What if you're just trying to add a "Like" button to your own page? For example, i made a facebook page for my band, and it keeps telling me to add a like button, but i do not know where to paste the code once i have it.

Good assistance but it is irrelevant anymore (March 2011). Changes with Facebook made this advise obselete.
