It's also about how solid someone can get a piece. You can't shred until you're playing has the clarity it needs. That way the notes don't sound unsustained and sloppy.

It was one of my first songs ever learned. I don't listen to Metallica as much as I used to, but I respect them because despite what guys like you and tons of others who have yet to understand that music doesn't have to be absolutely technical, Metallica sticks to what they want. They have their simple songs, but let's be honest, this honest is just so pleasing to listen to.
