I have not been able to understand why Mr. John Daly escorts all the "common" guests to be seated , & all the celebrity guests simply sit- this formal moment seems to be more problem than effective courtesy, it leads me to assume producers did not think ordinary humans had the capacity to find their way across a 7 foot span of hard wood flooring ? WTF ?
He escorted them because they were not accustomed to appearing on tv, and he was putting them at ease. Celebrity guests were used to appearing on the air.
I know Paulette from the old Paramount films with Bob Hope and Robert Preston, and she sounds exactly the same, but I don't think I would have guessed who she was by how she looks here. I'm not saying she looks bad for her age, just a lot different.
Paulette Goddard substitutes for Arlene Francis, who is to be precise not there. This comes from that memorable 1959 broadcast at which Rodgers and Hammerstein appeared as mystery guest.
Kudos to Paulette Goddard. Where most guest panelists often appear lost on WML, she zooms on the truth in like Dorothy; only stumbling on the wording of a question.
I haven't heard of Reading in a few years.

How ironic that the man that correctly guessed that this man grows and sells Christmas Trees was JEWISH!!
