the Shia and the Shiite that are problematic. The US alone can't solve their centuries-old religious conflict. That was why Bush 41 wisely chose not to stir up that hornet's nest.
just about everyone didnt get what they were promised after WWI but I agree fully. These problems are a product of the haphazzard fashion in which the Ottoman Empire was apportioned after WWI. The British and French didnt know their assholes from their elbows
And you think Bush's plan will work? Or anyother candidates "plan"? If they even have one, or have the nerve to speak out about it. At least biden has a specific plan and speaks out about it, unlike the other candidates who are scared or to uneducated about it to get into the specifics.
failer in Iraq? What about failer in the trust of the American people?
If we do not handle this right, for America. we will nedd to go back to the draft. We will have lost the faith of the true patriots of America. How can anyone believe in the leadership of our nation, when it has been so filled with lies death and bullsh*t?
As a Delaware resident, I would love to see a Biden/Obama ticket. Joe Biden would bring a great deal to maturity, character, and strength to the Presidency. Eight years of President Biden followed by eight years of President Obama would be my return of Camelot.
I lived in Delaware for 15 years. In communicating with my senators, congressmen- as I do, as my right as a concerned pro-active American- Senator Biden was as candid in his communication back to me as I was with him-Not like others who gave me a blanket letters of their votes and accomplishments. Biden was straight forward- I only have one question for him, which I will ask him: Why did he meet with Pakistani Intelligence the week of 9/11.
biden should be the next pres . by the way the vote was to give bush the ability if need be NOT a vote to go to war. it was suposed to be a gambit letting the hussein know we were willing if he did not respond to our demands . it weird that the gop's logo is the elephant when they cant remember shit
Joe Biden is always right on target. He had a plan a year ago, but no one listened. He said then, that in a year we'd be EXACTLY where we are now in Iraq, but no one listened. Joe Biden knows and has tried to inform not only Americans, but the President, & unless people start to listen, what he said now, in his speech, will be what transpires if Bush is allowed to once again make catastrophic decisions with the lives of what will be 150,000 of our best and brightest.
That's just crap. Bush decieved congress and Americans about the reasons for going to war. Once that became clear, smart Senators and Congressmen publically admitted they were wrong to trust Bush and went about finding ways to fix it.
This is an example of the Rove/Luntz mindgame the Bush gang has been playing on us from day one: to say someone "voted for the war" implies the bill was a declaration of war. It wasn't. It said Bush could declare war AS A LAST RESORT. It was deliberately introduced right before the '02 elections, in a post-9/11 environment of hyperpatriotism and paranoia, and sold as a way to give the President "teeth" when he went to the UN to ask for help with the invasion.
Bravo. It is time for the U.S. Congress to accept the responsibility and power of being a co-equal branch of government. The military is not the solution, it is time for a more thoughtful and diplomatic, and dare I say, humble, approach.

this Iraq war will be a subject for years to come. Not just for the plain stupidity of the whole mess, but the price tag and it's wake.
Now that the democrats have the full control of the purse, now is the time to step up and stop this out of control madness.
The "all and powerful OZ" of a President, still needs the congress to finance this disaster.
